EA and NFL Renews and Restructures License
EA has extended their exclusivity license with the NFL for Madden another year that will last through 2013. In doing so, they also negotiated a reduction in licensing fees for this upcoming season due to the uncertainties with the labor situation.
Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver was quoted on the situation saying: “For one of our core partners in a difficult environment, we say let’s look at this, and maybe it makes some sense to extend something out longer and give our partner some relief in the short term but gain something on the back end,â€

Reading into this a little more, is this a bad sign for the peace talks in that the NFL is willing to lose the licensing revenue on the chance of no labor deal? And how much more groaning and complaining will we be hearing from the 2k guys hoping for alternative NFL games?
