    2010 The Rise MVP

Welcome to the 2010 The Rise MVP race. Each team is allowed to nominate 1 player from their team who they think deserves be league MVP. We will also nominate players from each conference to be conference MVP.

Here are the rules. The players may only be Juniors or Seniors (basically NFL eligible). We will use an application process in order to get players nominated. Only 1 player person season will win MVP. Same goes for Conference MVP. Please read these rules completely so we do not have any mishaps.

Here is the sample application that everyone should go off of when submitting players they would like to vote as MVP. We will have a voting session to decide who gets in. In the event of a tie..Hov, myself and JC will decided the winner.

    Sample App

    Last Name: Lawrence

    Team: Texas Oregon

Record of Team for years he was there: 11-3, 11-2, 13-1 (35-5)
    Conference Titles: 2 (2011, 2013)
    National Titles: 1
    Bowl Games/Wins: 2

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Coach Comments: Lawrence was a star from the moment he stepped on campus. After red shirting for a season, he was thrust into the starting position due to the departure of incumbent LaMichael James. Even though Lawrence was in a time share, he did amass an amazing 2,590 total yards (1,074 from scrimmage) and 15 TD's. In his Sophmore year, Lawrence put up similar numbers from the year before, but missed a handful of games due to injuries. In Lawrence's final season with the Duck he arguably put up one of the best seasons in College football history by a HB. 2535 yards, 32 rushing TD's 7.5 ypc, 30 rushes of over 20 yards good for 181.1 yards a game, all while leading his team to a national title. Be sure to include a photo of your player (take one in your next game for the person you want to nominate)

Please post all applications here. You have until after all bowl games (to get all stats finalized) to get it in. Once all bowl games have been played we shall begin the voting.

    Voting Rules
    League MVP
Each member may only vote once and they are NOT allowed to vote for their own player (otherwise we would all be voting for our own player). I will create the voting post when time comes.

    Conference MVP
Each conference will have it's own MVP. Here is how the voting will work. You must compile the stats from conference games only, non-conference games do not count here. Anyway, say we are voting for Big 10 MVP, no one in the Big 10 is allowed to vote for the conference MVP, instead the remaining 9 members must vote on the Big 10. Same as Big East, PAC 10, and ACC. Once again, this is so we do not create unfair advantages. Any questions on this and I will answer the best I can. The post for this will go up before conference championships.

The same player may be used for both awards. You may also nominate two different. So you have the potential to win both awards.

Have fun with this and may the nominations BEGIN!!

Coach Comments: Gantt has really been a standout player this season. Each game he sees a fair amount of passes thrown his way. And what player wouldn't who is always open. He isn't the fastest around but he has the ability to make a catch and get some yards. He is a great blocker, no one can get by him. It seems the defense forgets he is there, which is why Kirk Cousins has made him one of his favorite targets to get the ball to. We really utilize our TEs here at Michigan State and Gantt is one of the best around. And this is why I am nominating him not just as Big 10 MVP but for League MVP.

2010 Season Stats (will be updated as they change)

    Total Tackles: 71

    Assisted Tackles: 17
    Tackles for Loss: 10
    Pass Deflections: 2
    Fumble Recovery: 1

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Coach Comments: Williams is a phenomenal player. Not only is he one of the smartest players on the team, he is one of the best run stoppers in the Big Ten and the league. We have worked on his man and zone coverage, but Williams always wants to be hitting people. This is the reason he is at the top of the leading tacklers nearly every week. He is the strongest part of our defense and has saved our asses more than a few times. I would nominate this kid for anything he is up for.

Scott Lutrus was the main factor throughout the Huskie season. His solid play on defense kept the team in the game on countless occasions. He is not as skillfull as some of the other candidates, but as you can see by his stats he is one of the best defenders in college football. His 70 tackles puts him in 1st in the NCAA in tackles. He is a wonderful player in all aspects of the game.

Since no one really nominated anyone and it was the first season, it will be a three way tie between Gantt, Williams, and Lutrus for League MVP. Big East MVP is Lutrus and Big 10 MVP is Gantt and Williams sharing.

Hopefully this goes over better next season....
