    2010 - 2011 Preseason Preview [Big 12]

    Big 12

    Oklahoma Sooners

2009- Riddled with injuries the Sooners didn't have that bad of a season. Considering they lost QB Sam Bradford in their first game with their first loss against BYU, they seemed to recover against Idaho St and Tulsa by destroying them with shut out games. Then they came back and lost a nail bitter to Miami and Texas. They lost superstar TE Jermaine Gresham and Sam Bradford (again) in the Texas game. Things started looking grim when they lost to Nebraska. It seemed like they just couldn't win against other powerhouse schools without Bradford.

What to watch for- DeMarco Murray and Landry Jones. The Sophomore QB Landry Jones put up some pretty good numbers last season but had a terrible game against the pressure defense of Nebraska. In that game he went 26-58 245 yards 0 TDs and 5 INTs. He seemed more consistent at the end of the season, especially the win over Stanford in the Sun Bowl. With Chris Brown gone it appears that Murray will be getting all the carries this season. Murray is a very versatile back who has the break away speed to make some big plays. It will be interesting to see how they will do without OT Trent Williams anchoring the line for the Sooners. Watch out for JR WR Ryan Broyles who will be Landry's go to target.

Defensively they lost the beast DT Gerald McCoy. They still have a lot of talent on this side of the ball and will still be an effective defense.
