trevorg234 Hiram better hit that college lifting program! I like the background story that you told on a few, nice originality. and the "this guy blows"
Florida State Recruiting Update As the coaching staff set out at the beginning of the year, we always want to bring in a solid and impactful guy into the secondary most notably at corner. Someone who can be physical and press while doing everything coverage wise that we will ask of them. Pete looks to have those things as we have scouted him and is very solid across the board, he won't have the elite speed and first step but he will contribute nicely in the secondary. Nathan is somewhat of question mark currently. He looks to play at either side of the ball, rather that would be at TE or DE we will find out when he arrives on campus. Either way he won't have the first step but once he hits full speed, he will be like a Mack truck with another gear. As of now he makes the highlight reel catch and we will need him more in traffic, across the middle but he runs solid routes for being a senior in HS. A gem that was found and Atkins will most likely sit a year to further develop. With the departure of Chad Abrams imminent, we needed to go out and get us a FB regardless of overall but with further scouting it looks like Jake will come in as a 77 with decent blocking abilities. We might be able to buy a year with TEs being H-backs, that will be discussed and hashed out when he arrives on campus. Bringing Garrett in continues our elite recruiting along the interior lines where football is won in the trenches. I would fully expect Golden to redshirt a year to continue to get better. We really wonder about Jeff, even though we gave the four star a scholarship, we have asked him to prove why he will be in Tallahassee in his near future. We didn't exactly scout a four star rating and he will most likely sit to develop his 75 man coverage, 74 zone and 70 press.
He's definitely on the slender side. It's funny because he profiles better at FS and my other safety, Clarke, profiles better at SS. I might end up switching the two depending on how their coverage skills progress.
Gamecocks on the recruiting trail... Despite the recent implementation of the "Saban rule" preventing the over-signing of prospects for only certain universities, Coach Chance is confidently picking up his last recruits of the year and has South Carolina near the top in the class rankings despite having only 6 scholarships to work with. Gene is a prototypical cover corner. He has fantastic skills and completely shut down most receivers he matched up to in HS, but he wont be able to depend on talent alone at the collegiate level. D-Coordinator Lorenzo Ward thinks he can get him up around 180 or 185 before his junior year so he isn't such a liability in run defense. With the departure of Jimmy Legree to graduation this season and the potential exit of Victor Hampton for the NFL draft early, he will likely be a contributor in dime packages early and get some time as a sub. Winding Down... Two scholarships remain and though they have a number of recruits on the board showing great interest and promise, South Carolina has their sites squarely on two recruits to round out their class. "Los" is a matchup nightmare in the receiving game and a solid blocker while Jeremy is looking at potentially seeing playing time at both FB and TE. The word around Columbia is that they will push for playing time early and Drew Owens and Jerell Adams may be in for a battle to keep their spot on the roster or be in line for a position change.
Tar Heels Signs another. Has 8 Scholarships left. Adams Walker signs with the Tar Heels. Adam could play any were on the defensive line. Could move over to the offensive line to help out if needed.
The Terrapins will likely have a small recruiting class this season. Despite this they have already added 3 recruits to this season. Pretty clear that they are focusing on local recruits. Doug Amos doesn't look like he will be starting at Maryland anytime soon, but after a redshirt year and a few seasons as a backup he could look to make a serious impact as an upperclassmen. Fisher a DC recruit has all of the speed and agility that a cornerback needs, but his skills are still raw. Maryland needs some CB depth and Fisher will aid in that greatly. Give him a redshirt year and some work as a backup and he could be a dominant force in the MD secondary. The number 2 ranked recruit in the state of Maryland is a big get for the Terrapins and the first big name of this class. McPherson has the talent to start as a Freshman, but will likely benefit from a redshirt season. This guy has the size and skill to be a big time playmaker for the Terrapins and could be a future All-American.
#1 QB Earnest Young was reportedly in attendance for Alabama's 28-7 win over LSU. The high school senior was quoted after the game as saying "wow, that environment was incredible."
