2011 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Season Outlook

    2011 Starting Offense

    (Skilled players line-up)

    Starting Offensive Line:

    LT #75 N. Clayton-SR (96)

    LG #62 O. Uzzi-Jr (92)

    C #76 N. McCrea-Jr (92)

    RG #70 J. Gilbert-SR (94)

    RT #78 C. Yandell-SR (90)

QB Jaybo Shaw-A true duel threat Qb that has run Coach Johnson's triple option perfect all spring. Shaw has excellent speed, along with good throwing abilites. Georgia Tech will now be able to "air the ball out" if need be. Something they have really not been able to do in Coach Johnson's short tenure.

Wing Backs (B-Backs)-Embry Peeples & Marcus Wright are both seasoned veterans in this offense and both can really fly.

Full Back (A-Back)-Roddy Jones is also an experienced Wing back returning. He has a great combination of speed and power. With Jones at A-Back he should receive more carries than any other back in this offense. Durability is the main concern for him.

Wide Receiver-GT has two excellent wideouts lining up this year. Both Tyler Melton and Willie White can stretch the field when teams want to stack the box against Tech. Unlike previous years, Tech plans to expose the 8-man box and chunk it deep to make teams play honest.

    2011 Starting Defense

    Keys players on "D":

DT-T.J. Barnes is a beast of a man towering at 6'7" 337lbs. He has excellent strength and speed for his size. He will be key in stuffing both A-Gaps and disrupting the run game.

ROLB-Steven Sylvester will be asked to fill in for departed and NFL Draft Top 3 pick Mario Edwards who blew the doors off the NCAA record books last season with 46 Sacks. Steven has excellent size/speed and a whole year watching Edwards perfect his craft. Did Sylvester learn anything? Only the 2011 season will tell.

SS-Cooper Tylor is going into his senior year as a 4th year starter. Tylor has been the Quarterback of the secondary and will be expected to lead a young but very talented group in the back field.

    QB Jaybo Shaw

    A-Back Roddy Jones

    DT T.J. Barnes

Should be a very tough team to stop on the ground this year. I'll find out first hand.
