    Season Preview

    2012 Clemson Tigers Season Preview

After taking an underachieving Minnesota to the Capital One Bowl, Coach Papa resigned before the bowl game in order to interview for some high profile openings. Among those was another underacheiving team in the Clemson Tigers. Coach Papa brings his tough pass rush, stuff the run, smack the offense in the mouth 3-4 defense to the ACC to try to take care of business.

The Tiger offense is a very athletic one at that. They are led by long time back up rs-SR QB Kyle Parker. Parker is one of those QB's who can beat you with his arm, his legs, or he can lower the shoulder and lay the hammer to ya. In the backfield committee it will be led by SR HB Roderick McDowell. McDowell is a fantastic athlete who has primarily spelled starters and is a return specialist. He has the moves to make defenders miss and the speed to separate from them. The receiving group is led by SR's Brandon Ford, Bryce McNeal, and SR TE Dwayne Allen. All 3 of these players should see plenty of catches. The offensive line is probably the only weak link in the entire team but every one knows that it all starts in the trenches and if you can't block, you can't run or pass either. There are 3 experienced lineman at C, RG, and RT, but there are true freshmen at LG and LT.

The defense for Clemson looks to be solid and we'll stay that way barring any injuries. The linebacker group is the strength of this team lead by captain SR Quandon Christian. A very strong and agile OLB thats very intelligent about the game. JR OLB Jermaine Yates plays opposite of Christian and is very fast and physical and likes to stuff the run or punish the QB when he pass rushes. The two guys in the middle, JR Kyle Page and SR Spencer Shuey, are really good and will help support the entire defense. The secondary has a lot of speed and shouldn't get burned deep too often. The defensive line has size strength and speed to keep blockers occupied while the linebackers take care of business.
