    Week 1

    Alabama - 56
    BYU - 14

Alabama blows out BYU After a Slow Start

Alabama won the toss and defered until the 2nd half. BYU responded by taking the opening drive 89 on 17 plays for the score. Alabama then tighted up on defense, allowing only 95 yards the rest of the game. BYU kept the Crimson Tide off the scoreboard until the 2nd quarter. They scored 21 to take a 21-7 lead at the half. The Crimson Tide then come out of halftime flat. They were finally able to score with :21 seconds remaining in the 3rd quarter. The offense began to click again in the 4th when Alabama scored 28.

A.J. McCarron led the way for the offense. He was 16 for 19 for 232 yards and 3 TDs. Unfortunately, he was sacked 4 times. He also ran for 31 yards on 10 carries and 1 TD. Trent Richardson was able to rush for 118 yards on 16 carries with 2 TDs. True freshman Joe Golden made it into the game late and was able to score his first touchdown. He ran for 30 yards on 5 carries. Another true freshman who made an impact was wide receiver Matt Miles. He caught 5 balls for 95 yards and returned 5 punts for 73 yards.

The defense was led by two defensive tackles. Senior Kerry Murphy had 8 tackles (3 TFL) and sophomore Brandon Ivory had 3 tackles (2 TFL) with 2 sacks. Junior Tana Patrick helped out with 6 tackles (2 TFL) and 1 sack.

Alabama will next host Florida State.

    Week 6

    Alabama - 17
    Georgia - 9

This was a very clean for both teams. There were no turnovers or sacks. The game came down to dropped passes on the goalline for Georgia. I believe he hit an open receiver three times in a row in the endzone only to have the receiver drop the ball. Everything else was pretty much even. Here are the team stats:

Alabama lost Trent Richardson for 1 week early in the 4th quarter with a strained shoulder.

The Crimson Tide will next host Ole Miss in another SEC battle.

    Week 7

    Alabama - 52
    Ole Miss - 31

I got off to a slow start again in this one. I was down 17-0 thanks to two early fumbles (one by McCarron on a scramble and the other by Lacy). Lacy did not see the field again after his mistake. I tried to use Freshmen Joe Golden but he went out injured after just two carries. I ended up going with the 4th RB on my depth chart, Nicholas Mitchell, and he filled in nicely. He ran the ball 18 times for 97 yards and 1 touchdown. McCarron ended with only a 52% completion rate but he did throw for 287 yards and 4 TDs. Three of the touchdowns went to Kendall Kelly. He ended the game with 3 catches for 99 yards and the 3 scores. TE Michael Williams led the receivers in catches with 8. I tried to lean pretty heavily on him in the passing game because I had a TE visiting this week.

The defense game up way too many yards and points. Ole Miss seemed to be able to move the ball at will. The defense was able to make up for there mistakes by scoring twice. The first defensive score came when DE Cedric McCoy intercepted a pass in the flat and rumbled 3 yards to the endzone. The second happened after Tana Patrick picked up a fumble from the Ole Miss running back and ran untouched 9 yards to paydirt.

Alabama looks to stay undefeated in the SEC next week when they face off against Tennessee in Knoxville.

    Week 8

    Alabama - 52
    Tennessee - 42

Alabama is lucky to leave Knoxville with a win. This defense is very suspect. Even after knocking out the Vols starting quarterback for the season they still gave up 473 total yards. David Oku seemed to be unstoppable. He rushed for 126 yards and 3 touchdowns. Wide receiver Matt Milton was open throughout the game by catching 10 passes for 138 yards and a touchdown. The Alabama defense will be running laps all week in practice.

The Crimson Tide offense was the bright spot on the day. A.J. McCarron threw for 251 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also rushed for 37 yards a 1 touchdowns. Trent Richardson continued to have a great season. He ran 20 times for 203 yards and 2 touchdowns. Seven different receivers caught passes today. Freshman Matt Miles led the way with 5 catches for 66 yards.

The Crimson Tide will host Mississippi State next week

    Alabama - 33
    Mississippi State - 19

Alabama's defense makes this game closer than it should have been. Mississippi State put up almost 350 total yards. Montrell Conner shredded the Bama defense for 121 rushing yards on the day. Tyler Russell threw for 203 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Crimson Tide did have a couple of bright spots in the game. Tana Patrick racked up 12 tackles (7 TFL), 3 sacks and a safety. Cedric McCoy helped out with 7 tackles (3 TFL) and 2 sacks.

The offense leaned on A.J. McCarron and Trent Richardson. McCarron went 19 for 28 with 271 yards and 2 TDs. Unfortunately, he was sacked once and lost two fumbles. Richardson carried the ball 29 times for 137 yards and 2 scores. He also caught 4 balls for 46 yards.

Alabama will travel Vandy next week for another SEC showdown.

    Alabama - 49
    Vandy - 0

The defense showed up in this game. Vanderbilt only managed 137 yards of total offense on the day. They had a couple of big plays but were not able to even make it into the redzone. The Alabama defense kept Vandy from converting a third down. They went 0 for 10.