Man fuck this coach skill shit and fuck this new recruiting. After someone has a visit to another school, they just jump me by hundreds of fucking points, and the 3 guys I want the most telling me they rather go to fucking Vandy, Marshall, and Cincy. Fuck outta here
Rant mode, engaged: I'm in the exact same situation with QB Derek Riley. For some reason, I'm in a recruiting battle for a 5-star QB with Kent State and Memphis. Who the hell in their right mind would have to seriously consider those two schools against me? Mind you, Derek Riley is from Miami! It's so cheesy because I locked out Kent State a long time ago, but they used that stupid unlock skill and gained like 1,800 points out of nowhere to get within 50 points after a visit. He will end up signing with Memphis, though. How do I know? Memphis is around 2,000 points back and locked out currently. However, they will use their unlock perk this week to mysteriously create 1,500+ points right before his visit to their school. After his visit which will surely be 1,000+ points, they will have a lead on both me and Kent State headed into the offseason. They will dump all 10,000 points into him and since they will have a lead already, he will be theirs. So an elite 5-star QB from South Beach will end up signing with the single most miserable program in the country because of this stupid unlock skill. By the way, neither Kent State nor Memphis are even respectable in his three bonus categories, so that argument can be thrown out. I gain at least 180 points weekly on the bonus but that will mean nothing. Why is there no BCS conference or 3-star+ deal breaker with these guys? I really don't think this recruiting system was tested well enough. Call me the next time the best pro-style QB in a high school class signs with anybody like Kent State or Memphis.
I remember asking if the computer would abuse the locksmith thing to make up for recruiting and overtake us and he didn't think so at the time. Seems I might have been right. I just think that the algorithm for what schools the recruit is interested in need to be tweaked. I do like this better than the previous iterations still.
Miami's class before the offseason week: I have two more scholarships left, but I'm going all in on QB Derek Riley. I have a small lead on the other schools so I should be able to land him with all 10,000 points. If I land the 5-star QB, I'll love this class. If I don't get him, I'll still be content with this group. Considering how many scholarships I had to fill I think this is a pretty good group. Also of note is the fact that almost every one of these guys in from Florida--I didn't have to branch out too far.
I only got 4 commits right now, but two of them I'm really excited about. The first one is Tavarious Jenson out Golden Glades, FL. The 4* RB was ranked outside the top 150, but after scouting him he is rated a 79. He should insert right into the Jones, Brown, Taylor group to give us 4 options. The second one I'm excited about is Jim Davis, 4* TE from Pinellas Park, FL. At 6-3, 225, we are looking at him to fill the void Trey Burton is leaving (and we need to use more).
Thank you. It will look a whole lot nicer if I can add an 80 overall QB to it. I got lucky and pretty much every three star I added in the preseason turned out to be a gem.
Wesley Kane, the prize of the Maryland recruiting class comitted to Maryland over the weekend. Kane who has the speed and agility of a running back also has the arm of QB. After likely redshirting, this kid will be a force for Coach Broth and his offense.
Derek Riley has finally committed to Miami. The 5-star pro-style QB will come in and compete for the starting job immediately. It would have been a shame to see a talent like his commit to Memphis... He has very limited mobility but an amazing arm.
#1 QB Earnest Young has announced he will be attending the University of Alabama in the fall after a long strung out decision making process; trying to decide between SEC powers Georgia or the Tide. Young, a dual threat signal caller, finally decided on Bama due in large part to the supposed change in offense along with staying in his home state. Word out of the Bama camp is that Coach Kasper is moving to the pistol offense and will look to soon to be senior Blake Sims to lead the transition. "Blake will be a huge help for Earnest to learn from for a year before being able to challenge for the starting role. As such, Young will likely redshirt for us," noted Kasper. Both Georgia and Alabama presented great opportunities for young, as the Bulldogs bid adeui to long time starter Aaron Murray while the tide send AJ McCarron to the pros finally. A glimpse into the future, but come 2 years from now when Young will likely lead the charge for hte #1 QB spot on the Bama roster, TJ Yeldon and Amari Cooper could both be hitting their senior years (pending they don't leave early)--- what an offense that could be...
I'd be curious to know what some other guys thought of their first class on the game. Any hidden gems? Fill the spots you needed?
