Thoughts: The Sun Devils are pretty solid all around with a lot of experience to go around. They will more than likely start 7 seniors on both sides of the ball, so the time is now to start winning. The offense will be led by Quarterback Brock Osweiler, who took over for former University of Michigan flop Stephen Threet. Threet was an interception machine and "retired" in February due to suffering multiple concussions throughout his college career. The run game should be solid with both Cameron Marshall and DeAntre Lewis getting carries. One would imagine that Marshall will get somewhere around 2/3 of the ball carrying duties.
On defense, the starters are pretty consistent across the board with the two standouts being MLB Vontaze Burfict and CB Omar Bolden. The two are expected to be the team leaders and will be in contention for Pac-12 all-conference team, if not the All-American team.

The Sun Devils played like two different teams in this one. The first half saw the Sun Devils offense as nearly unstoppable. Even their one drive that ended in a turnover on downs was impressive, until Cameron Marshall was stuffed on 4th and Goal from the 1 yard line to give the Aztecs the ball on their first drive. The second quarter turned into a scoring spree for ASU. DeAntre Lewis would score a 2 yard TD early in the second, followed by a 26 yard TD pass from Brock Osweiler to Mike Willie. The Sun Devils would squeeze out one more TD in the second quarter when HB Cameron Marshall scored on his second try from just a yard out.
The second half started out just as the first half ended for the Sun Devils. They would score on their first drive on a beautiful 58 yard TD pass from Brock Osweiler to T.J. Simpson. On SDSU's first drive of the second half, Osahon Irabor would pick off a Ryan Lindley pass and take it 52 yards for a Touchdown. That was his second of 2 INT"s on the day. This put the Sun Devils up 35-0 with 4:23 left in the 3rd quarter
Then both sides of the ball began to relax and San Diego State took full advantage. Lindley would throw a TD pass to Osmand Nicholas on their next 2 drives to make it 35-14. The Aztecs then recovered an onside kick and Lindley would throw 2 more TD passes in the fourth to make it 35-28 with 1:11 left to go. The Sun Devils recovered the onside kick attempts and had the ball with SDSU having 2 timeouts remaining. On Marshall's second run, he fumbled the ball and San Diego State recovered. However, the referee was informed the play needed to be reviewed and the call was reversed! Arizona State would run the clock out after that and escape with the win.
Lindley: 22-34, 404 yards, 4 TD's, 2 INT's
Osweiler: 14-20, 234 yards, 2 TD's

Marshall: 20 rushes, 84 yards
Nicholas: 4 rec. 123 yards, 2 TD's
Simpson: 5 rec. 115 yards, TD
Up next the Sun Devils have a bye before hosting the Missouri Tigers.
Arizona State- 38
Starting QB Brock Osweiler got hurt early in the second quarter and it looked for most of the game that this ball game would go to Missouri. Kelly stepped in and threw four picks, including one early in the fourth that the Tigers would return for a touchdown and seemed like it would ice the game....
But then the Sun Devils would step up. They scored 17 unanswered points that included a 15 yd touchdown pass, a 7 yard TD run and a 41 yard field goal as time expired to take the 3 point victory.
Although the defense gave up 28 points, they combined for a total of 10 QB sacks, including four in the 4th that would force 2 three and outs...
Franklin: 17-26, 192 yards, 2 TD's, 2 INT's
Kelly: 12-24, 162 yards, 1 TD, 4 INT's
Moore: 7 rushes, 24 yards,
Marshall: 24 rushes, 90 yards, 3 TD's
Jackson: 2 rec. 71 yards, TD
Robinson: 5 rec. 103 yards
Arizona State- 45
The Sun Devils rolled into Salt Lake City with a chip on their shoulder coming off their loss to Oregon State. You wouldn't have been able to tell during the first part of the game though, as they got off to a sluggish start, getting themselves down 14-3. But JJ Holliday would score a kick return touchdown to breathe life into ASU. Osweiler hooked up with Pflugrad on a 74 yard TD pass to head into halftime with a 17-14 lead. Utah would score on their first possession of the second half, but after that it was all Arizona State. The Sun Devils would score 28 unanswered points to leave Utah with a comfortable victory.
Wynn: 12-19, 170 yards, 2 TD's, 1 INT
Osweiler: 17-35, 289 yards, 3 TD's, 1 INT