The Crimson Tide offense was able to move the ball at will throughout the game. Trent Richardson only played the 1st half and ran for 110 yards on 10 carries with 1 touchdown. A.J. McCarron threw for 267 yards and 2 scores, but was also picked off twice. The offensive coordinator decided to try out the option game in the 2nd half. RS Freshman quarterback Jamie Ross was able to get into the game and he did not disappoint with his ablity to run. He ran the option to perfection, racking up 118 yards and 2 scores. His passing could use a little work. He was only able to connect on 4 passes in 10 tries. Look for him to get into a few more games down the stretch.

Cedric McCoy continues to impress at LE. He finished the day with 5 tackles (2 TFL); 2 of which were sacks. He now leads the team with 11. Demarcus Milliner also shined. He had 5 tackles and 1 interception. The interception was taken to the house for a score. True Freshman OLB Matt Miller recorded his first sack of his career.

Alabama will next travel to Death Valley to face the Bayou Bengals in a battle for the SEC West.

Alabama's defense gets eating alive but the Crimson Tide are still able to leave Baton Rogue with a victory. LSU was able to put up 513 total yards; 450 of those came through the air. My defense is just not that good. Fortunately with the victory, Alabama should be able to get a rematch with Georgia in the SEC championship game.

    Key Offensive Stats:
    A.J. McCarron 15-24 233 yards 2 TDs
Trent Richardson 19-114 yards 2 TDs
Matt Miles 6-92 yards 1 TD
    Damon McKenzie 6-111 1 TD
Cade Foster 3-3 FG 63 yard FG (not sure if that is a record but it is the longest FG I have ever kicked or attempted)

    Key Defensive Stats:
Tana Patrick 6 Tackles and 1 DEFL
Cedric McCoy 3 Tackles (1 TFL) and 1 Sack
Kerry Murphy 2 Tackles (1 TFL) and 1 Sack

The Crimson Tide will next host Auburn in the Iron Bowl for state bragging rights.

Alabama turned the ball over 8 times and still won the game. If this would have been a user v. user game there is no way the outcome would have been the same.

My defense was gashed again for 437 total yards. Clint Moseley completed only 3 passes but for 172 yards and 2 touchdowns before he was knocked out of the game with an injury. Auburn superback Michael Dyer was also knocked out of the game after just two carries. His injury is alot more serious than Moseley's. Dyer will be lost for 9 weeks. Alabama was able to record 6 sacks on the day. Cedric added 2 more to his team leading total of 14. Darrington Sentimore also had 2; while Tana Patrick and Kerry Murphy added 1 a piece.

On offense, A.J. McCarron was pulled after throwing 4 picks. He did have 192 yards and 2 TDs. Jamie Ross replaced him and did not fair much better. He completed 6 of his 15 passes for 68 yards and 2 TDs. He also had 2 interceptions. He was able to move the ball on the ground with 88 yards on 5 carries and 1 TD. Damon McKenzie led the receivers with 7 catches for 106 yards and 3 TDs.

Alabama will next host Oklahoma before facing Georgia in the SEC Championship game.

Alabama closes the regular season with a victory. Trent Richardson was the star of the game. He ran for 181 yards on 30 carries with 2 TDs. He should be getting close to the career rushing touchdown record. Damon McKenzie led the receivers with 6 catches for 61 yards and 2 TDs. Tana Patrick again led the defense with 9 tackles (1 TFL) and 1 sack. Cedric added to his team leading sack total with one on the last play of the game. Brandon Ivory, Nathan Givens and Darrington Sentimore also recorded a sack on the afternoon.

Alabama will now have 2 bye weeks before facing Georgia in the SEC Championship,

Turnovers killed Georgia again. The Bulldogs had two pretty good drives early only to be intercepted each time. The game still stayed close even with these mistakes. The score was 7-3 at the half. Georgia scored late on a play where I tried to user control the defender and whiffed. He made the two point conversion to tie the game. The Crimson Tide then drove down the field and got into field goal range. The Bulldogs tired to ice the kicker but it did not work. Cade Foster hit from 41 yards to put Alabama up for good.

Trent Richardson led the way on offense. He ran for 120 yards and 2 TDs; one of which was a 55 yarder. A.J. McCarron was an efficient 13 for 17 for 139 with 1 interception. His favorite target on the day was Damon McKenzie, who caught 5 balls for 60 yards. The defense registered 2 sacks. 2 interceptions, and 1 forced fumble.

The Crimson Tide will now wait and see where they end up in the BCS.

    Ohio State - 7

Ohio State scored on the opening drive of the game and then sputtered the rest. They turned the ball over 7 sevens times, 2 of which were in the red zone. The Buckeyes played pretty good defense. They held A.J. McCarron to 138 yards passing and no TDs. Trent Richardson finished his career with the Crimson Tide with 92 yards on the ground. The defense intercepted 3 passes and forced 6 fumbles; recovering 4 of those.
