The Buckeyes running attack looked very strong in the 2011 season opener, with Boom Herron going for 2 TDs, and 4 backs splitting carries throughout the game. Taking a 28-0 lead into halftime, the Bucks decided it would be best to get the 2nd string some playing time and even got the 3rd stringers some time late in the 4th.

    3 Stars
Ohio State HB Dan Herron 11 Carries 82 Yards 2 TDs
Ohio State SS Zach Domicone 2 Tackles 1 Int 2 FF
Akron WR Jerrod Dillard 6 Catches 131 Yards

Not much to say about this game. Starters were out by the end of the first quarter, 3rd stringers in at half. Redshirt freshman Carlos Hyde has looked really good through the first 2 games, coming in as my 4th back. He is currently the teams leading rusher with just over 200 yards. The defense played lights out again, holding the opposing offense to approximately 68 yards of offense.

    3 Stars
Ohio State HB Carlos Hyde 16 Carries 122 Yards 2 TDs
Ohio State HB Jamaal Berry 11 Carries 71 Yards 1 TD
Ohio State HB Dan Herron 6 Carries 66 Yards 1 TD

Haha they are almost the hardest games for me to play sometimes. Its so hard to keep the score down against them. Its unfortunate that I saw the opening a couple of days after the offseason and missed out on custom scheduling, but at least it makes for an easy few wins I suppose. I have Toledo next, so hopefully I can keep my shutout streak going ;)

haha, you shouldn't have an issue with that unless the comp decides to screw you.

And I feel ya...you basically have to kneel the ball to keep from scoring on FCS

Makes me wish I would have waited a few more days before moving into 2011... i would have cleaned up your schedule for you...

Nice job on keeping the scores in check though

Not a big deal Rich, definitely not your fault. Toledo was actually giving me a run for my money in the first half. I was only up 7-0 before the game blew open in the 2nd half.

Yeah ended up being 48-0 I think? They moved the ball better than the other 2 teams, just had poorly timed turnovers.

The Buckeyes may have been looking ahead to their next week's game against Michigan State, and allowed Toledo to hang around for the first half. The Bucks really opened up in the 2nd half though, putting up 38 points en route to a 45-0 win.

Ohio State walked into their first test of the season and came away with a big win against a ranked Spartan team. Talib Wyatt looked good in his first real chance to prove himself, throwing for 2 TDs, and the Buckeyes defense was stellar again holding Michigan State to 7 points and forcing 3 turnovers. The Buckeyes have another big game next weekend, going to #5 Penn State.

    3 Stars
Ohio State QB Talib Wyatt 15/24 289 Yards 2 TDs
Ohio State HB Dan Herron 28 Carries 170 Yards 2 TDs
Ohio State WR Chris Fields 3 Catches 132 Yards 1 TD

Penn State looked to be the team to upset the top ranked Buckeyes, but faltered in the 2nd half, as the Buckeyes were able to come away with the 16-14 Win. After Talib Wyatt's solid performance last week against the Spartans, he really struggled this week, completing only 11 of 25 passes. The running game was once again the saving grace for the Buckeyes, as Jaamal Berry rushed for 121 yards, including a 71 yard run that setup a Doug Hill field goal. The Buckeyes struggled to score touchdowns in the red zone, settling for 2 field goals and not scoring a red zone td, which allowed the Nitany Lions to hang around. A late Penn State TD gave them hope, but they failed to recover the onside kick and the Buckeyes went into "victory formation" to close the game out.

    3 Stars
Ohio State HB Jaamal Berry 6 Carries 121 Yards
Penn State QB Brian Lawson 26/41 274 Yards 2 TDs
Ohio State HB Dan Herron 18 Carries 111 Yards

Dan Herron continued to lead the top ranked Buckeyes rushing attack as the Buckeyes defeated the Golden Gophers 37-10. Herron rushed for 131 yards, but did not score any touchdowns, as Talib Wyatt threw for 3, FB Zach Boren added one, and Doug Hill kicked 3 field goals. The Gophers failed to get anything going on the ground, averaging less than 1 yard per carry, and losing 2 fumbles, which allowed the Buckeyes to control the clock and the game.

Ohio State QB Talib Wyatt 7/17 113 Yards 3 TDs 1 Int
Ohio State HB Dan Herron 23 Rushes 131 Yards

The story of this game for the Buckeyes was the 3rd quarter, when they put up all 35 of their points in a 5 minute blitz of the Hoosiers. This run included 2 defensive touchdowns, 2 passing touchdowns by Talib Wyatt, and one by Joe Bausserman, finding 3 different players. The Hoosiers gave the Buckeyes a scare, going up 7-0 on a 22 yard rush by Darius Willis, and would take this lead into halftime. The 3rd quarter opened with a 13 yard TD reception by Jake Stoneburner and ended with a 7 yard fumble recover for a TD by backup linebacker Dorian Bell.

    3 Stars
Ohio State WR James Louis 3 Catches 65 Yards 1 TD
Ohio State HB Dan Herron 16 Carries 139 Yards
Indiana WR Duwyce Wilson 4 Catches 86 Yards

I wish I had Pryor, this guy I have now is incredibly inconsistent. I think his season passing % is under 50. Thank God for a solid run game lol.
