2012 Missippi State Bulldogs Season Preview & Recruitng Outlook Offense The 2012 Bulldogs will be led by untested senior QB Tyler Russell (6'4" 217) and senior HB Montrell Conner (6'2" 218). This new look on offense enters the season with more questions than answer. The O-line has been together for a year now but they are undersized and not quite up the par with the rest of the talent in the SEC this year. Ball-control and gameplanning will need to be the focus this year if they Bulldogs hope to end up with a winning record. The one bright spot for wMSU this year is the WR core. They are led by #1 SR Chad Bumphis and #81 SR Marcus Green. Bumphis and Green both have good speed and acceleration but average catching ability. #18 JR Michael Carr however, looks to be a star in the makeing, with track speed and good hands, he will be a difference maker this year in Starkville. Micheal Carr highlight vs. #1 Alabama Defense The "D" for the Bulldogs this year should be average at best. They will be able to keep games winnable for the offense but the Bulldogs look to be in alot of shootouts this season. The strenght of the MSU defense this year will be down in the trenches where they are solid with SR DT #97 Josh Boyd and SR DT #95 James Carmon. Both players have great size and agility for DT's. Special Teams Special teams will be a struggle all year. A sophmore kicker and punter look to imrpove over a difficult 2011 campaign and regain the teams trust. Hopefully, the team will not be relying on the kicking game too much because it still has a long way to go to become dependable.
