Cream of the Crop kicks off it’s 18th Season
Today we take some time to visit with David, commissioner of the PS3 NCAA Football 12 Premier League- Cream of the Crop.
Cream of the Crop is one of the fastest moving, and active online dynasties on Traditionsports and the fact that they have been so successful is in no small part do to the solid group of coaches as well as their commissioner.
PAGamer07- “Thanks for taking some time to answer some questions for me David. First, congratulations on the kickoff of your 18th season. What version of NCAA Football did you start with and were you the first commissioner?”
David- ” We started with NCAA Football ’10 with Hoodlum as the first commissioner. After a few seasons, I took over and have been the commissioner ever since.”
PA- “How much has your roster of coaches changed since then?”
David- “When the Crop was first formed for the NCAA Football 10 Version, for season 1 the only “Original” members still here today are myself and JCA312. But we do have some guys that are practically original members in the sense…for example: Tuco418 came in the Crops 2nd inaugural season, JFunk came in the 3rd, followed by Runthepound in season 4.”
PA- ” Anything you want to tell me about the guys in the Crop?”
David- ” Well since were on the topic of seasons to break down the long standing history of committed members to TSO League play and solely the Crop

PA- “43 seasons is impressive as heck in one Online Dynasty. But more importantly, you are already into your 18th season for NCAA ’12. What has been the success to getting to this point?”
David- “Well I weeded thru alot of members in the first year of taking over the Crop, some people might have thought I was too hasty but I knew the type of gamer I wanted, for the league I wanted…and I plowed through them and recruited hard to assemble the 12 members I have today. I think the effort has paid off as I have only had (3) member changes in all of NCAA ’12…and (1) member never even really started with us who was suppose to be on the roster because of a family issue.”
PA- “Excellent words of advice for someone who is new to being a commissioner, or who wants to make their league stronger. Have you had any challenges?”
David- “From a league/members standpoint, no…not really. Everyone in my league follows the rules, I never have to deal with gameplay issues hardly ever.
I would say more of the challenge is managing a league as a leader for 20+ offseasons…that is rough on a Commish with all the advances and scheduling each pre-season (game requests, etc). Think about it….”
PA- “Absolutely agree. But like you said, having a strong group of coaches, that play the way you do and are “sim” make it much easier than it can be. It’s impossible to make everyone happy with offseason scheduling and of course their season schedules. Is there anything different that you do for COTC that you think is unique?”
David- “Yeah, the communication between the members of the league is flawless. I know guys frst and last names, I know their wives and children to a certain extent…this league and it’s members has far outreached 12 members that play a football game. We are our own community at times.
I will also say there is not a more dedicated league to helping support TSO and it’s label grow. Every member in my league supports this site financially and will continue to do so.”
PA- “That is something I really wish everyone here on the site could understand. It drives me crazy when someone says they don’t want to pay $10 because they can’t be assured of a premier league or some other stupid reason. If they care about this community and enjoy it here, that $10 is probably the best spent 10 bucks they will ever use. Who has been the most successful coach in your 17 season?”
David-“On the overall (versions 10~12) it would definitely be Runthepound. He has more titles than anyone in the league and I think most would agree has the best stick skills. He was much more dominant in ’11 than ’12…but still on the overall the most successful Coach. “
PA-“ Runthepound. Got it. If I ever get a PS3 Ill be sure to stay away from that guy Who has struggled the most? “
David- “GSUtiger-This guy hasn’t ever won a title in the Crop (neither have I) and might never…but he could care less and that is a great example of the type of player/member he is. He just wants to be part of the great community and enjoy a great league/game experience.”
PA-“Awesome. I’ve been around plenty of guys like that on the site. I’m probably one of them myself. We enjoy the journey more than the destination. So… After playing this many seasons, there HAS to be some fantastic players who have come and gone and are some of the best you have ever seen. Who were they?”
David- “Well of course….everyone knows across the Crop landscape the best player to step on a field is the “Great” Casey Hill (6’7″ behemoth of a Wide Receiver) **Alot of Cropper eyes being rolled when reading this**
He was so dominant that he actually was put on a 32 ounce glass beer mug as a X-Mas gift from members back in NCAA ’11.
We actually have a very sacred Crop Hall of Fame and it takes 9 of 12 votes to get in. We only have (6) players in it including Hill over three versions of NCAA Football.”

PA-” Good stuff man. I will always remember PSU MLB Jon Adkins. 5’11″ of awesomeness at linebacker. Thanks for your time my friend. And good luck with the rest of ’12.”
