With Christmas here and everyone getting the obligatory VISA gift cards, I was wondering if anyone here will pick up PES? I can say I won't ever give up on my beloved FIFA as I love too many things about the game.. Randy's TFL has been a huge success, Clubs is always fun and I also used to be a hard core ranked games guy (although not so much the last couple of years). I have been wanting to get into the ranked games aspect of FIFA again but I keep reading on the FIFA forums of the cheese abusers as you rank up. Career Mode can be pretty fun for a while but my interest seems to die out on that also. The Be A Pro Career Mode was very fun while I was trying to build up my Pro for the club but I haven't played clubs in ages. I would like to get back in the clubs with you guys but it just seems you all play pretty late at night and the only time I could ever play would be like an occasional Friday or Saturday night. This leads me to PES.. I haven't played the PES series since the Winning Eleven days but would be willing to give it a go. I would absolutely love to try the online league feature. I know it would be different as the controls I hear are different but I imagine everyone would be in the same boat as myself... learning as we go. People always talk about the licensing aspect of PES but you can download squad and kit updates I believe so this wouldn't even be an issue. I've heard that some say the FIFA gameplay is better and I've also heard PES has made a great game this year and it almost rivals FIFA or even surpassed it. If it even comes close to FIFA in the gameplay aspect I think it's worth a shot as it would be so much fun having an Online League with transfers, budgets, champions league, etc.. If we could only find a couple of guys to give PES a try I'd be happy to give it a go. I'm a huge Futbol fan in general and would love to be in a online league with some of you. Any interest??
Yeah there is dude.. In that article, it just says that the online wasn't up yet (Oct 1st). It works now I believe. I have a couple of buddies that have the game, I'll ask them about it.
I also have extra cash from the holiday, but I am not a basketball fan. If PES is that good, I would consider it for some offline play. I heard you can run an offline Champions League (and I assume others) through it since they have the license.
Come on Pa and Randy, let's get PES. I'm 99% sure there are online master leagues. We would all be starting from scratch as I have not played in about 5 years. It would be fun to have an online league, even if it was only 3 of us. Player Transfers, budgets, Champions leagues, seems like a ton of fun.
If anybody else get this game, I would give it a shot. I would probably trade in all my other games and just play the futbol games then. Sooo AJ put a check by my name.
I'm now thoroughly confused as to what the online master league really is. I was trolling through the PES forums and all I could see is that it's basically start a team from scratch and buy players and enter tournaments and such.. I looked for awhile about having a league with friends and didn't really see much. Maybe someone else could take a look. All I did was google PES forums and a bunch of crap popped up.
Can you please stop with the PES talk and this online master league crap. You're gonna make me go buy it. I'm getting more tempted everytime I read a post. We'll end up with a bunch of worthless copies of PES at the end of this story. It's been a few years since I played PES. I think I stopped with the release of FIFA09.
I have just rented this about an hour ago and am already hooked on the offline master league. The game play is very different to Fifa in a good way I think as it is more realistic especially where the keepers are concerned. Master league by far beats the Fifa management mode in my opinion as you employ coaching staff n doctors etc etc. Also if you don't watch you finances you can easily go bankrupt lol. You can also configure the buttons so it plays the same as Fifa so nothing to learn on that front. Like I say I have only had it an hour or so but am road testing it for a week and will look into what is possible online ie leagues etc. My first opinion is that I am 90% gonna buy it especially if we get interest from others. I always used to prefer PES over Fifa years ago purely because the bs things we all know Fifa has but all my mates dished it because of the team names etc and the fact it doesn't have Fifa on the cover which are 2 bad reasons in my opinion because: A: you can edit the team names in about an hour if you really feel the need B: Fifa get things wrong in real life also lol. so I moved over to Fifa to get games and play with them. It is definitely well worth renting just to have a look and see if it delivers. As the week goes on I will keep you updated on my findings as I go.
Nice!! I know Randy loves it also.. After hearing that both of you like it, I will pick it up shortly.
Ok so I have just realised that you can earn game points for games played etc which you can spend to build your own stadium or adapt an existing one as well as buy player packs which gives you 4 random classic players. It also looks like you can buy emblems etc to create your own kit. This looks like a cool feature to me hope its as good as it looks. I have also had a play with the tactics sliders and they make a real difference to how your team plays and player positions etc. Also in master league if you play a player in a position he doesn't like or you don't play him he gets upset and looses confidence etc which shows when he plays and if you keep upsetting him apparently he will request a transfer.
If you can make a fully online league (someone confirm that's what an online Master League is?) that would be awesome. Either way, reading through this thread makes me really wanna pick up the game. I have some giftcards to gamestop so I may swing by there and pick it up soon. Count me (tentatively) in if you guys do a PES league.
