i disagree, Matrix... generally after the first couple weeks of the season, the rookie guys would be updated to their teams, and whoever makes the clubs out of training camp would be included.

if there's a lockout, we could probably start within a few weeks of giving the GM Connected go a good test. but we'll know more come Sept 11 when the game drops, and Sept 15 when the CBA expires.

we will still be having a season here regardless.

when game releases, we all will join the test league.

test the heck out of it for at least 3 weeks, up to a month.

check and see whats up with the actual NHL, lockout or not, then see what EA is going to do about rosters if there is a lockout. if not, we will wait until they drop the opening night rosters and start the league then.

What will be the league rules for Free Agents or players that went back to Europe and will be available in EA free agent list. I know for a fact that the owner that will have the Yotes sure will want to keep Doan if he re-signs there when/if the new CBA is in place. So basicly, what I see happenning is if we don't get a roster update once our league starts, Doan would be available to all 29 GMs. Same with guys like Kostitsyn and Radulov that will probably be on EA's free agent list and available to all.

we will then have some rules in place for stuff like that..

while we want guys to be able to make moves, we also will limit those as well.

might be similar to trades, only allowed say 3 to 5 trades and 3-5 FA pickups during season.

we could possibly add some freeze periods as well.

Don't care if games are simed. There are always players who are on their xbox and don't want to play their games. The threat of having them simed will hopefully make them get their games in. We are talking 82 games anyways, if you have enough losses from being simed or having your computer strategy play, then you obviously don't have enough time for the league anyways.

my only question about games being simmed is how will it be determined a game should be simmed.

if i can play m-w-f, but my opponent can only play tu-th-sat, is anyone really at fault?

The way I look at it, nobody is at fault, so is it fair for one or the other to play the CPU? I know the way I do it for my football dynasty (slightly different, but the theory should work for both) is if one guy is available but the other guy has either a very small window or isn't trying to get the game in, the guy who's available plays the CPU. If both guys are just unable to get a time, but both are trying and have times that just don't work with the other person's free time, the game is simmed.

Can I, as a virtual GM make Michalek-type of deals like the real Yotes GM did? i wonder if Schultz will trade me Orpik for my 8th AHL d-man? Also, I would probably need to pick up more than 5 free agents to fill this 25 M$ cap space I picked at the draft!!!! Woooooo!!!!

I'll have to see how it looks when we do a test run. Without knowing how it'll work, I don't want to comment.

The one thing that I was beginning to wonder... Since I'm assuming that the game is going to schedule games based off of the actual NHL schedule, divisional matchups are going to be at a premium in our league(aka: six games against four opponents). I'm wondering if based on our draft that we did if this is going to cause any issues. For example: Two west coast guys in a division with three east coast guys.. You'd then end up with a bunch of scheduling conflicts which would make life difficult to get those games played and really kill the momentum. It's a little different if you only have to schedule a game cross coast once, but if you have that pop up 6 times in a season of 82 games??

I'm really looking forward to this league, just don't want scheduling to be a downfall for it.

Sorry to west coast guys I go to bed early! That's why the Coyotes have to move to Quebec city quick, so I can get out of the Pacific Division!! I guess commissionner Chapman will have super powers to re-organize divisions, right???

I'm in the same boat there QcGlitcher during the week too. I teach, so therefore I wake up early during the week. During the weekends, I can play anytime generally(except late Sun night). However, the good news though is that these NHL games won't be nearly as long as the NCAA games so it should be easier to fit them in. That's a huge plus that I love about the NHL series, I can sit down and play a couple of games and not feel like it's been 3 hours vs playing NCAA or Madden where each game is an hour.

i can't say i'm a night owl or an early riser, i'm somewhere in between... available most weeknights from 6-11pm EST, and sporadically on weekends if a time is scheduled ahead of time...

i don't think the schedule is going to be that bad, as long as it's a mutual respect amongst the league for each others time, we should be good. especially if we go with the real schedule and Fiddy opens up a month at a time with a 2-3 week deadline. that way you have the flexibility to get the games in...

Yea, once we figure out what times are best for each person it shouldn't be hard to schedule games together at both parties convenience. Weekday nights and weekends are usually a go for me most of the time.
