What are your opinions on the league schedule on a week-to-week basis? I personally like the 3 game per week schedule. 2 league matches + 1 cup or tournament match. Anything more than that becomes difficult to play and schedule matches. What are your opinions on the competition format of both the league and tournaments? As long as the league can maintain a large enough player pool, the competition really takes care of it's self with the relegation format. Sure, sometime new players come in at a much higher skill level in serie C, but they quickly get promoted. I think the competition aspect is perfect. What are your opinions on team selection and the ratings cap? That's a tough question to answer because we've always had the 4* cap. I've always thought there were a lot less 4.5* teams to choose from so players drafting high can pick a stronger rated team. However, with manual settings, I think this really evens the gap between teams. Player ratings make so much more of an impact on auto settings. What are your opinions on controller scheme? I really like manual passing. It makes the game really fun. One time passes are difficult, as they should be with manual. The game is really difficult with shooting and crossing on manual. Manual crossing really forces the user to setup a cross as opposed to doing a full sprint cross. Trying a sprint cross of manual is comical. It is basically impossible to put it in the box. I would recommend going with an all manual league. The number one reason is, we often notice FIFA semi controls are never consistent. We have always complained the controls are "broken" on semi. If we go manual, it will eliminate this altogether. However, there is a very large learning curve to manual in my opinion. But, once you get the hang of it, it's awesome! What are your opinions on the discipline system? Discipline system is perfect. The only thing I would add, is a column with unplayed games. Maybe instead of forfeiting unplayed games over the season, maybe have a points deduction system in place. What are we (management) good at? What areas can we improve? The management is phenomenal. Schedules are always posted in a timely fashion. Scores and stats updated almost immediately. Great job. Management is what keeps this league running so well. How can we improve our league-specific content generation? Bring back "Goals of the week". PS4 makes this alot easier. I say have 2 categories. 1 Best Goal of the Week. 2 Best Save or best play. What can the site admins do for our league? Maybe highlight the league on the main page to get the word out. Goal of the week posted outside of league specific forum. What ideas do you have for the league going forward? I think we need to look at the pressure rules further. By having pressure or stealing at the half really limits the game in my opinion. Have a full pitch defense will really open things up in my opinion. Maybe relaxing the rule by having full pitch pressure but only 2x player pressure in your defensive 1/2 of pitch. What are your plans for the PS4 switchover? Have a PS4 now. Will get FIFA15 on release date. General comments? Great league. Glad I'm apart of it.
*DISCLAIMER - I am basing my responses off PS4 league play as I have not participated in the tournaments. What are your opinions on the league schedule on a week-to-week basis? What are your opinions on the competition format of both the league and tournaments? I think the league schedule on a week to week basis is fairly manageable. Games last roughly 30 minutes, which is just long enough from a competitive stand point, but also not too long to be too time consuming to enjoy. What are your opinions on team selection and the ratings cap? Personally, I'd like to see an increase to 4.5 stars...for players a little less skilled (like myself), having a 4.5 star team may help even things out against a player like guayo....maybe we could set up a rating system that allows the weaker players to have stronger teams?? What are your opinions on controller scheme? I like the controller scheme and would not change anything. I think this makes for interesting matches. What are your opinions on the discipline system? I assume this is referring to suspension of players who accumulate yellow cards or red cards?? I am fine with this. What are we (management) good at? What areas can we improve? Management does a great job and I am super appreciative. One minor detail is organization of each match week matchups....it makes it much easier to have the opponents psn name and home vs away in the specific match week thread, as opposed to having to track back and look at the specific season thread that has the schedule, then look at the team/owner thread, etc. How can we improve our league-specific content generation? Maybe have interesting story lines develop throughout the season as if it were a news or magazine publication...maybe an article every other week or so...this could track league title races or goal scoring records, etc. What can the site admins do for our league? Hmmm...I'm not too sure what job site admins perform, so I'll leave that up to smarter people than me! What ideas do you have for the league going forward? I'd like to see the league grow for PS4 to have multiple leagues (maybe 3??) to help balance out the skill levels. Where can we recruit players from? FIFA 15 forums?? What are your plans for the PS4 switchover? I am playing on ps4 now. General comments? Thanks for the hard work and keeping this league running!!!
Can I also second this? I too will be a newcomer to PS4 and FIFA and think this is a great suggestion.
