    Ducks humbled in Morgantown

After a frozen xbox, the game was restarted and the commish gave the OK. The Ducks invade Morgantown with a #15 ranking. WVU is out to get their first upset of the year.

Oregon punts on their first drive and then picks WVU off on a strange play. Oregon capitalizes off the bad pass and goes up 0-7. WVU then makes a drive of their own. 7-7. Oregon is forced to 3 on their following drive. 7-10. Smith throws a great pass TD to Starks to go up 14-10. Immediately after Oregons Qb gets sacked and coughs up the balls, which WVU's defense recovers for a TD 21-10. An exciting and penatly ridden first quarter finally ends.

Oregon finds the endzone after two penalties glide them into the redzone, but they miss the PAT. 21-16. Starks snatches another TD pass. 28-16. Oregon has a terrible drive that ends on a failed fake punt. Ducks pick them off but turn it over on another 4th down conversion attempt. Mountaineers find the endzone on the feet of Austin. They also showed Oregon how a fake punt is done, with a successful conversion. 35-16. Ducks make one last attempt before the half but get picked off. End of the half.

WVU takes the kick and makes another scoring drive on the Smith-Starks combo. 16-42. Oregon's drive went nowhere and WVU throws on the Chew Clock. WVU kicks a FG. 45-16. Ducks get stuck deep in their own territory and give it up on an INT. Ducks defense finally holds strong and forces a punt. End of third.

Into the 4th the Ducks are closing in on the endzone when Thomas throws his 3rd pick of the day. WVU puts in the backups. What should have been a stop on 3rd down turned into a WVU(thought I was tackled in the back field lol). 52-16 Final Score.

    Morgantown still Buzzing

The Hometown of the Mountaineers is still buzzing about last weeks manhandling of the Oregon Ducks. The Ducks who sat at the #15 spot found themselves out played in all aspects of the ball. West Virginia immediately caught the eyes of the Coaches as they sit as #22 this week. The Ducks cling to a #24 ranking, slipping 9 places.

Currently the Mountaineers are in a Bye Week, definetely earning an early rest. But it won't last for long as West Virginia heads out to sunny California next week to take on the Golden Bears. A tough game is predicted here, but after what we saw last week we can only hope for the same. Cheer your Mountaineers on as they hope to thrash another one of the Pac 10's finest.

If things continue like they did last week, it's going to be a great season. The road is full of tough obstacles such as Ohio St and some tough in conference opponents. The anticipation for this season to get in full swing is already bursting at the seams.

they are pretty good, i believe it was that safety who got two picks and a FF. he made Big East defensive POTW. If he is a sophomore redshirt then that's him I believe. And the linebackers are pretty good. they kept the HB in the backfield and the QB wouldn't pass to the outside cuz of them.

Cal unsportsmanlike and cheats to victory

West Virginia packs up their bags and travels the other coast to take on Cal in a big matchup. Pac 10 is out for revenge after what WVU did to Oregon last week.

Cal gets forced to 4th n 5 yet converts for 1st and goal. BS. Cals cheating selves score. 0-7. After WVU drives right down the field they fail to convert on 3rd down and like a normal team kicks the FG. 3-7. Mountaineers defense comes out strong and forces a 3 and out. Cal punts like they should. On a horrible pitch to attempt a TD WVU fumbles and Cal recovers with bad field position. 3-7 after the first.

Cal fumbles and loses it themselves giving WVU great field position and another chance to take the lead. On 4th and goal WVU fails to break the plane. WVU forces a punt the next drive. Austin runs the balls greatly but the QB throws a pick and Cal almost returns it. Cal settles for a FG and the WVU D stays strong. 3-10. Cals defense proves tough also. They tack on another Fg on their next drive. 3-13. WVU lays it up their and the WR catches it but they are about 6 yards shy of the TD and no seconds remaning. 3-13 into the half.

WVU goes 3 and out to open the half. Up by 10 again Cal cheats and goes for it on 4th and long. 3-20. After back to back 3 and outs WVU finally finds the endzone. 10-20. AGAIN on 4th down Cal throws and scores. Pissing me off big time. 10-27 after 3.

