This one can simply be labeled Round 2…. The Longhorns and the Wildcats battled in Week 5, and the Longhorns came away with a closely contested 24-21 victory over Wildcats. The Longhorns are led by Heisman finalist HB Tre’ Newton, Newton leads the nation in touchdowns with 25 to go along with over 1300 yards on the ground. Longhorn QB Garrett Gilbert has led the team to a perfect record so far while throwing for 3000 yards.

Texas HB Tre’ Newton 243 carries 1338 yards 25 rushing tds
Kansas State MLB Jarrett Wright 61 tackles 12 TFL 2 Interceptions 3 sacks
    ADVANTAGE -- Texas

Texas QB Garrett Gilbert 162 for 278 passes for 3007 yards 15tds and 11ints
Kansas State QB Collin Klein 65 for 111 passes for 1164 yards with 12 tds and 6 ints
    ADVANTAGE -- Texas

Kansas State TE Darren Crowder 46 catches for 664 yards 15tds
Texas MLB Aaron Benson 64 tackles 3 interceptions, 2 sacks, 3 forced fumbles
    ADVANTAGE -- Texas

    1. Contain the Texas running game - Last time around Newton and Co. ran wild on the Wildcats late in the game as their defense wore down and began to miss tackles.
    2. Establish a balanced attack on offense – The Wildcats moved the ball through the air, in the first game against the Longhorns but couldn’t move the ball on the ground as well as they would like. If they can get the ground game going they could limit Newton and the Longhorn offense by keeping them on the sidelines.
    3. Limit the turnovers - The Wildcats offense has been prone to turning the ball over, against a team like Texas, turnovers could make this game ugly quickly.

    1. Establish Tre Newton early – The more touches Newton gets the better off the Longhorns will be. If Newton gets to 25+ carries or over 120 yards expect a celebration in Austin.
    2. Turn up the pressure – The Longhorns are talented on defense, if they come out attacking the Wildcat offense this game could get ugly quickly.
    3. Limit the mistakes - If the Longhorns limit their mistakes, its highly unlikely they lose this game, they are the more talented team across the board.

    Texas 27
    Kansas State 17