If people can be honest about this, I would support new comers to be able to use 4.5 or to be more clear, half a star above their cap for their first season for orientation (if we end up with manual). And then they can downgrade following season maybe?
Everybody is new comers, since it's a totally different system and a new game. Plus Liverpool would always be Frenchie1916 ' s team
I would play without Messi for 88 minutes if I could get Barcelona. Maybe play a goalie out on the field as well. Ha. But I keed, I'm terrible with them. I do like the idea for the new guys or less skilled players.
I kind of like the idea too to be honest, but do you think we should make it mandatory for new comers to join in preseason tournament and such, or have them play a few veterans to see where they stand. Blaze and Kasper are new comers( to TFS PS side) , but they sure are not less skilled I must say.
When I said newcomer, I meant the game or the control schema. Not the league. Adaptation to Fifa, not the league. And it's easy to spot the dishonesty. If you are in need of half a star advantage, you won't be kicking ass with that half a star difference. It will just help you a bit more at dealing with frustrations. It wouldn't take long to figure if someone wasn't honest about this. If he's playing like a pro and getting good results then there should be strict consequences. Like if this person is on a winning streak from the start, that doesn't sound right...
And if anyone wants to bring out the fact that, hey if rookies are playing rookies they'll get wins, well if there were enough rookies, they can be on their own division and they won't need the advantage. Just play a lot of friendlies with vets. You learn a lot from losing. Management can explain the benefits of playing friendlies with vet and not get frustrated by losses but try to learn something out of them. See what the vets do that rookies can't. And vets should be helpful with tips and hints to make the competition better. Well, that sounds too perfect of a world I guess, nevermind
I will obviously be a newcomer not only to the league but also FIFA and PS4 as I have been an xbox guy for the longest time. However, I do like the idea of having newcomers playing games against veterans and skilled players to see if the newcomer is able to get a 4.5 star team. I personally normally pick up on games fairly quickly so perhaps I wouldn't need a small advantage, then again I have never played FIFA and have heard it is a difficult game to grasp with the amount of buttons to use and tactics.
I think something similar was mentioned in one of the first responses, but I played in a league a few years ago where the 3rd tier league would play with 4.5-5 star, 2nd tier 3.5-4, top tier 3 stars. Yea it kind of makes being promoted less exciting, but it does help even out the playing field when it comes to Coppa tourneys or keeping the less skilled guys interested by being able to do more with better teams (especially if we're thinking about manual). Don't know if the Serie A guys would be happy playing with 3 stars, but if we're looking to even things out a bit between the talent levels, it worked in my past experiences.
I get the want for "leveling" out the playing field. But I don't want to dampen the excitement of the league of limiting team choices to clubs you don't even want to play as. No matter who you play as, at the end of the day the game falls on the shoulder of the user. The whole reason for tiers is to award those who are playing well and keep talent pools together. Almost seems to be punishing players for winning games. In my opinion, I have no problem with people playing as any team, 1*-5*. I get the cheese factor that is in FIFA especially with certain teams or players, but the game is much more fun when you play as the team you support/want to be.
First of all, we normally do have enough guys to have a third division - it's not just rookies, but also folks who have been relegated and are trying to fight their way back up the ladder. It's often the most fun division (in my humble opinion) and there's often the least amount of cheese and bitching from its participants about gameplay. Again, my observation from an insider's perspective. We're very hopeful to be back up to fighting strength by the time FIFA 15 rolls out and we'll have all three divisions. My problem with offering higher-ranked teams to "new" guys is new guys are often longtime FIFA players who storm the ranks of the league. I can think of five guys who have gone from Serie C to Serie A in straight seasons, all without the help of a half-star boost. As for allowing anyone to select any team... there are only 12 5-star club teams in the game (in FIFA 14). How do you allocate who gets to select which team? What's fantastic about this 4* cap is you learn about teams you otherwise wouldn't, instead of week in and week out of Barca, PSG, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, etc., etc., etc. Watching the World Cup, I know about more players because of playing in this league than anybody else in my soccer circles - role players on African sides, the central midfielder in Ecuador, etc. You learn more about the game by playing with this wider group of teams than you would in what I think would be a very static and boring league of the top 20 or 30 teams.
