Can we try to prevent OC and DC's from getting hired at new jobs, or do we have no control over that as head coaches?
I heard Ben mention this in OS's podcast and now I see it in writing on the EA blog: So do you think that the conference game matchups are locked (I can't choose who to play in conference) but we're just allowed to choose where we play? If it's the latter, is it likely that you can either choose to keep the default home/away setting or make it a neutral site, or do you think you can also switch a home -> away as well?
Wait until the info comes out with regards to all of the coach skills. I'm trying to tell you guys, they are going to change the way we play the game with regards to leagues.
Not really sure. Perhaps HackGolfer would be able to field that question better. I think it's just a toggle, though.
I fully expected to go pretty much full into recruiting (since I'm a big time recruiting guy) but after reading the description of the "clutch" skill from game management, I'm guessing that I'll need to balance them both!
From what I've gathered, it looked like you had 3 different pools of "perk points" to spend. This is taken from screenshots like this: I take that to mean that he has 0 upgrades left for you HC, but he has 4 for his OC and 4 for his DC. I take this to mean that, while you have to decide whether you want recruiting or game management for your HC, you don't need to decide whether to spend on your HC or spend on your OC because those are different pools of points and you can spend on both your HC and you OC (and your DC too). If this correct? I only ask because your quote makes it sound like I have to decide whether I want to spend that 1 upgrade I have on either my HC or my DC or my OC.
IF I start my dynasty as a HC, will I be able to upgrade my own skills as an offensive or defensive mind as well as my game planning and recruiting? Or does those trees even factor into a HC. For example Nick Saban is a defensive mind, and sorry Kirby Smart, it's really his defense. So I would expect his DC skills to also have an impact along with whatever DC skills his defensive Coordinator, Kirby, brings to the table as well. Same goes for Guys like Jimbo Fisher on the Offensive side or Kliff Kingsburry, both previous OCs.
Yes, if you are a HC, then you can upgrade all of them. If you are a coordinator then you only have responsibility for your tree and the recruiting tree I believe.
Unfortunately, you have no control on the fate of your OC and DC as the HC. If I remember correctly, you could only change the stadium on conference games but not the home/away team or a different team. Yes you understand this correctly. Certain objectives in game or in recruiting add to your Coach XP (seen in the bottom right) and either apply to your HC upgrade points, OC upgrade points or DC upgrade points, which are non-transferrable (meaning you cannot use a HC upgrade to unlock an OC skill, etc..) So HC Chris Jones is at a Level 8 here, meaning that he has unlocked 8 upgrades (so he has chosen 4 recruiting and 4 game management). You can choose to unlock from both of those ladders, or you may decide it is worth your time to only spend on recruiting first. The XP is not linked evenly to all of your coaches though, so they could all level up at different rates. I hope that all makes sense.
Can coaches regress? And how are they determining the starting ratings for coaches, like Saban and Meyer? Are they going to be level 20+ from the start? and if there is no regression what is to determine they will ever fall off until they retire?
Here i was thinking, fuck that in game shit, I'm gonna max recruiting trees and ignore a 1 or 2 pt bump to a few players..... but that clutch stuff is crazy
It'll take a while to get there though (at least in terms of points, but I don't know how long it'd take to earn those points) since it's the top skill in that tree (I'm assuming the "4th quarter fingers" at the top has to be the clutch skill).
There is another one where your team starts hot against rivalry games. Also there is one where you can bring your players out of a cold state (blue circle) by calling a timeout.
I new about the rivalry one (which I'm assuming is the calendar with the circled date) but I didn't know the specifics for what it did. In the podcast Ben mentioned that it's for rivalry games and bowl games too. I thought I remembered a 3rd type, but I don't remember what it is. I like the timeout one as I always have to go really conservative when my QB throws a couple of picks and goes cold. It'd be nice to calm him down with a TO.
Speaking of hot/cold streaks, did you notice how big of a difference they make in any of the builds you played? In Madden this year they seemed a little bit overdone, I honestly don't remember if they were in NCAA or not.
This was also a discussion at our CE. From what I can recall, there were no ways to get negative points because they did not want to discourage people from playing. And yes, some of the more prestigious coaches will be starting at a very high level. If you create your own coach, you start at Level 1, so I would recommend this to all leagues.. But also keep in mind that you have no control of your coordinators, so depending on the school you pick you could be a Level 1 HC while your OC and DC are 13+
This is more of a gameplay question, but I read on TGT that you can now practice in preseason so I was wondering if there is any random play option?
