Hill to the Clippers is a nice move. He will give them a solid veteran presence on the bench.

Lakers pushing hard to land Magic center Dwight Howard & meeting with Magic today, sources tell Y! LAL wants DH contract extension commitment

Yahoo! Sports says LAL-ORL talking Dwight Howard. Could be LAL-ORL-HOU 3-way, LAL sending ABynum to HOU with Rockets taking ORL contracts

As has been stated by various folks here already; D12 would be stupid to not want to commit to LAL. But, then again, his whole thought process for this has been questionable.

I guess it is "official" Knicks decline to match Rockets

"Rather than make an offer to Jeremy Lin and try work out a deal, they told him to go out and get an offer on the open market, but told everyone publicly and privately they would match any offer that came in. Woodson said Lin would be the starter in the fall.
Then the Rockets offer came in — $5 million for year one, $5.2 million for year two (the max any team could pay him those years under the terms of the CBA), and a whopping $14.8 million in year three. A “poison pill” deal."

    oopsy doopsy.

If it was just the $14.8 million they would probably match. It's the fact that the luxury tax would push that third year to $25-30 million that's the problem.

And this is why most capologists are telling us to be patient and that these big 3/big 4 teams will be a thing of the past when owners are on the hook for an absolute shit ton of luxury tax.

...Not sure if I agree it will happen that way...

I haven't heard the info attributed to an unnamed source. In the reports I've heard on ESPN, both Broussard and Bucher say "Howard's agent says..."

I hope the Lakers aren't giving up Pau in the deal as well.

Stein is saying Pau is not part of the deal. Bynum would go to Philly.

I'm not going to pass judgement until I hear all the details but I hate this trade. From what I've seen the only other contract the Magic are dumping is Jason Richardson to the Sixers.

The Magic would have come out better taking what the Nets or Rockets offered. Who are the freeing up cap space for?

They need to dump their bad contracts so they can start over.

I'm fine with taking J-Rich's contract, at least he'll produce. Bynum, if he can stay healthy, will be a steal for the Sixers, but goddamn is Bynum going to Philly just like an iceberg looking for the Titanic.

I said it in the CB, but i feel the winners in this deal are the Lakers and Sixers. The Lakers get their guy while keeping Pau and the Sixers buy Bynum at a relatively low cost. Iggy has been shopped the last couple years and he just didn't fit in, in Doug Collins system. The Magic could potentially become winners if some of these kids work out. Although, if they could have somehow dumped Hedo, it would have been a surefire win for them. Loser in this deal i feel is Denver. Iggy isn't really a 2 guard. He's too big. If he can't fit in that role it forces them to either put Gallo or the Manimal on the bench. Two solid talents they need on the floor.

It baffles me that they still have that contract, both deals from earlier in the summer were better for Orlando

A 1st, Harkless, Iggy and Vucevic is a lot for bynum and richardson. I don't like this deal for Philly.

Bond - what is the reaction in Orlando to this? This deal is awful for Orlando in my opinion. They trade the best center in the league, who while a headcase is still 26 years old and the best defender/rebounder in the league, and all they got back is a guy in Afflalo who is at best the 2nd best player on a good team (but more likely the 3rd best player on a good team), a bench stretch 4 in Harrington and 3 picks that will likely be in the late teens/20's?

Orlando, say hello to lottery hell, cause you'll be there for the next 5-8 years.

I think the big thing now is that all of our big contracts are gone after 2 years. We got rid of Richardson and now I'm hearing that Duhon is also included in the deal.

We got Mo Harkless from the Sixers so we will have 3 rookies next year (Andrew Nicholson, Mo Harkless, and Kyle O'Quinn). The Magic are basically starting over and hopefully in about 5 years our team will resemble Oklahoma City.

I've been in Atlanta all week so I haven't heard much of the local reaction. I can tell you that while I don't really like what we got in return, I'm glad this shit is finally over.

Also, Alex Kennedy is reporting that there are more pieces involved than previously reported.

I'd hope there is more involved, otherwise hiring a 30 year old first time GM may turn out to be a disaster for your team. I can't help but think a more experienced guy with better front office connections could have secured a better package than what the Magic seem to be getting here.

These teams thinking that just anyone can luck out with lottery selections like the Thunder did cracks me up. For every Thunder team that succeeds that way with picks in the 3-8 range, there are 25 teams like the Wizards, Raptors, etc that are picking in the lottery every year. Fact is, if you want to contend you need to get a #1 pick in a year that there is a franchise type player available, otherwise the lottery is a total crapshoot.