What are your opinions on the league schedule on a week-to-week basis? I thought 3 matches on average was realistic What are your opinions on the competition format of both the league and tournaments? I enjoyed the League Matches-and the Tourney as well- it got a little too convoluted for me when it got to be more than league and 1 tourney. - plus all the make up matches. I like the 4 Leagues system with Less Managers in each League- for a faster Season- my last Season felt like pulling teeth- it was long and plodding- and by the time we crossed half way through Season- it felt more like work than a fun escape- What are your opinions on team selection and the ratings cap? I have always thought that the disparity in skill could be fixed and more parity accomplished by allowing Managers with poorer records select teams first- similar to NBA Draft. 4 Star Squads was a good balance for game play-no killer super stars. Legacy rules are silly b/c there are Managers in TFS who are really good- you run into them with a lesser squad and your pretty much done. Plus I think it would be more challenging for better managers and lesser Managers can come into a match engaged rather than consigned to losing. What are your opinions on controller scheme? Semi. Manual adds to the lack of parity What are your opinions on the discipline system? I think Discipline system lacks teeth. What are we (management) good at? What areas can we improve? I still think this is the best league out here- long term members who are immersed into this league- I think near my last few Seasons it expanded too fast and the commitment from new managers were not as involved. Again it may have been a lot of factors- Improvement- not much really- How about taking this community into Facebook?? As a group- this Forum is great but having everyone on Facebook as Group could get people to take each other more seriously in matches rather than jet seeing names. How can we improve our league-specific content generation? I for one enjoyed doing content- but by the end It was a lot of time committed to content. Without trying to sound like a complete douche- I think rewarding those who generate content would generate content- in the end only Reward this League has to bait Managers with is Draft Position- so maybe ann end of the Season Award for best content? What can the site admins do for our league? n/a What ideas do you have for the league going forward? I would like to return soon er rather than later. - it would be great if there is a way to return to some sort of customization w/o all the cheating - fewer managers per league- so Seasons are more efficient - What ever happened to Club?? What are your plans for the PS4 switchover? - already switched General comments? Its a great league- with a lot of committed members- the natural progression for this league will probably be custom rosters- either managed through the game itself or even on an outside forum and just played online.
Probably already has been suggested and I've probably missed it, but when we switch to Ps4 we can easily stream every game. Could create like a match of the week to be promoted for that week to get more people to watch ect. Or just take advantage twitch in general
If admins are willing to discuss, I'm sure I could aid in working out a way to do transfer windows and custom rosters. If we still have no way to play a lg format in 15
Suggestion: Vote for or get picked by management or management provide candidates for vote, for best content providing (overall taking into consideration of quantity and quality combined) member (or couple members) throughout the season for a bump in draft order for following season?
What are your opinions on the league schedule on a week-to-week basis? 2 Matches + 1 Cup is my preference. Any more than that and it seems like we start seeing tons of backlogged matches. What are your opinions on the competition format of both the league and tournaments? Thumbs Up. What are your opinions on team selection and the ratings cap? With the number of members in the league, I'd prefer to see a 4.5 Cap. I understand the spirit of the cap, however IMO the top 4 star teams are really just a hairpin behind the 4.5 teams anyway. This leads to the first few picks having really strong teams while the later picks having "3.5-esque" type teams. 4.5 still eliminate Super Powers like the Madrids, Barcelonas, PSGs, etc. But a team like Schalke, Porto, Zenit, etc are 4.5 teams that seem to fit in with what we are trying to accomplish. What are your opinions on controller scheme? I enjoy full manual. Opens up the pitch for creativity and slows the game down naturally without having to add in dozens of gameplay rules to "fix" the game. What are we (management) good at? What areas can we improve? Coming from the XBox side of the house, I've been very impressed with the leadership on the PS4 side. Issues seem to be discussed like mature adults and there seems to be an emphasis on a fun, simulation futbol experience. In past leagues I've seen cliques and gameplay witch hunts lead to veteran members walking away. Once your vets walk away, the league crumbles in short order. I also like the emphasis on content and the real life footie chat with folks who actually know the game. How can we improve our league-specific content generation? Content is a tough issue to police. Personally, I've been thrilled with the PS4 Twitch Integration and love recording and posting my matches. If more people did this, I really feel like it would create a whole new element to scouting, entertainment, and longevity. Sure it takes an extra few moments to capture and upload, but I think that it would be great if more people posted video summaries. (I can provide instructions for anyone who does not know how to do this). What can the site admins do for our league? n/a What ideas do you have for the league going forward? -4.5 Star options. -more video integration What are your plans for the PS4 switchover? - already switched. Absolutely loving the PS4 environment.
