    #1 Alabama 18
    Utah 13

great game today at Utah as the Utes battled all game trying to knock off the #1 team in the nation on opening weekend. Defensive struggle all first half as the Utes lead 10-7 on a td late 2nd half. The defensive struggle would continue as no one scored in the 3rd. Alabama scored early 4th on a field goal to tie the game at 10. Mid fourth Utah picked off bamas starting qb and steadily began driving down the field. Utah got all the way inside the 10 before being stopped and being forced to kick a 25 yard field goal. After both teams punted Alabama started there last drive with a little over 3 minutes left in the game. They got to around midfield and had a fourth and 7 with 1 minute left. This is when coach PNC made a rookie mistake. Trying to get a linebacker on the opposite side of the field, I grabbed the guy that should have been covering the TE. 50 + yards later, after running right by me, the TE caught the game winning TD with less than a minute left. Bama went for two and got it. 18-13 Bama. Utah got to around midfield on there last drive before throwing there 3rd pick of the game. Utah and coach PNC is going to have to recover quick from there mistake as LSU comes to town next week.

Game winning catch by TE Williams

    Bama 18 - Utah 13

The Bama faithful had a big scare today and probably many had to change their shorts after playing the Utes @ Utah. The Utes had Bama on the rope much of the game with both defenses playing extremely well for most of the game. Heisman winner Richardson had a solid game that made it possible to stay in the game and give the Tide a chance to win it late in the 4th quarter. If it was not for a huge mistake with 1 minute left in the game by the Utah linebacker leaving Tight End Williams to become a hero that saved the Tide's season at a chance at the National Title. The Tide defense stopped the Utes after the go ahead touchdown and sealed the win for the Crimson Tide and now the Tide looks to welcome the Clemson Tigers to the friendly cofines next week. This game could be extremely difficult for the Tide to win since the Tigers have a very well coached team with a lot of speed and depth.

Well this season has started off with a bang. Heading into the 2nd quarter down 20 points the Canes score 24 to come away the victor. Cal started the game off better than they should have been, with what seemed to be super human run blocking and bad calls from the refs. And the refs proved to be the difference, that and Ray-Ray Armstrong's game shifting pick six (footage coming to the uncanny corner). The calls made in this game changed the outcome without a doubt. Holding and clipping calls crippled the Canes in the first qtr, getting flags on all of their kickoff returns, not to mention two INT's that had them praying for rain, and rain they received. After Armstrong's pick-six Cal was hit with a barrage of clipping and holding penalties, that alone stopped their rushing attack as they where almost always in a passing situation. With 2-19's and 3rd and long's the Golden Bears and their world class run blocking was showed up by poor passing and missed opportunity. Here are the details......

    week 1.jpg

And yes the coach put in the call for three points up one as time expired.
His reason ...... He said there was and unusual drop in performance from Wieclaw, who normally was money from long range. Coach Russell want to see if he would "botch that one too"

This is a game, not real life. If this was real life, of course you wouldnt kick that. In a video game, I will kick that every time.

The goal here is sim, even though this is a game. If a team/coach wouldn't do it in real life, you shouldn't so it here. Scoring late like that while you are winning is frowned upon.

    OSU - 17
    Oregon - 42

After solving internet issues that caused a disconnect in the 4th quarter, OSU and Oregon were able to complete the game with the Ducks winning 42-17. It was 28-17 at the time of disconnect, but after the restart HB Kenjon Barner took a handoff 79 yards to paydirt, then Christian French picked off Braxton Miller on the ensuing OSU drive, taking the interception all the way to the house for 6. The Ducks were then on auto, running out the clock for a 42-17 victory.

gg gwill, we had an unexpected thunderstorm roll through, which cause the disconnect. Also I see you brought over the spread from Clemson in OC to OSU

Trojans Open Season with Shellacking of LSU

    USC 45
    LSU 7

The Trojans opened the 2012 season on a mission to right the underachieving wrongs they committed last season. 9-5 was not good enough for Southern Cal, and they came out of the gates unleashing the beast on the Tigers of Louisiana State! USC scored the game's first three touchdowns, with Matt Barkley and the WR corps able to pass at will on the Tigers secondary. The Trojans did all of their damage in the 1st half, demoralizing LSU play by play until it was 35-7 at halftime. USC decided to call off the dogs and put in the second team in the 2nd half out of respect for coach eberdeeber. Heisman hopeful DJ Morgan rushed 12 times for 99 yds and a TD, and standout QB Matt Barkley got off to a better start this year with 4 total touchdowns to his name. Up next, the Florida State Seminoles take a visit to sunny Southern California.

