    Penn State vs Kent State
    W 44-14

The Nittany Lions answered alot of questions today in their 2010 season opener. RS FR Kevin Newsome threw for 429 yds and 2 TD with 1 INT in his first career start. His go to reciever was Chaz Powell who hauled in 12 rec for 195 yds with 2 TD's. Derek Moye also contributed with 143 yds recieving. Stephfon Greenied the running game with 92 yds and 4TD's. Kevin Latham led the defense with 3 sacks. Penn State outgained Kent State 534 to 172. Next weeks game with Alabama should be a better test of whether Penn State is reloading or rebuilding.

    Penn State @ Ole Miss
    W 49-28

Ole Miss kept this one fairly close. Penn State was without its star RB Stefon Green, so the coaches decided to test their young QB. Sticking to the pass, the young QB fought off early int's to produce a school record 551 yds in the air. The ball was spread out well with 3 different WR's going over 100yds rec. The Nittany Lions should have Green back when they start league play next week. We will see if they can carry their momentum as they reach the heart of their Big Ten games.

Penn State's defense gave up 481yds and offensively had the ball for only 5:45 with 218 yds and 6 first downs. So how do you score 52 points and win by 21. Special teams and turnovers. Penn State returned 3 KR's, 1 PR, and had a pic 6.

In a battle for the Big Ten title the Nittany Lions fall short in thios back and forth shootout. Kevin Newsom threw for over 300 yds for the 5th time this year. Stefphon Green carried the load with 134 yds 2Td's rushing including a 77 yd burst. Penn State had trouble all day containing RB Terrel Pryor who scrambled for a game high 188 yds, converting several 3rd down conversions. Penn State's schedule favors them in hopes to still recieve an at large bcs bowl birth.

WOW...Penn State struggled early but eventually built a 3 TD lead. But when the Nittany Lions were unable to establish a running game and a few INT's later the Fighting Illini stormed back with a 35 point 4th quarter and took the lead with under a minute left. Penn State was able to score on their last drive to pull out the win in this barn burner.

Kevin Newsome rewrote the record book throwing for 609 yds and 4 TD's. His inexperiance still showed as his 3 INT's turned this Penn State blowout into almost an Illinois upset. Stephfon Green was held to 27yds on 12 carries. Newsome also contributed 3 TD's rushing including the go ahead score on the final drive.

Chaz Powell had 8 rec for 221 yds and 2 TD's. Green was unable to get it going on the ground but broke the 100yd mark receiving for the first time in his career.

The Nittany Lions Defense continued to struggle giving up 499yds and a season high 49 points.
