    2011 Oregon Ducks Preview

The Oregon Ducks come into 2011 off of a heartbreaking loss to Auburn in the 2010 National Championship game. The Ducks return a large amount of that roster including a large core of one of the most explosive offenses in college football history.

    Offense:

The offense brings back QB Darron Thomas and HB LaMichael James, one of the best backfield duos in college football. At WR the Ducks lose star Jeff Maehl, but will look to replace him with Lavasier Tuinei and the versatile Josh Huff. The Ducks also have two backups at HB who add depth and talent with Kenjon Barner and Lache Seastrunk.

    Defense:

The Defense will be led by Juniors FS John Boyett and CB Cliff Harris. The LB core will have to replace Casey Matthew, but the backups are highly experienced and someone should be able to step up out from the pack.

    Week 1 Commits

    :5stars: #3 WR Allen Triplett

Triplett is a solid addition to the Oregon spread attack, coming in with B+ speed and acceleration as well as solid hands(C+) and route running(C+). He also will be an option running the ball, as he is very adept at keeping the ball off the ground(A- carrying)

    :3stars:#5 C Luke Bailey

Bailey is a balanced center who will be a force in both the running and passing games, will be very good on plays where he pulls, clocking in with B+ acceleration.

    Style Breakdowns

Offense: Coach RyanC will not be overhauling the offense in any way, the spread option has been Oregon's bread and butter in recent years and will continue to do so. Coach will also be looking to get Josh Huff and Lache Seastrunk involved offensively to complement Barner and LMJ.

Defense: The Ducks will be running the 3-3-5 defense, with a dash of 4-2-5 and 4-4 to create multiple similar looks from different formation sets. Look for safety John Boyett to be allowed same room to roam and play center field.

3-3-5. The majority will run out of that formation, I just added a few others to spice up the playbook and offer different schemes out of the same core concept

i dont blame you there bc youll eventually want to have 4 defensive lineman during certain plays of the game.

yep, plus my defensive idol is Bud Foster and he runs a base 4-4 but over the course of the game he employs a massive variety of looks. I love watching VT's defense

Oregon inks another recruit for the 2012 season, :3stars:JUCO DE Jason Williams. Williams will provide immediate depth at the DE spot, and is an outstanding pass rusher, excelling in finesse moves(B+) and shedding blockers(A-)

Huge recruiting week for the Ducks in week 6

:4stars:SS Bill Beck, the number one SS prospect in the nation commits to Oregon, he will most likely replace Pleasant next year, huge pickup.

:4stars:TE Alex Blair, Blair is a monster frame at 6'8" 229, and is a big time receiving threat(B catch). He will fight for the starting job next year.

:3stars:OLB Alex Harrell, Harrell is great in coverage and will likely be moved to MLB to fill a gap.

Coach RyanC to take over offense

After ending the season with a disappointing loss to South Carolina, Coach RyanC has stripped former Head Coach no OC Chip Kelly of his playcalling duties effective next season.

"I respect Chip and he has had a ton of success with his spread offense, but I feel like the team needs a new direction," said RyanC, "We are keeping the details of the offense under wraps, but it will be different from anything you have seen on the field in Eugene."