Found this over on OS... --------------------- Found this on the PES site: Player support: So this basically this dictates how teammates move around the ball carrier, so it's correct in it's called player support, where it's confusing is offensive and defensive. So values 1-6, what they do is make players provide options sideways and many backwards 'safe options' to the ball carrier. So with Barca for example, this is set to 0, so it makes Barca play a lot of safe, backwards, sideways passes, So overall it means, 'slow orientated build up'. values 7-13 (balanced) Just means teams will attack normally and player on the ball as standard look for options ahead of them unless the player isn't in clear space, teammates won't always run ahead of the ball carrier. values 14-20 means fast attacking, team mates always look to get ahead of the ball carrier and the team is encourages to look only for forward passes! Support Range: Support range shows how close the players stay to around the ball carrier, so values 1-6 mean the players keep close together, (Barcelona Arsenal) it's useful for short passing game, tiki taka etc.. 7-13 is standard 14-20 means players spread away from the ball carrier, this is useful for teams that counter, and teams like Stoke etc.. for long balls, Long passing game hoofball etc.. Position Switch Position switch dictate how much freedom players have to temporarily play in different designated positions or switch places with players in similar positions. 1-6 means player rarley if ever switch positions (tactically disciplined) 7-13 means players will now and gain switch with players in a similar position, so for example the left central midfielder and right central midfielder or two strikers will change the sides they are playing, same with centre backs even. 14-20 is similar to that above but If a player finds himself out of postion he will then take up the nearest position designated for a while, the drop back to his designated position. So for example i a center back charges forward, if he ends up in midfield he will stay there for a bit,t hen move back, same with striker coming back to defend. It's built to give you the option to give your players the choice to swap around a bit in bid to confuse the opposition and say if a center back is getting the better of a striker, maybe swap for a secound with a winger and see if it confuses him. Attacking Style: Attacking style is quite important for player runs and general player movement when attacking. 1-6 means players will drift and congregate out in wide positions to support he ball carrier in making attacking moves out wide 7-13 (balanced) players will maintain their shape 14-20 players will congregate more in the middle, and wide men for example will come inside to offer support through the middle. Pressing Pressing is both how intense your team presses the oppositions ball carrier and also i've noticed a zonal element to this. 1-6 (loose) makes players stand off the ball carrier and the player will focus much more and working with his teammates as a unit. 7-13 players, won't actively close down the opposition, they will tend to hod shape unless the opposing ball carrier enter is, well 'zone' (Zonal marking) Maybe. 14-20 tight players will actively close down the opposition, 14-20 dictates how intense they move out of their formations shape to meet the ball carrier Defensive Line: Self explanatory really 1-6 Deep 7-13 Normal 14-20 High Compactiviness: This dictates how closely compacted your team is when closing in around the ball carrier 1-6 The team forms up as a unit very tightly in the center of the pitch 7-13 Normal 14-20 The team spreads out around the ball carrier. Finally you should now that: 1-6 and 14-20 dictate how extreme you want your team style to be for each parameter so 14 is say relatively far from the ball carrier and 20 is very far etc.. 7-13 Dictates you wan a balance but with a slight favor towards a parameter. So 7 or 8 would mean your players your players would move slightly out wide, and say 11 12 would make them move slightly towards the middle etc..
Ok I just played my first online match Birmingham City v Real Madrid. We had a red connection but the game play was awesome not choppy or anything server was great. Real attacked in numbers but turned the ball over I played a cute through ball to jerome who split the defence and slotted the ball home passed the keeper I then was able to defend hard for a 1 0 win. Very very impressed with the realism of the online play it has a momentum system but it is realistic you can defend against it. I find that with Fifa at the end of the game that seems to be not possible most of the time. The other guy hit the post twice and the cross bar once along with my keeper making some good saves. I have only played 1 game so far but if its all like this its awesome online. No change in gameplay between online n offline also if you commit to many players forward and turn the ball ove you will get hurt lol. I don't play Fifa online cos of the way so many people unrealistic manipulate formations etc etc and again It is only 1 game but I didnt see that here. I do think if you did you may well not benefit. If PES guys are all or mostly like this I can see me enjoying plaing online a lot more. You probably will still see the big names a lot but you can beat them so maybe they arent so dominant in this game or the guy I played wasnt that great I cant answer that 1 all I can say is I am a lot more keen to find out. I wish the game wasnt going back on friday lol. That tells you something.
Both Del and I messed around with this quite a bit yesterday. There appears in-game support for 8 players, however there is no set schedule. Pretty sure its about as bare-bones as FIFA where setup home/away matches and then play them in your own time. Personally, I like structure, which is why we use League Republic, Google Docs, etc...
To follow-up, both Del and I put a bit more time into the PES online league feature last night, but to no avail. In the coming days we will dig a little deeper into this, perhaps looking to the PES site for guidance and then to see how this would be implemented. Therefore, if others are interested in this game, I would consider getting something similar to the TFL going for this title. Besides, if your a futbol fan, the offline play in this game, which due to the superior CPU AI, is top-notch. The learning curve is steep and the game is very SIM. You will be challenged on the medium setting (normal difficulty) as the AI makes great use of the tactics to compensate for your management style and in-game tactics.
I am going to go pick the game up from best buy today. Excited about it. Do they have the ability to edit the rosters and then saving and exporting them for others to use a la NCAA Football? I woud be interested in participating in a league as well if we do one. -Chris
Fucking Del and Randy, I've had it.. I started this thread and I think it's about time I pick up the damn thing.
