    2010 - 2011 Preseason Preview [Big Ten]

    Big Ten

    Ohio State Buckeyes

2009- For consecutive years the Buckeyes couldn't defeat USC and struggled against Navy but when they lost to Purdue there were some serious doubt about Jim Tressel and the future of this program. The defense started to come together after the Purdue game and the offense really started to click which provided a huge victory against Penn State then Michigan.

What to watch for- Terrelle Pryor and a loaded defense. 7 starters are coming back on defense (4 lineman and 3 defensive backs). With a strong recruiting class they wil have plenty of talent to provide serious depth on defense. Pryor accuracy and decision making is still a concern for the Buckeyes since he threw over 11 INTs but there's no doubt this guy can play football, throwing over 2000 yards and 18 TDs and running over 779 yards as the teams leading rusher with 7 TDs.

The schedule seems to be in favor with the Buckeyes this year by not having USC to play. The 3 tough games are against Miami, Wisconsin and Iowa.

    Michigan Wolverines

2009- The Wolverines started the year better than last year (Lost to Utah) going 4-0 with a amazing victory over Notre Dame. But then they received their first loss to Michigan St it didn't look good. Then they lost to Iowa but rebounded with a crushing victory against Delaware St but completely fell apart losing Penn State, Illinois, Purdue, Wisconsin and Ohio State. Losing to Illinois proved to be fatal for Michigan.

What to watch for- Tate Forcier, Denard Robinson, and a experienced defense. Defensively they have a lot of starters coming back but lost 3 huge impact players DE Graham, LB Brown, and CB Warren. It will be interesting to see how they fill these holes.

Offensively at the skill positions they are still young but very promising. With Tate Forcier leading the pack he has shown the ability to make some plays. If he can stay healthy this year the offense should be more productive. Robinson showed that he can be an explosive threat when he comes into the game by accumalating over 5 yards a carry and throwing 2 TDs.

The Michigan schedule looks to be a daunting one with 8 bowl teams to play. 3 out of the first 4 games will be against bowl teams. Penn State and Ohio State are away games and Iowa then Wisconsin at home. Being 115th in the nation last year in turnovers they have some work ahead of them.

    Illinois Fighting Illini

2009- Last season was a disaster for this program. With an offense that went nowhere and an defense that couldn't stop much - they really played some sloppy football. Heading into this season they were thought to have a one of the best high scoring offenses in the nation with SR QB Juice Williams leading the charge and the best receiving corp in the NCAA. This all sputtered in disaster as Juice just couldn't get any rhythm flowing, even with all the talent around him. The highlights of the 3-9 season was beating a struggling Michigan team and Minnesota.

What to watch for- Jacob Charest and a defense that struggled last year. Being last in your division in sacks and tackles means there is a lot work that needs to be done. They have 8 starters returning this year on defense which will need to get some kind of pressure on their opponents.

Will Sophmore Charest have what it takes to get the pass game going? He showed signs of leadership in a winning effort against Minnesota by throwing for 185 yards and 1 TD. Will the young O-Line provide enough time for Charest to get the ball out to their big playmakers? Who are their big playmakers? Arrelious Benn went pro, will RB Jason Ford or Mike Leshoure have what it takes to make the needed big plays? There's a lot of questions about this team come 2010.

Will they lay down and just take it again this year?

    2011 Preview Illinois

    Illinois Fighting Illini

2010- "The Cinderella Story" would best describe the past season for Illinois. Started the season on a bad note losing to Missouri 24-21 and had some very close games victories against Purdue and Minnesota. Illinois showed that they belong with the big boys when they defeated Penn State, Ohio State and Michigan (won by a FG in all 3 games). They would go on an 11 game win streak to get a bid to the Rose Bowl and again answered the call to defeat another powerhouse in USC. This thrilling game ended with Illinois on top 38-28. Will they be able to continue this win streak in 2011?

    Ohio State Buckeyes

2010- Started the season with a bang by smashing Texas 42-7 which immediately caused Texas coach Maize Grenade into early retirement (he quit) lol. Ohio St would continue their momentum defeating Miami but lost a heartbreaker to Illinois. They would go on to win their next 7 games defeating notable teams like Penn State, Wisconsin, and Michigan. The Buckeyes would finish the season defeating Washington 56-28 in their Bowl game. Terrelle Pryor got injured midseason but the Buckeyes did pretty well without him except in their losing effort to Illinois. Will Terrelle be able to stay healthy this season and get to the BCS?

    Notable returning players-
Name Position Rating Year Height and Weight
Pryor, Terrelle QB 98 Senior 6'6" 234 lbs
Posey, DeVier WR 97 Senior 6'2" 207 lbs

    Michigan Wolverines

2010- The Wolverines went 4-0 to begin the season defeating notable teams like Notre Dame 35-27 then came up short against Indiana who made the huge upset against Michigan 41-31. Michigan would defeat Penn St. and Wisconsin but come up short against Ohio St and Illinois. Losing Qb Denard Robinson early in the season really took the spark out of the Wolverine offense. Now that Robinson transferred it will be interesting to see how QB Forcier will lead this offense without the dual threat backup.

    Notable returning players-
Name Position Rating Year Height and Weight
    Molk, David C 99 Senior (RS) 6'2" 272 lbs
Martin, Mike DT 95 Senior 6'2" 296 lbs
Forcier, Tate QB 90 Junior 6'1" 195 lbs
Smith, Vincent HB 90 Junior 5'6" 171 lbs
