1. 3B Carlos Castello – Selected with the first pick in 2012 draft by the Baltimore Orioles. Carlos has labored in the Baltimore farm system for 4 years now. He spent the good portion of 2015 in AA where he hit .309 with 24 HR’s and 70 RBI’s in 92 games. He has recently been promoted to AAA where is only hitting .268 with 5 HR’s and 20 RBI’s through 31 games. Carlos has dropped to 2.5 star prospect. He is currently 25 years old. 2. SP Berde Lauritzen – Selected with 2nd pick of the 2012 draft by the Minnesota Twins. Lauritzen was the number one prospect in the league in 2013 and 2014. Berde made his major league debut last season, putting up good numbers for a rookie. He won 10 games and posted a 3.79 ERA. However he has struggled this season. With a record of 4-10 and an ERA almost a 6 in 23 games, Berde found himself shipped off to AAA at one point this season. Lauritzen is still a 5 star prospect and is just 24 years old. 3. CF Tommy Morris – Selected with the 3rd pick in the 2012 draft by the Seattle Mariners. Morris was the #9 prospect in the league in 2013 and quickly found himself playing in the majors. He made his debut in 2013 and hasn’t looked back. Through 3 seasons, Tommy has hit .276 and has an OBP of .355. Morris also has 107 steals and has been caught just 21 times in 3 seasons. Morris is a 5 star prospect and is 25 years old. 4. SP Armando Flores – Selected with the 4th pick in the 2012 draft by the Houston Astros. Armando was the 34th ranked prospect in the league in 2013 and made his debut in that same season. He struggled, going 1-5 with a 8.92 ERA. However since then, Flores has flourished. He posted a 15-8 record last year and currently has 15 wins this season for the first place ‘Stros. Flores is a 4 star prospect and is 25 years old. 5. SP Michael Nash – Selected with the 5th pick in the 2012 draft by the Chicago Cubs. Nash was ranked as the 5th best prospect in the league at the start of the 2015 season. Nash was drafted out of high school and has still not reached the majors. He was traded in 2013 to the Tampa Bay Rays and just made the jump from AA to AAA. Look for Nash to make his ML debut in the 2016 season. Michael is still a 5 star prospect and is just 21 years old. 6. MR Dan Thomas – Selected with the 6th pick in the 2012 draft by the San Diego Padres. In 2013 Thomas was ranked as the 68th best prospect in baseball. Dan made his debut that season and struggled. He has continued to struggle through 2015. His career numbers for reliever are not good: 5-8, 4 Saves, 5.81 ERA. Thomas is still rated as a 4.5 star prospect and is 24 years old. 7. SS Jesus Amador – Selected with the 7th pick in the 2012 draft by the Kansas City Royals. Jesus hasn’t yet cracked the top 100 prospect list and has labored in the KC farm system for 4 seasons now. Currently Amador is in A ball, hitting just .257 with 7 HR’s and 57 RBI’s. Jesus is rated as a 3.5 star prospect but is just 20 years old. 8. 1B Victor Bautista – Selected with the 8th pick in the 2012 draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates. Victor was ranked as the 81st best prospect in baseball in 2015. He paid his dues in the minors and won the starting job for the Bucs in 2015. Bautista has had a nice but not fantastic rookie campaign. He is currently hitting .257 with 18 HR’s and 75 RBI’s. Bautista is a 3.5 star prospect and is 25 years old. 9. 2B Devlyn Birch – Selected with the 9th pick in the 2012 draft by the Miami Marlins. Was the 23rd best prospect in 2013, fell to 68th in 2014 and now isn’t ranked in the top 100 in 2015. Devlyn has bounced all over the Miami farm system. Going from AA in 2013 to A ball in 2014, back to AA a few months later. In 2015, Birch has spent the entire year a A ball, hitting .281 with 7 HR’s and 48 RBI’s. Still some developing needed for this kid. Birch is a 4 star prospect and is 21 years old. 10. 2B Rob Ames – Selected with the 10th pick in the 2012 draft by the Colorado Rockies. Rob was ranked as the 8th best prospect in baseball in 2013 but hasn’t cracked the top 100 since. In 2015 he was released by the Rockies but was quickly claimed by the Nationals. Ames currently is in AA hitting .287 with 11 HR’s and 47 RBI’s. Ames is still a 5 star prospect and just 21 years old.
