    2011 Team Selection Thread

Alright I have done a draft randomizer, no one was favored/unfavored. Meaning I put everyone's name in a virtual hat, clicked the button about 5 or 6 times and this is the list I got:

    Pick 1: prewett53
    Pick 2: HovatheGodMC
    Pick 3: fuzzyl0gic
    Pick 4: kzooblue
    Pick 5: ocho
    Pick 6: JCSpartan
    Pick 7: chriscringle
    Pick 8: KoGCHEESEDIP
    Pick 9: bigrice
    Pick 10: priestmvp
    Pick 11: MSU 124

Remember we are doing 3-4 star teams from either Pac-10, Big 10, Big East or ACC. I would like at least 3 users per conference. We have a couple weeks yet til the game comes out but let's get our teams picked ASAP so I can begin other prepartations.

    Column 1 Column 2 Column 3
    Coach Team Conference
MaslerBoros16 Michigan State Spartans Big 10
    prewett53 Clemson Tigers ACC
HovatheGodMC Illinois Fighting Illini Big 10
fuzzyl0gic Rutgers Scarlet Knights Big East
    Kzooblue Northwestern Wildcats Big 10
    Ocho Washington Huskies Pac 10
    JCspartan Arizona Wildcats Pac 10
    Chriscringle Standford Cardinals Pac 10
KoG CHEESEDIP Conneticut Huskies Big East

No top 25 either correct masler? That would defeat the purpose of "Rising"

Out of curiosity, how did you go about finding the team calibers?

Yea I agree. I understand not adding the SEC, they don't have any 4 star teams, but the BIG XII is a perfect conference for our selection rules! Right now, there are only 3, 4 star teams to chose from. If we included the BIG XII, there would be 6, not to mention the addition of Kansas, KSU, and TT which are solid teams albeit 3 stars.

Having 6, 4 star teams would even out the field a lot, rather than just the 3. Also, this would allow for the guys with the last picks to get a better team, and I don't know about you guys, but I don't feel like the BIG XII is any stronger than the BIG 10, in fact, if you look at the team for team matchup, the conferenes look preety even, if not the BIG 10 looking stronger.

    BIG XII - OU - TEX - NEB - A&M - OSU - Mizzou - TECH - COL - KAN - KSTATE - ISU - BAY

    BIG 10 - OSU - PSU - WIS - IOWA - MICH - MSU - PUR - Illinois - Minn - Indiana - NW

I think these 4 star teams are way too good. 90 overall?

    Anyways,

    I select the Fighting Illini

We have to limit the number of allowed conferences in order to have user v user games within conferences. Adding another conference spreads everything out too much and people end up playing only 1 or 2 user games a season, and possibly no user games within their conference.

As far as allowing users with later picks to get better teams, this dynasty isn't really about picking the best team, it's about picking a team you have an interest in and building them up through recruiting.

Can we drop the big east then and add the big 12? There are 8 teams in the big 12 to pick from versus 5 in the big east. And also as diabolicole said, this would add three more 4 stars. I know personally I would have much more interest in building a big 12 team than a big east team. That is just a personal preference though.

I understand the need for several users in a conference and I definitely support limiting conference. I agree with the idea to drop the Big East and add the Big XII. I know its not about purely getting the best team, but I think that the users in the Big XII would have an better time keeping up with the Pac 10 and Big 10 than the Big East.

I think that the Big XII has much more appeal for several users than the Big East also. By this, I mean that the Big East runs a much higher chance to end up with only 1 or 2 users in it, and therefore defeating the attempt to keep a high number of user conference games.

As for recruiting, the Big XII teams to build up have much better recruiting with some of the lower tier teams such as TTU, OSU and COL having better recruiting than teams such as UCONN and Indiana. This would help keep the dynasty even for recruiting instead of letting the few good teams start to pull away bc of better recruiting.

I'm actually interested in playing with Connecticut if nobody chooses them before my pick. SO thats at least one for the Big East.

I don't disagree with any of those points, I wouldn't mind swapping the Big East for the Big XII, but I really don't care either way. It's up to Masler though so if you guys want to make that change let him know about it.

haha ok, well I'm ok with either way too. I just want the dynasty to be as even as possible when we start, so the competition is between our skill and strategy rather than our teams ratings before we got there.

I will take Rutgers. I jumped the gun, UNC has way too great of a defense to be "built up".