After a long day of rushing Austin finally feels the endzone. 17-27. WVU forces a nice three and out. An obvious pass interference does not get called on 3rd and 10 and the Mountaineers punt and Cal, big surprise continues to pass. 17-34 Final. I love how the CPU cheats you. I'm very pissed off after that loss. EA screws up and gives them no sportsmanship AI. Final play was a pass, not a run or a kneel.

Yeah, I just hate it when the CPU does some of the things that they do.

3 Things that Annoy me most about the CPU:
    1) Converting 3rd and 15+
    2) Consistently going for it on 4th down instead of taking the FG
    3) Doing anything that would cause a user to lose sportsmanship points

I agree with all of those.

But I am proud of my HB. He got 150 yds minimum. Only part of my offense who gave them hell.

    Morgantown is Upset City!

A huge week in Morgantown as the Mountaineers host the #2 ranked Buckeyes. It's a rainy, windy and nasty day as the players take the field. This one is hyped up to be a great game as WVU looks to rise back into the polls and OSU looks to remain unbeaten.

Mountaineers get the ball first and nearly take the opening kick to the house but the last man gets em. WVU has no problem finishing the good field position and score. 7-0. The Mountaineers come out fired up on defense and force an INT. Stadium is ROCKIN. WVU can't find the endzone but get 3 more. 10-0. OSU comes out strong but WVU DE Miller records 2 sacks in a row and force the Buckeyes out of FG range. WVU has a good drive but are forced to punt. OSU goes 3 and out also. 10-0 after the first quarter.

Buckeyes get on the board with a FG. 10-3. WVU finds the endzone again. 17-3. WVU intercepts OSU for a TD the very next drive. 24-3. OSU throws their third pick of the day immediately after the pick 6. WVU kicks a FG after the turnover. 27-3 to end the first half.

OSU starts out the drive immediately with another INT, that makes 4. WVU tacks on another 3. 30-3. WVU defense just won't let up and drop the Buckeye QB for the 5th time. But they finally taste the endzone. 30-10. Austin finds the endzone again. 37-10. OSU throws their FIFTH pick the very next play. 37-10 at the end of the 3rd.

Another FG for the Mountaineers. 40-10. OSU manages to put together another scoring drive. 40-17. WVU settles for 3 again...sorta feels like the kicker should be reaching a record. 43-17. The Buckeyes QB gets dropped twice in the final seconds of the game and never get back to the line. Final 43-17.

ESPN Radio was on the call: "Buckeyes looking to regroup after that sack...can they?...NO!! Mountaineers easily beat the #2 Ranked Buckeyes! What a game!! The stadium is shaking from the cheers. I can't believe it.."

Coach Masler was asked how he felt: "We lost to Cal pretty bad in Week 2. We wanted to show the college football world that we aren't pushovers. I think we proved that today, proud of my boys."

Rutgers starts off strong going up 21-0 at halftime. The Mountaineers seem to get a boost and make a slight comback. By the 4th quarter it was 21-31 in favor of Rutgers. They score another TD and go up by 3 scores. WVU scores as well but the clock is against them and they loss. Great game Beazus

No Sweat Broken as WVU downs SU

West Virginia heads into the Carrier Dome to face off against old rival Syracuse. Masler has some history with this team. He controlled them in an online dynasty in the '09 version of NCAA, even bringing them to the National Champ game. He stayed there for at least 7 seasons. Now he is coaching one of their most hated rivals. Let's see if the Orange want revenge.

Syracuse receives the kickoff and goes 4 and out. Escaping the defense WVU QB fumbles on a dive to get the 1st down. Very next play Syracuse throws a pick 6. 7-0. SU gets in the endzone on a toss. 7-7. After an extremely long drive (16 plays) WVU gets 3. 10-7. End of First.

Austin hauls in a pass for a TD. 17-7. Another punt for the Orange. Starks pulls one in. 24-7. Syracuse goes 3 and out...again..WVU does as well, ending their scoring streak. Half ends 24-7. WVU HB Austin gets knocked out for the game.

Heastie and Starks prove once again to be a dangerous WR pair as they carry WVU down the field almost effortlessly allowing QB Smith to scramble one in. 31-7. SU's offense gets shut down again. Chew Clock is in effect already. Backup HB runs one in. 38-7. SU finally stops the drought and scores a FG. 38-10. SU then picks off the option for a TD. 38-17. End of the Third.

