11. CF Daniel Esquivel – Selected with the 11th pick in the 2012 draft by the Oakland Athletics. Was named the #3 prospect in baseball in 2013 and made his ML debut in that season, playing in 91 games for the A’s, hitting .255 with 16 HR’s and 46 RBI’s. Since then, Esquivel has put up good power numbers, hitting 33 HR’s and driving in 105 in 2014. This season, he’s back at it, hitting 27 HR’s and driving 96 runs through September 1st. Daniel is 4.5 star prospect and is 24 years old. 12. LF Andrew Vander Wal – Selected with the 12th pick in the 2012 draft by the New York Mets. Andrew was the named the 66th best prospect in 2013, fell to 77th in 2014 and now isn’t in the top 100. He has spent his career in the minors thus far, getting as high a AA in 2013 but only hit .153 there in 20 games. Vander Wal currently is still in the low minors, A ball and isn’t hitting. He is hitting .155 in 58 AB’s. Andrew is 3.5 star prospect and is 21 years old. 13. MR Lucas Giolito – Selected with the 13th pick in 2012 draft by the Chicago White Sox. In 2013 Lucas was ranked as the 71st best prospect in baseball. He hasn’t seen the top 100 since. This may be the bust of the draft so far. Giolito has spent his entire career in the minors, getting only a sniff a AA ball in 2014. His career numbers are bad: 21-32, 7 Saves, 5.68 ERA, 110 Games, 64 Starts. Its safe to call him a bust. Lucas is a 0.5 star prospect and is 21 years old. 14. SP Mark Appel – Selected with the 14th pick in the 2012 draft by the Cincinnati Reds. Mark was named the #4 prospect in 2013, the #6 prospect in 2014 and the #7 prospect starting the 2015 season. Appel made his ML debut in 2013 but was quickly demoted and spent all of 2014 in AA and AAA ball. He started the 2015 season in AAA but was quickly promoted. He posted a 8-5 record with a 3.60 ERA before a season ending elbow injury in July. Appel is a 5 star prospect and is 24 years old. 15. SP Ron Burns – Selected with the 15th pick in the 2012 draft by the Cleveland Indians. Ron was named the #41 prospect in baseball in 2013 but fell to #51 by the start of the 2014 season. He’s out of the top 100 in 2015. Burns has made the rounds in the minors and is currently in AAA but it doesn’t look like he belongs there. This season Ron is 9-11 with 5.04 ERA in AAA. This may be safe bust bet #2. Burns is a 0.5 star prospect and is 22 years old. 16. SP Marcos Mendoza – Selected with the 16th pick of the 2012 draft by the Washington Nationals. Marcos was the #60 prospect in baseball in 2013, missed the top 100 in 2014 but found his way back into it in 2015 as the 57th best prospect in the league. Mendoza had a cup of coffee with the Nats in 2013 but found himself starting the 2014 season in A ball. He moved on to AA ball and AAA ball all in the same season. He found himself on that exact path in the 2015 season but ma nagged some more time with the big club. Not great numbers with them: 4-1, 5.01 ERA so far. Mendoza is a 4 star prospect and is 24 years old. 17. 2B Drake "Call Me Paul Martin" Hollow – Selected with the 17th pick of the 2012 draft by the Detroit Tigers. Drake was the 20th ranked prospect in 2013. This guy was on the fast track to majors before suffering some injuries along the way. Still he's here and producing. Hollow made his debut in 2014 and has stayed since. His stats: 187 games, .262, 5 HR, 72 RBI, 17 SB. Drake is a 2.5 star prospect and is 25 years old. 18. OF Jose Rosa – Selected with the 18th pick of the 2012 draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks. Rosa never cracked the top 100 prospect rankings. Injuries seem to have plagued this guys development along the way. He spent 2012 and 2013 in the minors. In 2014 he made his ML debut but couldn’t hit for average. He was having an average season in 2015 before succumbing to injury. His career ML stats : .254, 13 HR’s, 44 RBI’s, 16 SB’s in 110 games. Jose is a 2.5 star prospect and is 25 years old. 19. 3B Tyler Nash – Selected with the 19th pick of the 2012 draft by the Anaheim (I refuse to call them LA) Angels. Another guy I can’t find in game. CEI? 20. LF Santiago Rosales – Selected with the 20th pick of the 2012 draft by the San Francisco Giants. Was the 12th ranked prospect in the league in 2013 but has taken some lumps to his contact and has not got out of the minors yet. Career minor league stats: 397 games, .246, 29 HR, 180 RBI. Santiago is a 2.5 star prospect and is 21 years old.
