This triple-decker stadium ranks as the second-largest stadium in the country. The unbelievable number of fans who file in every week generate a great deal of noise too, especially the student section, which has been called the loudest by ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit. On game day at Beaver Stadium, all fans wear white and create the best white-out in college football.

    2012 Offense
The 2012 Penn State offense should be much improved over last years squad. Led by receiver Derek Moye and Justin Brown, Penn State should enjoy considerable success with the big play. The Nittany Lions will continue in their tradition of pound it out football. The running game is in great shape, as the Lions have 3 capable runners to provide great depth. This year sr. Brandon Beachum gets the starting nod. The keys to Penn State's success will be the play of the offensive line. Good for the fans in Happy Valley, The Lions have a good, if not great offensive line. Penn State has 5 senior starters along the line, and they are equally good at run or pass blocking. The question mark on offensive once again comes down to the Quarterback position. Rob Bolden is no longer on the team, having been dismissed for conduct unbecoming of a Lion. Sr. quarterback Mike McGloin will get the 1st crack at glory, he's extremely accurate but lacks the arm strength to consistently produce the big play.

    2012 Defense
Like the offense, Penn State's defense will be much improved in 2012. Led by sr. defensive tackle Devon Still, the defense should be stout. The secondary should be dynamic and quite possibly the best secondary in the nation. Penn State lost middle linebacker Mike Mauti to the NFL. If Mauti had stayed, The Lions may have been Big 10 and National Title contenders. His departure will force the Lions to switch to a new defensive base package, probably a 4-2-5. Mauti's loss hurts, but the cupboard is hardly bare in Happy Valley. Look for sr. linebacker Nate Stupar to line up at every linebacker position and captain the defense. Stupar will continue the great linebacker tradition at Linabacker U, becoming Penn State's next star linebacker.

    2012 outlook
Penn State begins the seasom ranked #42 in the nation. However, once again Penn State has arguably the nations toughest schedule. Right out the gates the Lions host defending champion South Carolina. This game should be a good indicator on how the Lions season will go. After a 7-6 campaign in 2011, look for Penn State to rebound in a big way. the Lions could finsh 11-1 and compete for not only the Big 10 title but also the National Title. Also, Penn State has Ohio State at home this year. This game should have a huge bearing on the season.