Syracuse finds the endzone again. 38-24. Rest of the 4th quarter is simmed as there is 45 sec left with WVU ball. WVU just sits on it. Final score 38-24.

WVU easily defeats Syracuse and gains their first conference win.

Mountaineers take revenge on the Bulldogs

The Mississippi State Bulldogs come into Morgantown this week to take on #25 WVU. The game is very deja vu as it is raining. The last time these two teams met was in last years bowl game. It was also raining. Miss St beat WVU in double overtime. WVU is out for revenge this year.

An insane day for the WVU offense lead to several players having career days, including one record breaking. Miss St played well on offense also, their main receiver gaining more than 200 yards and a pair of TDs. Neither defense could stop the offenses yet there were multiple turnovers. The game was close until the 3rd quarter in which WVU went up by 3 scores and never lost the lead. Final Score WVU 63 - Miss St 49.

    Notable Stats:

    E. Smith 25/43, 447 yds, 5 TD

    T. Austin 24 Att, 111 yds, 1 TD (backup also had a TD), 3 Rec, 29 yds, 1 TD

    B. Starks 6 Rec, 154 yds, 1 TD

    C. Snook 4 Rec, 50 yds, 1 TD (Great perfomance by the FB, he got hurt though and will be out for 11 weeks)

    Defense had 2 INT's, 2 FF, 1 FR.

    WVU Keeps on rollin'

For the first time this season Morgantown has clear sunny skies, all season it's has been rainy. They host Louisville.

WVU makes a good opening drive and gets in the endzone first. 7-0. Lousville goes 3 and out. Mountaineers get a FG. 10-0. WVU forces a goal line stand and the Cards get 3. 10-3. Starks makes a great play and scores with no time remaining in the quarter. 17-3.

Cards score a TD after the ball goes through the CB, what a glitch. 17-10. Heasties drags the tackler in the endzone with him. 24-10. Cards complete a nice pass but the WVU defense strips it out, forces the fumble and recovers. Smith throws one to Bailey. 31-10. UL gets one in on the ground. 31-17. A pass interference penatly brings WVU to the 37 with no time on the clock but do not make a complete pass in bounds.

    Halftime

A chance to make it a 7 point game fails for the Cards, they are forced to punt after a costly sack. Smith gets injured and the backup Qb comes in and fires a TD to Stark. 38-17. After the report it appears Smith is out for the game on a strained bicep. WVU forces another FG with their backs against the wall. 38-20. Next Austin falls to a dislocated shoulder and is out for the game. WVU offense starts to struggle without two of their top players as they are forced to kick the FG. 41-20.

UL scores again. 41-27. WVU makes their first big mistake and throws a pick. In a drive that involves to BS 4th down conversions in which the CPU should have punted they score. 41-34. They are now making it look closer than it really was. Rodgers runs one in and takes this game out of reach. 48-34. UL tries but has no time to score another. 48-34.

"I'm glad our backup QB was able to step in for Smith and Rodgers took over for Austin decently. It was pretty unfortunate to lose them for the game though," said Masler.

Louisville entered this one the favorite to win and walk away with a L. Mountaineers extend their record to 4-2 (2-1). They rest with a Bye next week.

    Shut out!!

Coming off the Bye Week the Mountaineers host UConn. The sunny skies have left replaced with the normal rainy dreary weather. WVU looks to extend their winning streak.

UConn takes the ball first and this one is under way. Tough defense and a loud crowd prevents UConn from getting their FG. WVU ends up with 3. 3-0. Mountaineers force a punt. Austin runs one in. 10-0. Another punt for the Huskies. End of the first.

After one turnover and several punts the Huskies have a chance to kick a FG and miss by a hair. With 30 seconds left a rare screen is thrown Austin's way and he get paydirt. 17-0.

    Halftime

WVU gets the ball first and they march right down the field. Alston catches one. 24-0. UConn tries to go for it on 4th down but get sacked immediately. End of the third.

Austin runs in another and Coach waves the starters in and ushers in the backups. 31-0. Huskies get another 3 and out. Huskies force a 3 and out (on the backups..) and then get a clipping penalty on the following punt. So now they start at their own 2. No luck as they are forced to punt it back to the Mountaineers. WVU runs off the clock and seal the shut out. Final 31-0.

