Coach Bulgy Calls Surprise Press Conference

    Murphy out 8 weeks

Baton Rouge- Caoch Bulgy called a surprise press conference after practice today to announce an injury to a star player, the second in as many weeks.

Senior All American Richard Murphy has been knocked out of the starting lineup for as long as 8 weeks. He suffered the injury in the second half against the Florida Gators. The injury leaves the Tigers with paper thin depth at RB.

The Tigers have 5 Running Backs on scholarship, but 2 are being redshirted. Mike Ford a RS Fr. and Drayton Calhoun also a RS FR are the only 2 RB left on the depth chart. Coach Bulgy knows that depth has now become an issue and will remove Mike Ford from the kick return team to spare some of the pounding his body takes. It is not known at this time who will step up to fill that role, but Bulgy expects someone to step up in practice this week.

The Tigers have lost two starters on offense in the last 2 weeks. Jordan Jefferson went down in the Tigers win over Vandy in Nashville. Russell Shepard has filled in well for the Tigers. Jefferson will presumably return in time for the Tigers much anticpated matchup with the Alabama Crimson Tide. Muprhy may have played his last game as a Tiger.

"Obviously it hurts to lose a player of that caliber but Mike and Drayton we feel can step up in his absence and play well. Mike already has a 200 yard game under his belt, and we will just try to spread the carries between them and also Russell and our WR."

LSU better hope the players can step up and play well. They are staring down the chance to play for the SEC title in Atlanta. And that berth could be sewn up or lost in the Alabama game.
