2011 Nebraska 'Huskers - wader49
Playbook - UCLA
Defense - 4-3
Nebraska Holds on 17-12 in hostile environment
Holding on to a lead against a explosive offense is really hard, but nebraska held tough and pulled out a big season opening win. Playing the ball control style against this Arkansas team, the huskers ran the ball 45 times for 198 yards and held the ball for over 17 minutes of this 30 minute game. After falling down 7-0, the defense held Ryan Mallett and the offense down, and allowed for the running game to do to work, shredding up the razorbacks at times. The never trailed again.
Collins Okafor was the man on the ground. Although not having the most unreal stat line, he didnt fumble and kept the offense on the field by getting a bunch of huge first downs and was the workhorse of the offense.
QB Green 5-13, 110 yards, 1 TD, 49 yards rushing
RB Okafor 26 car, 99 yards, 1 TD
WR Kinner 1 rec, 48 yards, TD

Oregon pulls out win in 4th quarter, defeat visiting Huskers 24-21
The game was played in the Oregon rain, both teams decided to play a grind em out style of play with a combined 75 rush attempts from both teams and only 21 pass attempts.
Oregon dominated play with 18 first downs to Nebraska's 6, however Nebraska dominated the return game with over 200 yards in the return game.
With Nebraska driving in the 4th quarter with 3 minutes left in the game they decided to go for it on 4th and inches in Oregon teritory, instead of kicking the game tying fieldgoal. The move ended up being the turning point of the game as Nebraska was stuffed in the backfield on a fullback dive. Oregon closed out the game with a big first down run on 3rd down.

Nebraska uses big 2nd quarter to topple Northwestern 35-17
The Husker rushing attack continues to be hard to stop, giving the wildcat D a lot of problems in this game. The Defense focused in on the running game, letting the air attack get a bit of yardage and then buckling in the red zone on a occasions. The big key was Nebraska held the ball for 22 minutes compared to 9 for Northwestern. Nebraska got a big pick 6 at the end of hte second half to really spring them to a win. despite a minor rally by the wildcats, the win was never in doubt in the second half.
Cody Green was really exceptional today, except for one INT, which was kind of excusable. He was running well and hitting the open targets at will against a tough BIG 10 defense. Hon Mention to the otehr Green on defense who had 2 INT's
QB Green 9-13, 137 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 9 car, 74 yards, 2 TD
RB Okafor 22 car, 103 yards, TD
WR Gilleylen 3 rec, 43 yards, TD
LB Holt 10 TKL, 1 sack
CB Green 4 TKL, 2 INT, 1 TD
record = 2 -1
Nebraska overcomes tough Iowa State to win 31-24 at home.
Cudos to Knightholes for playing a good tough ball game. The defense held tough most of the time. The occasional deep ball to his stud WR gave us trouble, but the huskers were able to limit the cyclones to 34 yard of rushing, and picked off their QB on route to the win. On offense, Nebraska pretty much ran the ball right at Iowa state, and for the most part they couldnt stop it. Tallying for 247 yards rushing on the day, the husker running game continues to carry this offense, although Cody Green did look good and made a lot of his throws to get first downs. 2 costly fumbles gave Iowa State some more life in the second half, but Nebraska overcame this.
QB Green 10-13, 170 yards, 1 TD, 24 yard rushing
RB Okafor 31 car, 168 yards, 1 TD
Fb Thompson 23 yards, 2 TD
WR Kinnie 6 rec, 115 yards
TE Hill, 8 yards, 1 TD
DT Crick 2 sacks, 4 TKL
DE Williams 1 sack, 1 INT, 3 TKL
CB Washington 2 INT
Nebraska dominated rival Mizzou 49-7 on the road
In a game that meant a lot to both teams, the cornhuskers were clearly the more motivated team and were very crisp on both sides of the ball. outgaining the tigers 436-215, they also won the turnover battle, forcing 2 picks from Blaine Gabbert and only having one fumble of their own. This game started out with the Huskers passing a lot more than what they had done all season. They still ended up running the ball 48 times for 236 yards, but they passed 23 times in the game, most of which was in the first half, helping to build a big halftime lead. The defense also had 6 sacks.
QB Green 16-23, 200 yards, 2 TD, 33 rush yards, 1 TD
RB Burkhead 53 yards, 2 TD, 32 yards rec
Rb Okafor 60 yards, 31 yards rec, 1 TD
WR Gilleylen 60 yards rec
DE Williams 3 sacks, 7 TKL
DT Moore 2 sacks, 5 TKL
