Madden '14 Wishlist: Let's start now

Something else I would like to see added is a MUCH better Match-up preview screen. Or something like NFL 2k's VIP stats. This will make scouting opponents 10000000x better and also it will help commissioners like myself to make sure nobody is abusing any parrticular play type. For example, Run vs. Pass or outside run vs inside run or deep passes vs short passes.. also the same thing on defense. Man coverage vs Zone coverage, blitzing vs not blitzing, etc etc.



Or hell just bring this back!

Something that I was thinking about was an accuracy stat for kickers similar to what the quarterbacks have. SAC, MAC, and DAC for kickers. SAC could be for 25 yards and in. MAC for 26 to 45 and then 46 and further would get the DAC. Straight down the middle and no problem. But a little off would cause a variance dependant upon how far below 99 the stat is.

This is more of a Microsoft issue, but it would be nice to have this available in Games On Demand on day 1. PSN offers this... Why not XBOX? Really not interested in buying discs anymore. This might be reason enough to move to PS4 next gen.

Well Xbox has this now, but they choose to withhold. I'm assuming some protective agreement with software retailers.

I hope that they actually fix the defensive pursuit AI so that if a running play is designed inside you cant dip inside and then run straight to the sideline and gain yards, that little dip inside sends every guy running into the hash marks and then they change directions like fools...I hate that part of this years game...seen too much of it lately.

Assignment football with good defensive pursuit angles or improved at least would be a big boost to the game.

Just looking at the preplay adjustment "popups" and them essentially drawing new plays at the LOS diminishes immersion, making Madden seem more like a real time play editor than playing football.

My suggestion is a blanket OPTION to disable advanced preplay adjustments all together, available to Commissioners and community creators. What I mean by "advanced" is anything outside of pass block shifting for the offense and DL/LB shifting, as well as press/backoff DBs for the defense. Everything else would require an audible to a new play.

That would be awesome. I hate guys who audible 15 times each play essentially creating a new play

I disagree on principle...... Hot routes and things like that are a huge part of real football. Now at the same time, limiting the preplay adjustments to say 1 or possibly 2 would make a ton of sense. That way a guy couldnt move D-Line, LBs, show blitz, and press all in the same play or on offense a guy couldnt hot route all 5 receivers.

Again, a QB thinks he sees a blitz so he calls a hot on one WR as a quick read seems totally sim and realistic in my book, but completely rearranging a play on either side of the ball is stoopid.

I'm glad they seemed to have addressed the "throw a receiver open" route change and next year they need a method to distinguish between throwing at a spot in relation to the receiver versus throwing to a spot on the field (route based passing).

The concept is extremely simple, press the receiver's icon/button using the right stick to attempt to place the pass in relation to the receiver(like we have currently) and add a modifier/button to press in tandem with the receiver's icon/button using the right stick to attempt to place the pass in relation to the end of the receiver's designated route.

If you EAGCs around here don't get some form of route based passing implemented in next years Madden, I swear I will cut all my funding for the program, lol.

Overall I am glad to see the improvements that seem to be made in M25 (current gen) over M13. That said, I don't know how soon is too soon to be talking about what to address next but it seems to me with no huddle/hurry offenses having so much buzz, this needs to be.

I am watching the E3 videos and aside from my previously expressed disgust with all the visual preplay adjustment pop ups, the unrealistic speed/pace of the no huddle/hurry up offense in Madden is very off putting. Someone correct if I'm wrong but I believe the User can hold down a button to make players even hurry up more in the hurry up offense, something akin to the Benny Hill Show fast forward scenes. If that's the culprit that's allowing in-game Madden players to line back up at the LOS in 9-10 seconds, after the whistle ended the previous play, then it needs to be disabled.

I'm not going to take a lot of time posting countless videos but I will post two just to illustrate the point.

In the two real life videos you can clearly see there is an effect on the time it takes to get reset for the next play, anywhere between 13-20 seconds, from the whistle ending the previous play until the snap of the next play, based on what happened the previous play. For example, was it a run for a short gain which allows the offense to reset faster, a longer play downfield with a gang tackle and more bodies to untangle taking a little longer to get downfield/reset, did the QB need to get the play call from the sideline after the first play, etc. However in Madden it's just hold down and rush every player back to the LOS while quickly doing preplay adjustments, all within 9-10 seconds.

The no huddle/hurry up offense in Madden needs to play out at a more realistic pace and I think linking that with actual animations to account for players coming on/off the field between plays would help with the entire process. Meaning this too quick no huddle/hurry up in Madden seems to be a byproduct of the focus, at least at one time, to get a Madden game in and over with as quickly as possible versus respecting a realistic football pace.

If some gamers don't want to sit through cut scenes, graphic overlays, instant replays or whatever, that's cool but that should have nothing to do with the actual action on the field "time warping". Anyone at a live NFL game is not subjected to the same presentation elements those watching on tv are BUT the game they're watching is still being played in real time and doesn't play out faster because of it. Same should go for Madden, allow gamers to focus their attention or view whatever they want in their game play screen but still represent the actual game play in real time, no more time warps please.

By the way, I can show you a clip where a team gets back to the LOS in 10 seconds. The issue is you shouldn't be able to do adjustments until they are set.

No, that's an issue but not the only issue. As I stated in my post, the no huddle/hurry up needs to play out in real time, accounting for the given situation. No doubt you can show a play or plays where teams have lined up in 10 seconds because it's all a case by case basis and should treated as such in the game. We shouldn't be seeing a deep 30+ yard pass with a gang tackle at the end, still result in getting the next play off in 9-10 seconds in Madden.

It makes no sense to have these time warps in the game, all in the name of finishing the game faster, that's what the ability to change quarter lengths is for.

Yeah, I was gonna say.... if you are playing 7 minute quarters instead of 15 then 9 seconds to line up is like 18 in RL..... seems reasonable to me

While I agree that the Benny Hill animation needs to go, I have seen several accounts where the hurry up offense has had to wait for a player or players that were involved in the previous play; both on offense and defense. Mind you, it was still video game type animation as far as speed goes, but the delay in action was realistic.

I've seen plenty of times were the quarterback is barking out calls prior to the offense being set. What I would like to see is more "disorganized confusion" depending on the awareness of the players involved and the game situation circumstances.

I don't understand what you are implying here. Are you saying the length of the quarters should determine how fast players move in no huddle? Why should quarter length effect anything other than, quarter length? I hope I am misunderstanding you.

I feel like have been doing a lot of Madden "wishing" lately after these E3 videos but don't know where else to put these stuff to get the right people around here to see it.

Anyway if the EAGCs around here could jot down a reminder to really emphasize to Tiburon that they please close the gap on the seemingly unnecessary different elements between NCAA Football and Madden. I understand that they need to be different games so EA can sell both but there is no need to create artificial differences, collegiate and pro football are inherently different enough.

What I am referring to is things like mass subs, Bottomline ticker, game breaks, defensive cam, player lock, true coach mode, custom stadium sounds, offensive personnel display in the play call screen, and new this year coordinator cam and pregame music video with highlights, in NCAA football but not in Madden. On the flip side, adjustable Gameplans, more ratings, DPP, defensive assignments, to name a few, have all been in next-gen Madden but not NCAA football.

The two games are made literally right next to each other so can we please press Tiburon about getting anything relevant to representing real life football in one, to also be in the other.

Totally wouldn't mind this at all.
