May 1-10, 201211-20 Last in the NL West (9.5 GB) Christ, what a way to start the month. With Coach Rec Chem away the entire month of April, the Dodgers did alright without him, going 10-13 out of the gates. Not great but not terrible by any stretch of the imagination. So Coach Chem comes in, fires off his first inspiration speech, and the Boys in Blue respond by going 1-7 . To make matters worse, new owner Earvin Magic Johnson is not opening up his wallet his first year as owner of the ballclub. That means guys like James Loney and Andre Either could very likely be traded before the deadline. Dodger pitching, aside from Kershaw, has been terrible by any standards. Here is how the staff has performed to date:
Runs Allowed - 154 (15th in the NL)
Starters ERA - 4.21 (12th in the NL)
Bullpen ERA - 5.21 (16th in the NL)
A few changes before the next block of games have been made by Coach Chem. 1st Kenley Jansen has taken over the Closer role from an ineffective Javy Guera. Also, relief pitchers Matt Guerrier and Mike McDougal have been designated for assignment as Josh Lindblom and Shawn Tolleson get the call up from Albuquerque.

May 11-20, 201217-24 Last in the NL West (9.5 GB) Well, 6-4 this sim...better than 1-7. After losing 2 in a row to Colorado the Dodgers reeled off 6 wins in the final 8 games of the sim. A glimmer of hope for Coach Chem as the Dodgers are hitting the ball. They rank 4th in the NL in batting but only 9th in runs scored. If the Dodgers can get their shit together on the mound, they could make up some ground fast. Thats all got for this stretch.
May 21 - 23 : at Arizona (22-20)
May 25-27 : vs Houston (13-28)
May 28-31 : vs Milwaukee (23-18)
Player of the Sim - SP Chad Billingsley. Picked up his first win of the season after a miserable 0-4 start. Chad got his first win at San Diego going 7 innings allowing just 2 hits and striking out 3. I know, its the only the Padres, but if the Dodgers have any chance of getting back in the race this season Billingsley is going to need to pick it up!
