    2012 Heisman Memorial Trophy Race

HB David Oku - Tennessee: 19 car., 134 yds; 1 kick return, 91 yds, 1 KR TD
    (Last Game:19 car.,134 yds; 1 KR, 91 yds, 1 KR TD) (W 31-13 vs UCLA)

    Next Game: vs Louisville

Oku is coming off a monster 2011 campaign rushing for over 1,786 and 21 TDs. He came into this season as the early favorite and in his first game he lived up to all the hype this early in the season. The latter part of the schedule will be Oku's first real test, but he proved last season that he can run against the rest of the SEC so no reason to think this year will be different. He's goes up against a poor Louisville rush defense so expect big numbers as well in this game. With that performance look for him to stay atop of the race.

WR AJ Pickers- Arizona St.:1 rec, 62 yds, TD
    (Last Game: 1 rec, 62 yds, TD) (L 10-41 @ Texas)

Next Game: @ #13 Oregon State

Pickens didn't really do anything special his first game. He was held to just one reception the entire game, although that catch did net him a TD. The reception was on a busted play though, so essentially he wasn't able to do anything against Texas. His opportunities don't get any better as he goes up against a tough Oregon State team in Oregon. He will need a big performance and lead his team to victory if he wants to stay in the dicussion for the Heisman. I expect him to fall out of the race after this week.

    QB Tate Forcier - Michigan:
    (Last Game: Bye)

Next Game: @ #12 Notre Dame

Forcier has a big opening week game traveling to South Bend to take on the Irish. The Irish are looking tough this year and will prove to be a make or break game for Forcier's chances at the Heisman. He must have a solid game for him to stay in the race. I expect him to get his team the victory and put up significant enough numbers to stay in the race.

HB Jonathan Miller - Oklahoma: 26 car.,120 yds, TD; 3 rec, 43 yds
    (Last Game: 26 car.,120 yds, TD; 3 rec, 43 yds) (W 62-0 vs EMU)

Next Game: @ #15 Boise State

Miller and his Sooners put an absolute schlacking on EMU in the opener. Miller put in a great day in that game and proved he belongs in the race. Though EMU was far inferior to the Sooners, Miller needed to make a statement the first game to stay in the race. He goes up against another soft defense in Boise State, a team who went to the National Title game a year ago. Expect Miller to put together another solid outing and stay in the hunt for the Heisman

WR Doug Castillo - LSU: 7 rec, 105 yds, 3 TDs; 3 KR, 147 yds, 1 KR TD
    (Last Game: 7 rec, 105 yds, 3 TDs; 3 KR, 147 yds, TD) (W 35-31 @ ND)

    Next Game: vs West Virginia

Trying to follow in the footsteps of Heisman winner Terrance Toliver, Castillo is another Heisman favorite WR to come from LSU. Castillo had big shoes to fill this year and he did not disappoint his first game. He had a huge outing against the #12 Fighting Irish chipping in 4 TD's total. It will be tough, but if you can match this production when needed he will add to the list of storied receivers to come out of LSU. It will remain to be seen when the Tigers get into the thick of their SEC schedule, but he looks to be every bit of the hype he is receiving. Castillo faces the Mountaineers of WV in Baton Rouge. Expect him to have another big day in front of his home crowd and stay in the Heisman race.

    2012 Heisman Memorial Trophy Race

    Through Week 6

    QB Kyle Parker - Clemson: 126-180, 1410 yds, 14 TDs, 1 int; 111 car., 379 yds, 4 TDs
    (Last Game: 27-39, 263 yds, 4 TDs; 17 car., 58 yds) (W 31-10 at Wake)

    Next Game: vs FCS Southwest

Parker is having a stellar year, halfway through the season. His TD to INT ratio is through the roof and his team is playing well currently ranked #12 in the country. Parker put together a solid effort against Wake Forest giving his team a 31-10 victory. Look for Parker to have another great game as the Tigers host doormat FCS SW next week. He will stay atop of the Heisman race after this week's performance.

    WR Eugene Alexander - Alabama:15 recs., 330 yds, 3 TDs; 8 KRs, 497 yds, 4 TDs
    (Last Game: 2 recs., 88 yds, 1 TD; 3 KR, 292 yds, 3 TDs) (W 52-17 at Ark)

    Next Game: vs #6 Georgia

The Freshman sensation is lighting the stat sheet up this season. Not only does he do it on the receiving end, he's also the nation's top kick returner. In the Arkansas blowout, he contributed for 4 TD's. Three of them on kick returns alone. Alexander has a tough match up hosting #6 Georgia, which will show if the freshman is here to stay in the race. The Crimson Tide will start their tough SEC schedule so he will have to continue to put up numbers for his team. With Alexander being able to contribute on offense and special teams, look for him to stay in the race.

    OLB Sean Fisher - Nebraska:39 tackles, 20 TFL, 12 sacks, 1 int, 1 ff
    (Last Game: 11 tackles, 8 TFL, 5 sacks, 1 ff ) (W 45-10 vs KU)

    Next Game: at Texas Tech

Fisher is on a defensive tear right now at the halfway point of the season. He put together a monster game in the victory against Kansas last week, totaling for 5 sacks. Fisher will need to continue this effort to stay in the race but it definitely will be tough. He will have plenty of opportunities to do so next week in the game against Texas Tech due to their pass heavy offense.

