Indiana picked up their first commit of the 2013 class today when defensive tackle Terrance Snyder picked the Hoosiers over Southern Miss and Troy. While not a great pickup, Snyder will help add some depth to a position where Indiana will be depleted next season with the top 3 DTs graduating this year.

That's how we do things here in Indiana. Now prove yourself, Terrance!

Indiana picked up another defensive tackle commitment today. This one comes from JC transfer Jeff Adkins, who decided on Indiana over Navy, Illinois, and Northwestern. Adkins grew up just over an hour away from Bloomington and has always wanted to play for the Hoosiers. He'll enroll as a Junior for the 2013 season and either start right away or add some much needed depth to the position behind Leneil Himes and Adarius Rayner.

Indiana received their third commitment of the 2013 class. Two-star WR Jonathan Terrell from Trotwood, OH seems better than initially projected and was also interested in Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, and Purdue but only received a scholarship offer from Indiana. While wide receiver is not a position of immediate need for the Hoosiers, Terrell will be able to contribute to the passing game within a few years.

In other recruiting news for Indiana, four-star athlete Troy Smith committed to Florida State. Smith is a very fast player who can also throw the ball and seemed to be a perfect fit for Indiana's new offense. It's safe to say that he was Indiana's #1 target this season. They knew it was a long shot to beat out the Seminoles, but after a positive visit in week 4 Indiana spent a week as his #1 school. But after his official visit to FSU, it was obvious that Florida State is a better school for him and he committed a week later.

Troy Smith appears to be a future stud.

It's a big week for Indiana recruiting as they received commitments from 5 more three-star players. That brings the total scholarships given to 8 and finishes up a pretty small 2013 recruiting class. 6 of the players come from Indiana and Ohio (3 from each state), with the other 2 coming from Florida and Michigan. In all, Indiana filled all of their position needs, so it should be considered a successful season of recruiting. More details on the new players are below, and the complete information/stats on each is in the first post above.

Linebackers Kenard Doty and Donald Jones will add depth to an already solid group. This depth could be pretty important next year, though, as Indiana may be switching to a 3-4 defense since their top three defensive tackles are all graduating this year.

Running back Joe Parrish comes in at 6'3" and will be the tallest running back by 3 inches. His top-end speed is on par with the rest of the backfield and his agility and height could make him a pretty good receiving target out of the backfield. He won't see any starting time immediately but he'll likely see some carries or catches pretty early.

Free safety Sean Jackson will fit right in with a young group of safeties, all ready to compete for a starting spot.

Center Melvin Henry comes in to fill a big need at the backup center spot. Henry will likely spend the next couple years as the #2 center as freshman David Kaminski should take over the starting role next year.
