    OU 37 - Wisconsin 10

OUInsider: Congratulations on the big win coach. How do you like opening the season playing FSU & Wisconsin?

Coach Wildcatter: Well, we really respect both programs. We realize we are lucky to get by these two teams at 2-0 and without any injuries.

OUInsider: The defense seems to really be hitting on all cylindars.

Coach Wildcatter: I can't say enough about the performance of the defense so far this season. The defense only gave up 3 points to Wisconsin and held their rushing attack to 27 yards. I believe those guys only had 170 yards of total offense on the day. The defensive line has just been outstanding. We need to get better in the defensive backfield but those guys have the talent to get it done.

OUInsider: How is QB Landry Jones progressing along with the offense?

Coach Wildcatter: Well, Landry is a young QB. No one expected him to have the same type of performances as Sam Bradford. Comparing him to a Hesiman trophy winner and top 5 draft pick is just not fair on the guy. He is still learning and developing chemistry with his wide receivers. But, we will continue to work hard and hope to get his accuracy & efficiency improved.

Next up, the Sooners will have their second bye of the season in week 4.

    Injury Update

The Oklahoma Sooners received heartbreaking news this afternoon as RB, Jermie Calhoun was injured in the 2nd quarter versus the Oklahoma State Cowboys. He will miss at least the next 7 weeks. Calhoun was proving to be a key weapon for the Sooners offensive attack. The Sooners will have to call upon a true freshman backup.

I'm still devastated. Calhoun was making some unbelievable runs this season. I will just have to go with a running back by committee and see what happens...

WhyGod comes in and revamps the offensive system. Unfortunately, his qbs were not ready for quick reads and strong pressure. The result free points and field position for Texas.

5 picks later while being strangled by his coach QB1 is mumbling something about running the plays that were called.

After the game coach WhyGod was reached for comment:

Oklahoma bounces back from its loss to Texas by destroying an inferior Iowa State team. With a 42 – 0 lead at the half, Oklahoma was able to play their backups for the entire second half.

Jones managed 374 yards and 5 Tds but still threw 2 concerning picks to a weak ISU defense. True freshamn RB Doughterty, forced to play by an injury to the starter and a bare HB cupboard, ran for 130 yards and had one TD rushing and passing.

Broyles took advantage of weak corners to break off 189 yards and 4 Tds on just 6 receptions.

Sooners shut out the tigers. QB issues plagued the Sooners. Jones was knocked out for the game early, and the backup allen missed most of the 3rd quarter. With the other qb on the depth chart redshirting and the game inhand the sooners had no quarterback for 2 positions. With the sooner D playing as it was, it really did not matter.

    Highlights(kinda lame, no big plays)

    Texas A&M 7

    L. Jones: 29/45, 345 yards, 2 TD, 2 INT
    M. Dourghety: 12 Carries, 62 yards, TD
    Broyles: 7 rec, 122 yards, 3 TD

Oklahoma dominates the aggies on defense While landry Jones picks apart the aggies secondary. With a forth quarter 11 Week injury to Dourghety, the sooners are forced to unredshirt the last heathy HB on their roster: Eric Joseph. Joseph was a highschool QB being moved to HB, so opponents might expect some trickeration from a hurting sooners running game.

no video this week, based on my youtube hits only one/two people was watching them.

    L. Jones: 11/19 271 yards, 3 TD
    R. Broyles: 8 Rec, 272 yards, 2 TD
    E. Joseph: 4/5 145 yards, 26 carries 182 yards, 1 rec 9 yards, 3 TD

With Eric Joseph in the game WhyGod opens up his bag of tricks. The first play from scrimmage was a 71 yard Touchdown pass from Joseph to TE Buchanan. Joseph follow that up with a 68 yard Touchdown rush on the next drive. Broyles shows why he is a heisman canidate by burning the week Red Rader CBs averaging an amazing 34 yards per catch. But you really can not expect a team with all true freshman corners to be able to contain a WR like broyles.

    E. Joseph: 29 att, 174 yards, 4 td
    R. Broyles: 7 rec 127 yards, td

OU Defense dominates and the sooners coast to 58 points. Looks like Broyles is going to come up short in the heisman race.

A new season is here and a new offensive gameplan for the sooners. Returning 4 stellar senior WR the team has switched to the june jones Hawaii playbook to utilize as many 4 wr sets as possible. And boy were they utilized in week 1.

    OU 59
    Tulsa 20

    Passing:
    Jones: 24/28 516 yards 5 TD

    Recieving:
Caleb: 8 rec 149 yards TD
    Kenny: 6 rec 161 TD
    Miller: 6 rec 132 2TD
    Owens: 4 rec 74 TD

    Rushing:
    Moore: 21 carries 145 yards 3 TD
    Joseph: 9 carries 105 yards

    Def:
    Rucker: 9 tackles 6 sacks

Jones connected with his 4 senior WRs for 516 yards. The Tulsa def could not cover one pro prospect WR, let alone four.