WVU Radio: "The Mountaineers have shut out Conneticut and they fans are LOVING it!!"

"Couldn't have asked for a better game.."said a choked up Coach Masler.

The Mountaineers increase to 6-2 (3-1) and are on a 4 game win streak. This win also makes them bowl eligible. Week 11 has them hosting bitter rival Pittsburgh.

    Morgantown is where it's at!!!

Precipitation is falling once again but this time it's snowing, and very windy, as WVU takes on the Pittsburgh Panthers.

Pitt takes the ball first and we are off. They make a good drive but get picked off. Mountaineers have to punt. Panthers take 3. 0-3. End of first.

Things start to go down hill as Pitt finds the endzone. 0-10. After several dropped passes WVU finally gets a break and score. 7-10. Pitt gets stuck on their 15 after a penatly on the kick. No luck as they get nowhere, they punt it back. Heastie catches one, TD WVU. 14-10. Pitt tries their hardest to get a TD but DE Miller records 2 sacks on the drive.

    Halftime

WVU gets the ball back at the half. Ausin puts his skills to use and scores. 21-10. After several punts WVU finally breaks the scoring drought with a FG. 24-10. End of third.

On 3rd and 1 Pitt looks to convert but throw their second pick of the day. A 3rd down conversion turns into 6 as Smith connects with TE Urban..was a wild catch too. 31-10. Pitt goes for it on 4th down only to get sacked. WVU stays on the ground and Austin finds his way in again. 38-10. Pitt finds the endzone to end their own scoring drought. 38-17 Final Score.

"We start off slow, but finished great," said a happy Coach.

WVU wins the Backyard Brawl and their record is now 7-2(4-1). They travel to fight the Bulls in Week 12.

    Mountaineers survive scare in Tampa

A road game this week as the Mountaineers head to Raymond-James Stadium to fight the Bulls of USF.

USF gets the ball first and drives in straight to 6. 0-7. WVU tries to get 3 but falls short, no score. WVU's defense finds their rythym and forces a punt, which is faked and immediately stuffed. WVU cannot get anything going on defense and the road crowd may be the reason.

USF gets another TD. 0-14. WVU finally finds the endzone after alot of bad luck. 7-14. Austin uses his legs to bring WVU into the endzone and tie the game right before half. 14-14.

    Halftime

Heastie (broke the Receiving Yards in a Season record for WVU) hauls in a TD and WVU have scored 21 unanswered to take the lead. 21-14. USF tacks on the FG. 21-17. They get another. 21-20.

The 4th quarter begins and WVU is only up by 1. USF is hit hard and fumbles (but recovers it) and a punt is forced. USF gets 3 more. 21-23. Bailey makes a huge clutch play, bringing in a long pass. 28-23. USF makes a threatening drive but is held short on 4th down. Mountaineers get another TD and make this lead breathable. 35-23 Final Score.

Coach Comments: "We escaped a close scare tonight. They had me sweating."

West Virginia becomes 8-2 (5-1) with that win. A big road game next week against the powerhouse Cinci next week.

Good win - I know I barely escaped the Rutgers-USF game with a win as well.

Bearcats knock out tough Mountaineer team.

Soon as the Mountaineers break the Top 10 they get knocked right back out.

    #10 WVU 28

    #8 Cinci 37

Mountaineers fought a good game today, leading by 11 at one point. But the turnover bug infected them for the remainder of the game, giving the Bearcats good field position way too many times. One interception I'm not even sure why I threw. There's always next year. WVU misses a BCS bowl and fall to 8-3(5-2). They travel to Kentucky to battle the Hilltoppers in Week 15 after a Bye week to recouperate from this loss. Ever analysis says that one will be an easy win.

Coach Comments: "We lost one today, shows we aren't invincible. Our defense just got a little cocky and our offense lost it's tempo. Coach Max has a nice group of kids there, good luck to them against North Carolina, they'll need it."

    Box Score

    Column 1 Column 2 Column 3 Column 4 Column 5 Column 6

Yeah, turnovers were the difference makers in this game. At one point I was pretty sure I was going to lose because of a pick-6 I threw, then the turnovers just started going my way.
