We started the game with 2 1st quarter td's. Devrin Young and Tom Smith both ran for one to lead us to a 14-0 1st quarter lead. Utah came back to score 17 2nd quarter points. 14 of those were TD passes from Utah QB Cox, one of which was scored with 11 seconds in the half. Utah took a 17-14 lead into the half but the 2nd half belonged to Tennessee. After a 40 yard run by Devrin Young where he actually knocked over the pylon but was ruled out of bounds at the goal line, we punched it in with our full back to take a 21-17 lead. Utah was able to kick a field goal early in the 4th quarter to cut the lead to 21-20. We scored a safety with 4 minutes left after pinning Utah inside their 5 yard line to move the lead to 23-20. We were forced to punt however after killing some clock and Utah got the ball back with about 2 minutes to go, from their own 8, with all three timeouts, and down 3. It looked like another lucky ass Max comebacks for a few moments. He moved the ball out to about the 30 but threw a pick 6 (pictured) with 1:23 left in the game to give Tennessee a 30-20 lead. Utah was able to move the ball down the field without calling any timeouts and was able to kick a field goal to cut into the Tennessee lead 30-23. However they were unable to recover the onside kick and we killed the rest of the clock to preserve the big 30-23 win on Rocky Top. There are a few stats that really speak volumes about this game. Tennessee 3 red zone trips, 21 points. Utah 2 red zone trips, 6 points. The 2 Utah turnovers were both big, and the last one was a back breaker. Devrin Young, who played most of the game after a concussion to starting HB Tom Smith ran 19 times for 143 yards and 2 tds. Utah QB Cox went 12-27 for 241 yds 2 tds and 2 int's. Next up for Tennessee is a bye week and after that #5 Oklahoma. GG Max...I was due.
