Ohio State blows out Oregon 45-0 in the Zoo.

It was the site of College GameDay and was pronounced game of the week. This was no surprise to anyone, though, as fans of college football and been eagerly anticipating this match up for months. The game pit back to back national champions Oregon against Big Ten perennial power Ohio State.

The Ducks won the toss, and elected to kick the ball of to start. This was about the only thing the home team won all day. Ohio State found themselves out in front early following a 43 yard TD pass to Allen and moved the lead to double digits with a pass to Lewis. The Buckeyes continued to man handle the Ducks on both sides of the ball, scoring two more times in the first half to go into the half up by 28.

It looked like it was over for Oregon. The hopes of an undefeated season and another shot at a title would be gone unless they could band together and play an unbelievable half of football.

Unfortunately, that didn't happen, as the Buckeyes scored on a 57 yard screen pass their first time with the ball and tacked on a 53 yard field goal. The Ducks began passing the ball out of five receiver sets on every play this half, trying to score quickly, but passing the ball isn't where the Ducks are strong and Ohio State is superb in coverage. They were never really able to get much going. Oddly enough, the Oregon Coach could not be found on the sidelines during the 4th quarter. There is currently a lot of speculation on where he went, but nobody really knows for sure. In the fourth, the Buckeyes ran the clock out, and ended up scoring one last TD to give them a big win.

Oregon fans left Autzen Stadium looking sad and dejected. A few fights broke out when unhappy Oregon fans attacked Ohio State fans who were openly gloating in the parking lots surrounding the stadium.

Coach Killernuts was ecstatic to have gotten such a big win in his first game coaching for Ohio State and it looks like he might be able to back up that promise of reaching the national title game.

Depending on how the season shakes out, this game could end up being the Rose Bowl Matchup!
