2012 Auburn Tigers 2012 Auburn Tigers The 2011 season was full of ups and downs for the Tigers. Losses early @ Miami and to South Carolina put a lot of people in panic mode. However, Auburn finished the season on a positive note beating then #1 Georgia and playing the National Champions Alabama to a tough game. Those days are gone and Auburn goes into heavy rebuilding mode. The Tigers have to replace 13 starters, 6 on offense & 7 on defensive. Redshirt Freshman Brad Freeman will lead this offense. He has weapons all around him. RB Michael Dyer is an All-American and a difference maker when he touches the ball. If opposing defenses focus on him, WR's Emory Blake, Antonio Goodman, and Trovon Reed will make you pay. The OL is young and inexperienced. Sophomores Eric Mack and Chad Slade are the veterans. Transfer C Jack Mewhort will have to wait 1 more year before he makes an impact. Only 2 Senior starters on offense, so the future looks bright. The Defense will have the most holes to fill this year. 3 new starters in the secondary makes the Auburn faithful worried. Converted OLB Darren Bates switched to FS in the offseason to give some leadership. The linebacking corp is young and athletic. Sophomores Ladarius Owens and Jake Holland look to make a big impact for the D this year. Up front Freshman DE Greg Ross joins Nosa Eguae to make a formidable pair that can rush the QB. 0 Senior starters on defense and only 3 JR starters this year, so either feast or famine.
