CALVIN THE CURSEDA missed call on a TD catch as well as a holding call that brought back a Lions score were 2 major blemishes on an otherwise outstanding day for Megatron. DETROIT, MI - The Falcons avoided a major upset for the 2nd consecutive week as they battled back in the 4th quarter to defeat a seemingly cursed Lions squad. A missed call early in the game by the referees and replay booth really hindered the Lions as they rejected a Calvin Johnson touchdown catch. It was clear that Johnson came down with the ball in complete control as he also planted both feet inside the end zone before tumbling out of bounds. The officials disagreed, and Detroit payed the price on the scoreboard. Also, late in the 2nd half, Matt Stafford hooked up with another Lions wide receiver on a scoring strike. However, the play would be called back as the referees threw a holding penalty on Johnson when he was in the process of blocking a Falcons safety. Once again, the Lions were kept off the scoreboard due to an official's decision. The Falcons pulled ahead early in the 4th after an 8 yard Michael Turner TD scamper. This put them up 12-7. The next drive for the Lions, QB Matt Stafford threw an interception in the redzone. Reserve Falcons CB Chris Owens jumped the route and took the ball all the way in the opposite direction for the pick 6. The Lions would never recover as they would fall at home to the now 7-0 Atlanta Falcons. Final Score: Atlanta 19 - Detroit 7 GG redwings8831.
