Offensively, the Tarhheels return some key players. QB Bryn Renner returns to see if he can build off a solid Sophomore campign and etch his name into the UNC record books. He will get a majority of the snaps, but AJ Blue will get some time in relief and game specific situations. Giovanni Bernard wil be the feature back in an offense dominated by one back sets. Erik Highsmith and Jhearnie Boyd return for their senior seasonsat WR, while Junior Joshua Adams will play the slot role. CB Chris Rogers my also make some appearances in the slot to utilize his playmaking capabilties. Juco transfer Walter Fenner will get the start at TE.

Look for Coach Runthepound to spread the ball around to his talented WRs, while trying to establish a running game off the pass. Giovanni Bernard will be utilized in a lot of one back sets and possibly reach the 100 yard mark. Bernanrd will also be looked on out of the backfield to get some yards through the air.

The defense only returns a few starters from last season. DE Donte Paige Moss returns for his Jr. season. Sophomore Brandon Willis will anchor the other side of the line. Jared MaAdoo and John Brown will start at DT. Sr. Kevin Reddick will be the captain of the defense and will most likely be a first round pick in the draft following this season. Mywan Jackson is the only returning CB on the team, but true Fr. Chris Rogers shows alot of promise and will start from day one on the strong corner side. True Fr. Jacob Cary is the best option for the Heels at the FS position. Juco transfer Adam McBride will get the start at strong safety.

Look for the Heels defense to play more of a zone contain coverage defense this season. Jacob Cary will be getting his feet wet as well as Adam McBride. The secondary is young, so the zone will look to keep the D from getting hosed.

Both Kicking positions will be filled with rookies.

Recruiting efforts will be crucial for the Tar Heels and the future of the program.
