Prior to their week one game against the Washington Huskies, the Oregon Ducks gained the hard commitment of two high school athletes.

Dual-thread quarterback Lonnie Woods was the first to sign with the Ducks. Woods, who hails from El Cajon, CA, is only 5'11" and 212 lbs., but this kid can be compared to Michael Vick as far as his on-field performance goes. Woods has an extremely powerful arm that is decently accurate, but where he differs from most of his fellow quarterbacks is with his legs. Lonnie has B speed, B agility, and B acceleration to go along with his A- awareness. Woods will add very viable depth at the quarterback position that is currently occupied by two underclassmen, and he will most likely redshirt in 2009.

Danny Church, a balanced guard from Davenport, IA, was the second of two to sign with the Ducks in week 1. Church is a tall guy, standing at 6'5" and weighing in at 286 lbs. He will have to put on some weight in college, but has very good blocking skills to go along with A awareness. To best set himself up for success at the collegiate level, Danny will need to add about 20 pounds of MUSCLE to his large frame. Church will also most likely redshirt in 2009.
