    2011: Week 1 "Tweet Board"

Welcome to the 2011 Season, and the "Night Owls 2011 Big Picture Tweet Board, presented by Twitter". This will be a place to easily see the overall Night Owls Rankings within the top 25, according to the National Rankings through the AP Poll. This is also the spot throughout the week, and all season long, to keep the league briefly updated on team news, as opposed to the weekly thread which is a place for weekly games, and the game summaries thread, which is used for full summaries.

In other words: Injury news affect your team for multiple weeks? Is your team is off to a great and unexpected start? You simply can't believe the BCS rankings? Did your Safety put "bulletin board material" up in the paper? Is your player off the charts? Did a huge win put your team into 1st place in the conference? What's your conference spot? Post it all briefly here. Light, fun, update friendly comments to keep the league up to date throughout the week.

Again, welcome to the 2011 season for the Night Owls. Now, let's go win a Title!

USC on notice in repeat attempt: #4 Texas Blows out #2 Alabama to start it out. Texas taking no prisoners after feeling slighted by BCS last year. In the preseason there were already statements by the UT players that they felt they are the best team in the nation, and were underrated, even at 4th.

Ohio State also blows out UNC to most likely move up at least a spot next week, pending USC outcome.

Michigan and Oregon also win to make the top ten very interesting after only a week.

Texas A&M is really excited about the strength of their O-line and running backs. Coaches are "Dedicated" to pounding the rock all year, according to head coach Roshaun Pesho-Davis.

Qb Tommy Dorman is attempting to fire up the team going into the season, reportedly calling a team meeting to show the team a combined highlight reel of the Big 12 Championship Game. "We need to be there! We're gonna be there!" Dorman was reported as saying. Question is: This year?

USC has heard the "shoulda, woulda" nonsense all summer after winning the BCS national championship. Coach Smith stated "It was obvious who the HOTTEST team in the country was last year, and therefore nothing else matters"

When reached for comment about texas's blowout win over Alabama, All-American Dillon Baxter stated, "Ok.... *shrugs* we blew those bums out last year... FOR THE TITLE"

USC opens the season against Georgia today, and with NEW FACES looking and READY to make an impact, it could Get ugly in ATHENS!!

Ball still having issues with holding onto the rock, losing a fumble in the win against Florida St. "Grant it, it was raining like hell in Tallehesse, and the MLB put on a huge hit, but this doesnt sit well with me at all" Coach Mexi commented. "If need be, there might be some changes in the depth chart at HB." Ball is still slated 1st for the game vs Arkansas.

Coach Recchem was pleased with the victory in Reno in week one but still is concerned about the running game and in particular Johnathan Franklins tendency to put the ball on the ground. "Franklin is going to have to continue to work all season on securing that football. We have other capable runners waiting in the wings and I think he knows that. He's still our guy in week 2 when we head to Texas A&M but I got him on a short leash!" Franklin had 10 carries for 25 yards and a fumble in the 44-14 win over Nevada.

OU was very happy with their decisive win over Pitt. Looks like the 3 losses at the end of last season didn't mean anything to the Sooners.

In early Heisman news, Wisconsin WR Nick Toon is at the head of the pack coming out of preseason. Can Nick live up to the hype or will teams double and triple cover the deep threat? Also, USC HB Dillon Baxter name has been mentioned in Heisman talk. Time will tell how the Sophomore follows up on his sensastional Freshman year.

(RS) Freshman QB Brandon wood, who has superior running and throwing abilities is stuck behind the more experienced and highly rated incumbent qb garret Gilbert, demands more playing time from his coach. Despite woods superior talent, scouts think experience makes Gilbert 13% better overall.

Arizona loses starting QB Matt Scott for at least 7 weeks. Down to a 71 ovrl QB now. Quite a dropoff from Nick Foles last year. Arizona wins 44-27. Defense held Tennessee to 6 points and got a safety in the final 3 quarters.
