FALCONS WIN AS TIME EXPIRES, 17-14 Matt Bryant's 20 YD FG puts Atlanta on top for good. Atlanta, GA - The Falcons knew they had a stiff test in week 2 as they were taking on a tough Eagles team that dismantled the Rams in their week 1 showing. The 2 NFC contenders would do battle under the bright lights of the Georgia Dome. Starting in place of the injured Michael Turner, Jacquizz Rodgers made the most of his first career start and scored early in the 1st quarter on a well blocked 28 yard rush. He would finish the day with 21 carries for 120 yards and a TD. Atlanta would jump to a 14-0 lead in the 2nd quarter after QB Matt Ryan hooked up with Roddy White for a 7 yard TD strike on a 3rd down pass play in the red-zone. The Eagles would answer back before the half, however, by scoring a late 2nd quarter screen pass TD. Ronnie Brown took the short screen from Vick and trucked Falcons safety William Moore on his way to the end zone. HALF TIME: FALCONS 14 - EAGLES 7 The 2nd half would would be even more tightly contested than the 1st. With the last play of the 3rd quarter, the Eagles tied the game at 14 a piece after QB Michael Vick connected on a 7 yard pass to TE Brent Celek. The Falcons would start the 4th quarter with a 3 and out drive that forced them to play the field position game. They would hold Philadelphia on their next offensive drive as well, and got the ball back with around 3 minutes to go on the clock. They found their stride offensively this drive powered by a nice rushing attack that got them into the Eagles territory with around a minute to go. With each play they inched closer and closer. Soon as the Eagles ran out of timeouts, Atlanta ran the clock down to :04 and lined up for a 20 yard FG to seal the deal. Matt Bryant, no stranger to pressure kicking situations, nailed the kick perfectly and the Falcons walked away with a hard fought victory over a very tough opponent.