WR Jeron Stokes - Michigan: 33 recs, 464 yds, 8 TDs
(Last Game: 13 recs, 147 yds) (W 35-10 vs IU)

    Next Game: at Iowa

Stokes had a very solid performance in his team's victory last week against Indiana, despite not finding the endzone. He was able to haul in 13 passes and put up over 125 yards receiving. His numbers on the season up to this point are very noteworthy and if he can continue his effort he will stay in the race and find his self as one of the top receivers taken in the draft, should he decide to skip his senior season. A early test will be his next game at conference foe Iowa. The Hawkeyes have always gave Michigan problems in the past. Stokes will need to step up this game but expect him to stay in the race.

HB Carlton Thomas - Georgia: 72 car., 445 yds, 7 TDs; 1 Rec TD, 1 PR TD
(Last Game: 7 car., 70 yds, 1 TD; 1 Rec TD) (W 38-10 vs Wyoming)

    Next Game: at #4 Alabama

Thomas has his hands full traveling to play #4 Alabama in this tough SEC matchup. He managed to put up a solid effort in last week's game against the inferior Cowboys of Wyoming, but next week's test will not be so easy. Thomas has already faced tough competition early in the season, in his team's victory against Texas. He will need the same kind of performance against Bama'. If he can put together a solid game and his team gets the win, look for him to stay on the edge of the race.

Notable Players (Guys who are on the brink): HB Jonathan Miller - OU, WR Dan Buckner - Texas, QB Landry Jones - OU, QB Star Jackson - Bama

    2012 Heisman Memorial Trophy Race

    Through Week 12

WR Dan Buckner - Texas:52 recs, 1499 yds, 20 TDs
    (Last Game: 4 recs, 198 yds, 3 TDs ) (W 66-14 vs KU)

    Next Game: vs Texas A&M

Buckner has been playing lights out in the latter part of the season when he should. His next match up with the Aggies will be a tough test and if he can perform well in that game and the Big XII title game, he may be able to bring the Heisman back to Texas. If not look for Parker to step into the top spot with a big game.

    QB Kyle Parker - Clemson:242-357, 2917 yds, 28 TDs, 7 INTs; 222 atts, 824 yds, 7 TDs
    (Last Game: 19-32, 237 yds, 2 TDs; 12 car;, 15 yds) (W 23-12 at FSU)

    Next Game: BYE

Parker continues to play well and lead his team to victories. They are currently ranked #2 in the country and look to be headed to the national championship if they win their last few games. If Parker can lead his team through these last 2 games, look for him to overtake Buckner and win the Heisman. His next test will come against South Carolina after the BYE week, then whoever reaches the ACC title game.

WR Jeron Stokes - Michigan:83 recs, 1169 yds, 17 TDs
    (Last Game:10 recs, 175 yds) (W 48-7 at MSU)

    Next Game: vs Ohio State

Stokes is lighting it up for the Wolverines this year. He is on pace to top the 100 reception mark and lead his team to a possible BCS bowl game. Stokes has been a tear, but he has a huge test coming up against hated rival Ohio State. He will have to produce a big game again to stay in the race or be passed by Alabama's Alexander. I think Stokes will stay in the race with a big game.

    WR Eugene Alexander - Alabama:43 recs, 1021 yds, 10 TDs; 20 KRs, 855 yds, 4 KRTDs
    (Last Game:2 recs, 9 yds ) (W 34-28 at LSU)

    Next Game: at Navy

Alexander is coming off of a tough game against SEC foe LSU. The Tigers were able to completely take him out of the game both receiving and special teams. The game didn't appear to hurt him too much as he is still in the race and faces a inferior Navy team this week. Look for him to bounce back with a monsterous game and hold his spot in the race. If 1 or 2 of the finalists has a bad game, he will move up but expect him to stay put for now.

    WR Kenny Bartlet - North Texas:118 recs, 1380 yds, 15 TDs; 19 KRs, 569 yds, 1 TD
    (Last Game:8 recs, 115 yds) (W 38-10 vs FIU)

Next Game: at Mid Ten State

Bartlet has busted on the scene from nowhere for the Green Machine. The receiver has 118 receptions on the year and is on pace for eclipse 135. I don't think he has a chance to move up too much in the race but the recognition alone will help the senior's NFL hopes and get looks for North Texas for future prospects. Look for Bartlet to have a solid game against Mid Ten State.

Notable Players (Guys who are on the brink):QB Garrett Gilbert - Texas, HB Jarell Childs - KSU, QB Riley Dodge - North Texas, QB Star Jackson - Bama

    2012 Heisman Trophy Presentation

Ladies and Gentleman, it has been a long season. There have many plenty of upsets, along with a few surprises at the top the collegiate ranks. Countless teams have counted on several individuals for their team's success. Some have succeeded, some have faltered. Those who can maintain that success are the ones that you see at the end of the season in here today. Their success does not go unnoticed, typically their team has also been successful. These same individuals generally go on to be successful men in the world, whether it be a top pick in the NFL or a career oriented individual.

The Heisman Trophy award goes to the most successful and top collegiate player in the NCAA. This person has endured a long season and put up quality stats game in and game out. This person has lead his respective team as far as he could and did it all while maintaining the integrity of the NCAA. In some form or fashion this player has seperated from the pack and has clearly made his claim as the best player in college football. Without further ado, the 2012 Heisman Trophy Award goes to.....................

    WR: Dan Buckner - Texas

Dan has proven that is more than deserving of this award. All season long he has continously went up against tough competition and put up great efforts each time. His willingness to put in the extra time with his QB and his passion for reviewing game film, definitely paid off. Texas's success had a great deal to do with Dan's production. That ladies and gentleman is why he is your 2012 Heisman Trophy Winner