The Seminole defense forgot to show up in the first quarter. Georgia had runs of 78 & 71 yards and passes for 80 & 70 yards all for scores. The once proud FSU defense looked like it couldn't stop a high school team today. Freshman tackle Roman Mangum gave up two sacks and the offense line could do little to create space for Chris Thompson who carried 9 times for a total of 3 yards, which is a line that immediately puts him as a solid candidate for WPOW. On the bright side the FSU quarterback play was decent considering they had to throw all day. Manuel again got hurt but returned to have a total of 47 attempts. He and his backup combined for 400 yards and a pair a scores. This is a game that FSU can hope to learn from but one that in all likely hood will put that out of the National Championship race, but given they way the played today they probably never were a contender. Week 2 the Seminoles travel to USC to face another potent offense.

Trojans contained the Tigers like sperm in a condom

Today was something of a wake up call for the Tigers. The Tigers have more work to do on figuring out what to make this group of kids work together. Mettenberger did better in percentage and yards than he did last year. The long road over to the west coast may have got to him because he ended up throwing 4 picks in the game. The Trojans have a stellar group of players. The Tigers were hopeful early on when they stopped the Trojans in the first series and marched all the way down the field to the Trojan's 20 yard line. The next down Mettenberger through a pass to the corner of the left pile on and he was picked by the Trojan's corner. After that the Trojans jumped in the drivers seat and stayed there till the games end. There are some good things that could be pulled from this game and some bad ones to learn from. The Defense did not get much pressure, although they tried. The aggressiveness may have bit the Tigers in the tail on this game, making Barkley look like a Heisman canidate. To his credit he audibled the correct plays. Well, it's a long season and we hope that coach Eberdeeber can right this ship and win more than 4 games this year. We will see. Geaux Tigers!!!

Georgia is very happy with the way there team started off the season vs a great Florida State team. Our offense was pretty good today, we relied on a few big runs that helped us, and a few times there weren't enough deep safeties to cover the verticals of the Georgia offense. Our offense is better this year, while our defense has some questions after game 1. Our defensive line played great, but we did not play well against the pass for a lot of the game. We did end up with the win, and we will need to put this one behind us and start getting ready for the Nittany Lions.

Gamecocks lose opening game in Happy Valley 31-28

    8.jpg

The Gamecocks looked rusty coming off their first ever SEC Championship victory as well as their first BCS National Championship title. Is their a hangover in Columbia? Lets hope not. Lets just hope the Nittany Lions wanted it more than us. The Gamecocks will bounce back from this. Coach Cocky and his Gamecocks practiced hard this week to make a statement to the highly ranked Wisconsin Badgers.

    8.jpg

    OFFENSE

    Connor Shaw went 12-29 for 206 yards and 2 TD's with 3 INT's.
Coach Cocky said that (RS) Freshamn Tanner McEvoy will get the start over Junior Connor Shaw this week because he practiced harder and made all the throw during practice this week.
Marcus Lattimore had 29 carries for 187 yards and 1 TD. Alshon Jeffery was kept quiet with only 2 receptions for under 70 yards and only 1 TD.

    8.jpg

The Gamecocks will bounce back from this says Coach Cocky. We will show the nation we are here to stay.

Well Tiger fans, this was a tough loss to a much better team who was well prepared and well coached. We definately don't have a championship calliber team this year but, we are young and have plenty of talent that will be well seasoned after what looks to be a long year. Clemson was owned on the field all game long by the Bama defense. Running the ball was not in the cards today. The Tiger front was way overmatch and looked like a high school team against a dominant Alabame team. Defensively, we performed as well as could be expected. Turnovers and lack of 1st downs kept the Tiger D on the field most of the game.

Good game Magoo. We will meet again one day, just not next year. :)

Well this game was a tale of two games, the first game was a game that ended in disconnect with the Tide being up 17-0 and the Bama defense getting warmed up. This game had Heisman candidate running the ball very well ane McCarron passing the ball effieciently. With the offense clicking along on a steady pace and the defense terrorizing the Tigers offense it would be a long game for the Clemson Tigers. When the second game started with 2 quarters remaining the Tide started off where they left off and clicked off another 16 points. Richardson had a solid game but the passing game is what kept the Tigers of balance and the chains moving. Bama's defense contained the Tigers offense all game and really harrassed the quarterback with a constant rush. Alabama now looks to next week meet Oklahoma.

Good Game Clay and cant wait for our next meeting.

It took a while to get this contest underway but in the end the Seminoles went cross country and came away with a solid win. EJ Manuel had a good game throwing for over 300 yards and 3 scores with the majority of the damage done my Willie Haulstead who caught 5 balls for 169 yards and 2 scores. Former Heisman candidate Chris Thompson was once again held under 50 yards rushing. FSU's new spread offense certainly has not be kind to him. The most positive takeaway from this game was the play of the Seminole defense. They held the Trojan's rushing game to 1.36 yards per carry and controlled the passing game. The Trojans now look to open the ACC conference schedule by visiting Maryland.

