The game started fairly even. Luck was up and down the whole game, but the more I ran the ball the more the running game opened up. My plan was to throw for 400 and 3 tds, but that gameplan changed. The o-Line and rbs are string enough to allow me to play fairly balanced this year.

This game was more strategic than being centered around player performances. If it wasn't for the fumble returned for a TD in the first Q that gave Stanford a 13-0 lead, this would have been a much different game. Stanford was basically trying to run out the clock un the 2nd half, while using accurate strikes from QB Anrew Luck to keep drives alive. When Rutgers would pull close, the Stanford offense would open up and strike back. But, in the end, turnovers tell the story of this outcome. Stanford 0, Rutgers 3.

    Great game Rutgers.

Stanford trounces USC in huge early season Pac 10 game.

Turnovers are the story here as USC committed 5 to Stanford's 1. Shayne Skov, the Star OLB for Stanford was responsible for two of the fumbles with crushing hits to USC's running backs as he came off of the left side. Matt Barkley was unable to get anything going in this game, throwing for only 119 yards and an interception. For Stanford, Andrew Luck wasn't called on to shoulder the load today but tossed in two TDs for good measure. Injuries are starting to mount for Stanford as expectations rise. Starting RB Staphon Taylor went down in the second half and will be out for the season. Now, freshman third string RB Anthony Wilkerson will take on the responsibility on giving this offense balance.

Stanford withstands potent Washington St passing attack

QB Jeff Tuel of WSU gave Stanford everything they could handle by going 31 of 42 for 395 yards and 3 TDs. Washington State gave up quickly on the run game, but came out throwing on Stanford for four quarters. Stanford even managed to knock Tuel out of the game today with well timed blitzes, but he came back and nearly pulled out the win.

Stanford kept to the game plan of a balanced attack and taking what the defense would give them. QB Andrew Luck was effecient in going 14 of 19 for 232 yards and 2 TDs. Freshman RB Anthony Wilkerson punched in 3 TDs on the day and kept the WSU defense honest. Star OLB Shayne Skov again proves that he is the leader of this defense and will most likely be playing on Sundays in the near future. Skov punished WSU with 11 tackles and a crushing forced fumble.

Next week the 4-0 Cardinal will be taking on Washington.

Turnovers tell the story again as Stanford moves to 5-0 overall and sitting at #7 in the polls. Two turnovers by Washington turned into points for Stanford and proved to be the difference in this weeks game. After a major push for Heisman for Andrew Luck, he again posted modest stats as the Cardinal focused on a balanced, ball control offense. LB Shayne Skov again played huge today and and racked up 6 solo tackles. Next week, Stanford 5-0(3-0) take on Steven Threat and Arizona St. 3-3(0-3).

#3 Stanford looks sharp as a knife in a 31-3 dismantling of Arizona St.

Junion QB Anrdew Luck made ASU pay for their coverage miscues by throwing 17-23 for 213 yards and 4 TDs. Luck was able to connect with his favorite target, Chris Owosu 7 times for 3 TDs and 101 yards. On the ground, Freshman Rb Anthony Wilkerson pounded out 105 on 26 carries as #3 Stanford was never challeged en route to a 6-0 start on the season.

Stanford came into the game leading the nation is turnover margin and today was no different with the 2nd half fumble recovery. LB Shayne Skov added another 3 solo tackles to his nation leading tackle margin. Stanford 6-0(4-0) is playing crisp, smart football heading into next week's showdown with Oregon St. 3-2(1-2).

The game was actually tougher than I had expected. Oregon St stuck with the run and did it well. Andrew Luck played his best game of the year with only 4 incompletion the whole game. One of those 4 was an interception, but all in all. Another strong performance. Next two weeks will tell the story of the season, user games back to back.

Stanford Cardinal QB Andrew Luck hit WR Griff Whalen on 5 yard slant pattern with 2 seconds left on the clock to escape with a win and preserve the nations #1 ranking. However, this was Luck's toughest outing of the year. He was picked off 3 times including in the endzone in the 4th quarter as Stanford was just about to extend their lead. UCLA was well coached and clearly had prepared for Luck and the Stanford passing attack.

Next up for Stanford... huge game vs #3 Arizona. National Title Implications.

I just want to say great game to UCLA.

    # 1 Stanford loses heartbreaker at home vs #2 Arizona.

After falling behind 21-0 within 4 minutes of the kickoff at 31-7 with 3 minutes left in the 2nd quarter, Stanford rallied back to take a 42-41 lead with 45 seconds remaining in the game. The Stanford D was unable to hold up and gave a a huge pass up the right sideline to put Arizona within FG distance.

Andrew Luck threw 4 TDs, but also had 4 INTs and that was the difference in this huge matchup. Stanfrod falls to #5 in the country and Arizona moves into the drivers seat at #1.

Back to the basic against Notre Dame. Run the ball and play D. Didn't ask Luck to have a Heisman day. After the embarrassment of last week, we needed a game like this. At times, this was a complete one sided affair. A few points by Notre Dame made it interesting. Fumbling when the National Championship trophy was in our hands is still leaving a sour taste for the Cardinal.

    Wild, Wild Shootout

Stanford survives epic 4 OT shootout against Rival Cal to keep their BSC Bowl hopes alive. Cal just would not go away and Stanford never let up as a denied two point conversion in the fourth overtime secures the win for Stanford. This game had 1500(!) yards of total offense as Andrew Luck threw for 6 TDs. The game ball goes to WR Chris Owusu as he had 8 catches for 180 yards and a TD. Owusu's TD came in overtime on a slant pattern from Luck. Owusu caught the ball in traffic, got hammered by two defenders and came down with the ball. He suffered a broken fibula on the play and that ended his career with Stanford. This may also be the final regular season game by Andrew Luck. Only time will tell.

Andrew Luck played his most surgical game yet by throwing 14-18 for 314 yards and 3 TDs. Missou never threatened Stanford as the Cardinal walked out of the Alamo Bowl with a 35-17 victory. Newly annointed LB of the Year, Shayne Skov added 5 tackles and pressured the QB effectivley. Skov will most likely be missed, but the undertone of the day was the future of star QB, Andrew Luck.

In the 2nd quarter Luck became the All time leader in passing yards for the Stanford Cardinal. The question is, is he coming back for his senior year? Soph QB Josh Nunes has been training to take over this team and by most accounts, would do great as the starter next season. But, a talent like Luck only comes around once a generation. With unfinished national championship business still on the table. Only time will tell if he returns...

You CAN persuade him, so hopefully he wants to make history and give Stanford that crystal ball.
