Boise State, TCU, and Ball State's SOS weren't ranked in the top 75 of SOS. Notre Dame's is ranked in the top 30.

Nobody here is disagreeing with you that the SEC has the toughest collection of teams or that Bama, Georgia, Florida, etc. wouldn't be favored against Notre Dame. We are targeting your continuous attempts to paint Notre Dame as a "soft" schedule. It was as difficult a handful of SEC schedules and was a tough schedule, period.

Notre Dame has never, ever, played an FCS school. Two weeks ago every team in the SEC minus Ole Miss v LSU was playing an FCS opponent.

Notre Dame played a BCS team every single week besides their rival Navy, who they traveled all the way to Ireland to play. When the SEC is playing 1-2 FCS teams + no OOC BCS teams it waters down their SOS argument a ton. I don't want to hear it until I see the SEC playing respectable OOC schedules and removing FCS programs from the schedule.

The Irish are "just so righteous with their money hungry TV deals they play blockbuster games every Saturday." LOL, are you kidding me? Please, let's not pretend like the SEC isn't self-righteous or money hungry. Look at conference expansion, oversigning, $185,000 money bags for recruits, etc.

Let's also not pretend like any SEC program would turn down an offer from NBC to nationally televise every single one of their home games for big cash in return. Don't blame Notre Dame for making an intelligent decision.

Beating up on teams like Wake Forest, The Armed Services, Western Mich, the Dukes of conferences ... These games are pretty much the equivalent to playing a FCS program. (They are horrible).. To drop FCS schools an add similar teams would cram their schedules every year and they would be D1 pinatas.
And while the rest of the nation was taking it to FCS schools, here next week all these relevant schools will strap up against the' best available to establish conferences champions. While ND takes the next few weeks off. I'm not saying ND didn't earn their right.. Going undefeated in any conference or situation is a feat. ME as a fan, I look at quality of wins. That's why I cant wait for the playoffs. If you come out of the SEC with less than 2 losses your fuckin good. Because you are pretty much locked to play at least 2 top 10 teams. (possibly top 5) I think the argument is not with Bama+GA vs ND etc... It's the fact you will be tested by a championship caliber school coming out of the SEC.
As a collective group yes ND's sched was pretty tough constantly. But did they play a real championship caliber team? Bama plays UGA, the winner goes to the BCS Championship .. This is the championship for these guys... Florida lost one game, to UGA and their season is over. LSU lost two games to UF and Bama, their season is over... These programs are elite and could very well beat GA or Bama if they were to play again. While every game is must win in college football as a whole, no other place will you get the level of competition with all these games pretty much being rivalries on top of it. I think if ND's rivals Mich, USC, Mich St, Navy, BC etc... If they were the caliber or LSU, UF, UGA etc.. I'd have no problem showing them all the love in the world. But we all can ride this wave until Jan. I'm actually interested in next year, is ND back? Or just a Cinderella, 4 team loss from '11... Bama, LSU etc... These guys have all the respect because they've been doing it every year in the counties hardest conference. But this is turning into a rant.. Fuck the BCS system & the SEC... Buckeyes '13

Every college is about $... We'll not all... I think it's all ridiculous, breaking down traditions for the sake of contract deals and money. Notre Dame bouncing around the Big East for some sports and independent for others. Just pick your damn suit and wear it, changing hats for each occasion. But its no different than the lameness of San Diego State or Boise in the Big East... Texas Jumping to the SEC etc... ND is always front page because they are ND. Different deals, ND AD/Prez gets invited with conference officials to plan landscape of college football. Where was BYU, Army, Navy they're independent too... They don't have a voice? Oh well... Nature of the beast.

You should really try using the space bar and organizing your thoughts better. Seems like every post is just you thinking outload.

Notre Dame is not BYU, Army, Navy, and vice versa. You really expect the Naval Academy to have a seat at the CFB table of powers?

No because they are irrelevant, just like the Irish the past 2 decades.

We must differ in our definition of irrelevant. I'm more worried about today than the past two decades. Last time I checked Notre Dame was #1 and going to the National Championship. I hope my Irish stay "irrelevant" for quite some time.

I think "irrelevant" is better paired with a school who can't reach a bowl, or even worse, is banned from the post-season. Anywhere between 0-12 to 12-0 your Bucks had already sealed their fate for guarunteed irrelevancy. I'm glad you guys won all your games, it makes the punishment quite worthy.

And my Bucks are relevant to this thread how? Your personal attempts to troll or flame are lame (since yesterday in chat), as was the reason a fellow Irish fan tagged me in the initial post. If you can't sit and debate your opinion with out throwing in lame .gifs and personal attacks in a adult setting why bother posting. I could really careless about the Irish being #1 or the Bucks being banned...

I feel "X" way, you feel "Z" way ... cool, we'll see what happens come Jan, and beyond.

Then you're the only Buckeye fan on this planet who doesn't care about the bowl ban. Trust me, I live in Ohio.

Have you been avoiding any and all sports websites since Saturday? Half of the discussion not if Urban will win a championship at Ohio State, but when.

But more generally, your ad hominem against the Buckeyes here does absolutely nothing to bolster your case for ND in the championship game. A case that I support but find myself regretting because of your little tirade here.

I think the Buckeyes are in great position for the future, and Urban definitely has them in position to win a title in the coming years if they play up to their potential. The recruiting should be great with the 12-0 season.

In the same token, if a Buckeye fan is going to talk to try to label Notre Dame as "irrelevant" than I'm going to remind them of the tough reality. I don't enjoy ragging on Ohio State as I actually do enjoy watching them. It's the vast majority of their fans just like QuietStorm who believe they are the Mike Mayock of College Football and spew crap like ND is irrelevant.

I know the vast majority of these fans make up most popular fanbases, but a person is always a little more sensitive to the fans in your home state when you don't root for the home team. I can't tell you how many Ohio State fans have told me they would ROLL Notre Dame EASILY if given the shot this week.

You support the case because it's extremely agreeable that Notre Dame played a tough schedule, and you are an informed college football fan Baron. Don't want to sound like I'm hating on the Buckeyes, but they should not have allowed a handful of their players to play in the BCS bowl that they did in the win over Arkansas. I'm glad to see the 12-0 finish becuase it would have sent you guys to a BCS game most likely, which makes the punish fair.

HA, I too said ND played a tough sched as a whole, the disparity came when adding SOS VS the SEC & the Milky Way. I also said they deserve to be in the Championship game, they earned it this year with solid play. I never claimed to be Mike Mayock, but ND being irrelevant is pretty accurate up to this year. Hence the coaching changes every 3-4 years. I hope ND sticks around, it is good for football in general. An I'd love to get a chance to "roll" them gold domes.

I don't understand why tOSU and Notre Dame don't played on a regular basis. Seems like it would make a ton of sense.

Especially considering they are often fighting for the same recruits.

I think this is the biggest draw. It always has a similar ND v Michigan type feel to it when they actually do find a way to step onto the same football field.

ND is unique in every aspect. Pulling recruits from every where, lends you rivals from every where. Even when it's not a classic rival, when prestigious teams take the field it is very rivalry'ish... OSU/ND is due... We've dabbled with USC, TheU and now Cal ... Be good to get a new contract with another solid team.
