FSU is a young team, starting 6 freshmen, 4 on offense. The youth showed early in the game as Florida State fell behind 7-0 early. They calmed down and FSU easily handled an overmatched Tulsa. HB Brendan Marks was awarded the starting job and he produced 147 yards of offense and 3 TD. EJ Manuel played the first half and his play was subpar, throwing 2 INT's. It could be that he is just not my guy, but I think he play poorly despite his stats. FR QB Scott Jones played the 2nd half of the blowout and completed 3/4 passes for 49 yards. It gave the FSU faithful a glimpse of what to expected next year. On defense preseason All-American DT Jacobbi McDaniel added a pair of sacks. FR DE Chris Bush had 6 tackles, 3 TFL, and 1 sack. FR DT Nick Randle had a fumble return for a TD.

For the 2nd year in a row we play Bama at Bama. It will be an early season matchup between top 5 teams. We need to make a better showing than we made last year.

What a great game between two top 5 teams. The defense played tough for both teams throughout the entire game. Alabama smother the FSU rushing attack holding us to -3 yards on 19 attempts. FSU also kept the Tide rushing attack at bay with 51 yards. It helped that Trent Richardson went down midway through the game and did not return.

Florida State was able to take a 13-6 lead into the 4th quarter. A pair of Bama turnover gave us the opportunity to score. Willie Haulstead hauled in a 39 yard TD pass. Alabama kicker Foster had a 53 and 54 yard FG. Midway through the 4th FSU had a chance to take a 10 point lead, but our 50 FG attempt came up just short. Alabama was not going down without a fight and put together a nice drive that end in a Lacey 3 yard TD run with 1:34 left. Both teams would have the opportunity to win in regulation, but both QB's would throw INTs.

In OT, FSU won the toss and elected to play defense first. Alabama gained 1 first down before settling for a 37 yard FG. Florida State gets the win when EJ Manuel hit Brennan Marks out of the backfield for a 5 yard game winning TD pass.

Both offenses started out slow and failed to score in the opening quarter. Early in the 2nd quarter, BC got a drive going. The drive ended when they went for a 4th and goal inside the 5 yard line. This seemed to change the momentum. FSU drove the ball on a 95 yard TD drive that ended with an Eric Carter 11 yard TD pass.

The FSU defense continued to keep the BC offense in check and our offense scored 28 straight points. BC finally scored 7 on a late 46 yard TD pass.

    Key Stats:
    EJ Manuel 15/24 230 yards 1TD 1INT
Brendan Marks 140 yards of offense, 2TD
    Eric Carter 4-68 1TD
    Chris Bush 2 Sacks

Florida State had a good first half, and survived a 2nd half rally by the Hawkeyes to improve to 4-0 on the young season. The Seminole defense forced two turnovers. This help us get out to a 14-0 lead on a pair of Brendan Marks TD runs(66,11). Iowa would put together a nice 2 minute drill and score before the half. FSU opend the 2nd half with a 4 minute drive that finished with another Marks TD run, this time from 1 yard out. Iowa would score the final 10 points of the game, but fall short as FSU was able to run out the clock.

EJ Manuel played an almost perfect game. He completed 14-15 passes, the only completion was when he was hit as he tried to throw the ball. Next week we have our 3rd user game of the year. We face ACC and instate rival Miami. The first two matchups with Masler and his Canes have been close. I expect another tight game.

    Great Game JCspartan.

    Key Stats:
QB EJ Manuel 14/15 177 yards
HB Brendan Marks 135 yard 3TD
TE Alex Wilson 4 receptions 69 yards

First of all, how the fuck did Alabama jump me in the poles? I know it is still early in the season, but I just do not understand this at all. Thats enough of my rant.

Wake Forest took an early 7-0 in the first quarter. EJ Manuel exploded in the 2nd quarter. He lead the FSU offense to 24 points in the quarter. He hit 3 long TD passes. Manuel played well enough to take a spot on the bench midway through the 3rd quarter. We were able to set the game on cruise control and put away Wake Forest fairly easily.

Next week we face ACC rival Virginia Tech

    Key Stats:
QB EJ Manuel 10-14 291 yards 4 TD
HB Brendan Marks 115 total yards 1 TD
    WR Rodney Smith 4-116 1TD
    WR Eric Carter 1-73 1TD
MLB Jeff Luc 9 tackles 1 sack
DE Chris Bush 4 tackles 3 TFL 2 Sacks

The Blue Devils took a beating worse than a stripper gets at a duke lacrosse party. FSU subbed out their starters midway through the 3rd quarter and let a few of they younger guys play. Next week we travel to Maryland to face another ACC opponent.

    Key Stats:

    QB Scott Jones 8/12 103 yards 2TD
HB Brendan Marks 90 total yards 2TD
    WR Willie Haulstead 2-86 2TD
    MLB Jeff Luc 9 tackles
    OLB Telvin Smith 8 tackles

Something has gotten into the FSU defense. For the 2nd game in a row we held the opposing offense to only 150 total yards. Senior CB Greg Reid opened the scoring when he stepped in front of the pitch on an option and returned it for a TD. Our offense was efficient. We were able to get to a 28 point lead midway through the 3rd when we decided to put in the 2nd string offense and defense. These units played well too. Freshman QB got a little more action and looks like he is ready for the starting job next year. He completed 70% of his passes. He did have 1INT when trying to force a pass into the endzone.

    Key Stats
    QB Scott Jones 10/14 170 yards 1TD 1INT
HB Brendan Marks 101 total yards 2TD
HB Chris Thompson 80 yards of offense
MLB Jeff Luc 4 tackles 3TFL
    FS Nick Moody 5 tackles

Florida State hosted Clemson with 5 of our top recruits visits the campus. FSU did not dissapoint as we shut out Clemson and walked away with an easy victory. For the 3rd straight game our defense held the opposing offense below 200 yards of total offense. The starters put us up big and that allowed the 2nd string offense and defense to get some playing time midway through the 3rd quarter. This ends our regular season ACC schedule. We will face probably either Virginia or hated Miami in the ACC championship game. We have our first bye of the season before ending the regular season with a trip to Florida. We owe Florida after they narrowly beat us on our home turf last season.

    Key Stats:
    QB EJ Manuel 11/16 213 yards 3TD 0INT
HB Brendan Marks 175 total yards 2TD
TE Alex Wilson 3 receptions 46 yards 1TD
    CB LeMarcus Joyner 2 Tackles 2DEFL 1FR
    CB Mike Harris 5tackles 1DEFL 1FF