Great defensive game today. Utah jumped out to an early 14-0 lead and thought it would be smooth sailing...nope....lsu turned up the defense and steadily crawled back into the game. utah led 17-10 at half and 20-17 late fourth. LSU put together a great drive and won it on a td pass fourth and 6 with 4 seconds left. Utah and coach PNC is feeling snake bit as this is the second straight last minute game winning drive they have allowed. were two defensive stops away from being 2-0 including a win over #1 ranked Alabama.

Tiger's Pull Off A Close Game Against Ute Know Who

    LSU 24
    Utah 20
Well Tiger hopefuls, it sure was a nail biter at the end of that game. I believe that if there was a gun present I think who ever would of lost, in this case was the Utes, than I think it would of been used. It was a game that started off well for LSU but quickly turned Utah's way after an interception in the redzone by Mettenberger on the first series. Utah stayed in the lead until the last seconds of the clock in the 4th quarter. The momentum started to slowly change in the late second to early 3rd quarter. LSU and coach eberdeeber hung in there for the win. When asked about coaches decision about going for the win rather than the tie on 4th down in the 4th quarter with 4 seconds to go, he said, " I wasn't a hundred percent about going for it but I thought with the way our TE was playing and how he was able to get open, that we had a great chance to win the game on a quick slant. I still wasn't sure and was ready to call the time out and Mettenberger Hiked the ball and it was do or die then. Good thing we lived this one because I don't if I could of made it out of the stadium if Mett didn't connect with Clement." all this with said with a smile on his tranquil face. Utah is a fine team and was difficult at times to defend. He kept the Tigers on their heels at times but tenacity and the will to not give up lifted these Bayou Boys to victory.

    Ohio State - 21
    Miami - 17

In their home opener OSU defends their home turf in a 21-17 win against Miami. The Silver Bullets were the stars of the game, as they held the Canes to 45 yards on 5-14 passing. They also only allowed 115 yards rushing between two backs. On the other side of the ball, it was a little rough going especially in the run game. Jordan Hall managed only 50 yards on 14 carries and TD. QB Braxton Miller also added 50 yards on 11 carries, and was 6-11 for 88 yards with a TD. Even though TOP was just about balanced it seemed like for the most part Ohio State was in control. Every time Miami took a little bit of control, Ohio State responded. The turning point occurred with about 1:30 the Buckeyes got the ball back, and rather than try to get the ball back for one last posession they conceded defeat.

    #18 Clemson 45
    #12 Penn St. 35

On the heels of an bad loss, Clemson had no time to rest up or regroup as they were slated to play #12 Penn St. who had just knocked off the defending National Champions, South Carolina. The Tiger offense had a great week of practice, focusing on match-ups and skill positions. Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney knew he needed to find a way to get the ball into their young play makers hand's, and that happend today. Misdirections, play-actions and smart playcalling led the way today. Tahj Boyd had a good day today, if not for the one pick it would have been a great day. He went 13 of 20 for 235 yards with one touchdown strike and a QB rating of 170.2. The bulk of the Tiger offense came on the ground and on the legs of Andre' Ellington (20/192 yds, 2 TD) and SO Mike Bellamy (13/103 yds, 3 TD). Wideout Dendre Hopkins also had a big day catching five passes for 129 yards and scoring once.

The Clemson defense came prepared today, knowing they were going to have to show up for the Tigers to have a chance. On the day the Orange team picked of the kitties 3 times, sacked their QB 6 times and had 8 tackes for a loss. All in all, coach Kevin Steele did a great job today preparing his unit. :)

Bama went to the Cowboys turf and drew down on the Cowboys and disarmed the Cowboys. The game started out close but in the end the Tide simply overmatched the Cowboys. Trent Richardson went down in the game with a concussion that left the Junior half back Lacy to carry the rock. He turned the rock into a pebble and rushed for 168 yards on 26 carries. The Bama defense created 3 INT's and sacked the QB twice. The Bama defense really stood up and took down Cowboys to limit them to 28 pts. Bama now looks to take on Vanderbilt where Coach looks to get his starters out of the game early.

The Seminoles traveled to Maryland and came home with their first ACC win of the year. The game truly was never in doubt. Overall the Seminoles offense looked strong having their best rushing attack of the season. Chris Thompson ran for 133 yards and a score. EJ Manuel, while not as accurate as he'd like, throw again for over 300 yards and 4 tds, but most importantly no interceptions. The defense while not looking spectacular still held the Terrapins to only 10 points. FSU now travels to South Carolina, where the Gamecocks try to avenge their only loss from last year.
