In a game with the lowest expectations, UAB managed not to meet even those losing to fellow winless team Memphis to improve to 0-10. The new OC could only throw up his hands on two sure scoring drives were ended by costly fumbles. Another interception on the 5 yard line also cost UAB a touchdown. A total of 21 points lost to unnecessary turnovers. The only bright spot was QB Ellis's performance, despite a porous offensive line, throwing for 659 yards and 3 TDs, but with no running game support and no defense to hold back Memphis there was only so much he could do.

On a side note, one of the fumbles wasn't a fumble at all. The game did auto replay which apparently invalidates my ability to challenge the call on the field. Should have had that one back.

UAB remains winless after a close match with 8-2 Southern Miss, an opponent that should have handily won. UAB held the lead briefly in the second quarter 28-24, but a porous defense let them right back in on a 3rd and 10 90 yard TD pass. Southern Miss even extended their lead all the way to 45-28 by mid fourth quarter. That is when UAB started their almost successful rally with a one play TD pass to Nate Smith for 80 yards to make it 45-35. They then got the ball back and marched down the field to score again and make it 45-42, but that would be where the momentum would stop. UAB was given two opportunities to get within field goal range, but dropped passes and QB miscues spelled the end of their hopes for an upset. One play of note was a wide open Hearne streaking down the sideline, overthrown by Ellis by almost 20 yards, missing a vital opportunity for the go ahead score and win. Tough loss for UAB and OC Parker, who expects he will be looking for another job by years end.

VICTORY!!! UAB in a surprising upset of fledgling FAU, won their first and last game of the season. OC Parker was seen exiting the stadium with all five fans to go celebrate at hooters. In a side note, OC Parker's untimely arrest for drunk and disorderly conduct in the parking lot of Hooters may affect his employment with UAB next season. This however may open up job opportunities in the SEC.
