USF Bulls narrowly escape with a victory in their home opener against Buffalo 13-6. Buffalo was able to control the ball with a spread no huddle offense and their ability to convert 61% on 3rd downs.

The momentum turned when Buffalo up 6-3 was stopped on 4th down at their 1 just before half.

Then in the 3rd quarter USF was able to score the games only touchdown when QB Daniels ran an option keeper into the corner of the endzone.

Coach Rice had this to say about the game
"We could not get anything going offensively and we could not get them off the field on 3rd downs, They had a great gameplan of spreading us out and forcing us to stray away from our base Defense. If we are gonna be able to compete in conference play we gonna have to find some playmakers on both offense and defense."

    Players of the Game

    R. Akobundu 6tkls, 2TFL (Buffalo)
    T. McClain 6Tkls, 2TFL, 1 ATK (USF)

Week 2 Bulls upset Gators in the swamp

USF bulls upset the Florida Gators 33-26 in a OT nail biter in the swamp. The Gators opened up the first quarter with a beautiful drive ended by a 20 yrd TD pass from Brantley to Hines.

The next two quarters saw only field goals as the Gators were stopped trying 2 fake punts giving the Bulls great field position. The Bulls offense was thought to be crippled early when starting HB M. Plancher was injured early in the game and did not return. Backup HB D. Murry stepped in and delivered with 24 carries 109yrds of power running.

The game was ended when the USF Bulls scored then stopped the Gators short of a first down.

Coach Rice had this to say about the game "We knew we could not match their athleticism so we decided early to pound the ball inside. When Plancher got hurt i knew Murry could step in and perform but i did not expect him to pound them like he did. Our defense... we just wanted to keep everything in front of us because we knew they like to go deep and crush you with deep plays, im proud of our team, but we must move on and prepare for Michigan ST."

    Players of the Game

    E. Schwartz 4-4 FG, Long of 42 (USF)
    J. Brantley 13-31, 209 yrds, 3 TD

Coach Rice had this to say about the game "I knew it was going to be a tough road game and that we had to keep our head, not turn the ball over and defend. Our defense played well and we were able to make some big plays on offense that swung the momentum in our favor going into the half."

GG Maslor, my guys were breaking tackles in key moments, and that TD before the half was big. if not for that, game was pretty close.
