If this hasn't been posted yet (and it may have been, I didn't do a search, shame on me), I think we definitely need one: I'm at a point in my life past the college partying where I'm looking to broaden my beer horizons, and honestly don't know that much about beer. I've tried many and I favor the pale Ale's. I prefer Sierra Nevada Pale Ale if price isn't an issue that week and I'm just looking to kick back. I also enjoy rolling rock if its more of a party night. What about you guys? I'd like to venture into the world of dark beer but I'm definitely lost when choosing beers in that regard. What are some of the TSO'ers favorite beers?
As i've told Knight, Alaska has some of the best brews I've ever had. Unfortunately, unless you go up to Alaska there is no access to them. As far as whats available on the grocery store shelves, i'm a big fan of Shock Top. I also enjoy Stella.
I also like Hefeweizen (Blue Moon, Shock Top)/ If I had to pick one beer to drink for the rest of eternity, it would be Leinenkugel's Sunset Wheat.
I love Guiness. Not as heavy as you would think, doesn't fill you up as fast as you would think. A very good beer. Its actually served room temp in Ireland, btw. If you like Sierra Nevada, try Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA.
Forgot about Leinenkugel's...love me some of that Sunset Wheat. Their other beers are good but nowhere near the Sunset Wheat.
The guiness was very good. Strong flavor but not overpowering like all my pussy friends told me. And I have been meaning to pick the Dogfish head IPA up for a while now. I think it would be very good!
Everytime I travel back home I have to get some Leine's. The best man in my wedding's father in law is actually friend with them, I thought I would get a discount or something but no.
Also when people come into town they always want to go to the "Yard House" which is an extremely overrated destination and I wouldn't eat there by choice. Fortunately they have 120 or so beers on tap so it's an alright place. Before Coyotes games if I have time I'll stop in and get a Chimay Cinc Cents, another great beer.
Guiness is actually kind of strange since it is a dark beer thought to have a big kick with a small ABV (i believe around 4.5%). If you like Guiness you may want to try a Left Hand Milk Stout, another one of my favorites. I tend to prefer beers on the darker side of things, but my favorite Porter is this one:
When the fuckin three of us gonna get crunk! I've been lookin for a good bar around here. So far my experience only stretches to Four Peaks and Half Moon.
JFace I forgot about your ass. Those are both good bars. I'm sure Cole knows all the good spots out west
ahh. unfortunately it's a lot a chains out here. romans oasis is good for day drinking with old folks shootin the shit. as for getting crunk, i think you youngins would have to tell me where to go.
lol I've only been here for 2 months. Other than the two bars i mentioned above, i've been to one club. Club Afterlife or whatever its called in Scottsdale (was going with a coworker under 21 so had to go to an all ages joint) and that was lame.
