    #6 Georgia @ #4 Alabama

    LATE FIELD GOAL LIFTS #4 ALABAMA OVER #6 GEORGIA IN ANOTHER SEC
    CLASSIC

    [IMG]

    TUSCALOOSA, Ala --Alabama kicked a game winning field goal with :23 seconds to fend off an amazing comeback attempt by Georgia.

    In what many experts considered to be a game between the best team in the SEC West matching up against the best team in the SEC East, neither team would disappoint. The teams would rack up almost 1000 yards of total offense through the air on the shoulders of BAMA QB Star Jackson (15 - 32 for 404 and 4 TD's with 4 INTS) and Georgia backup Aaron Murray (28 - 42 for 503 yards and 6 TD's with 3 INTS).

    The Tide came out in the first half looking to demoralize the Bulldogs. The defense would dominate with two first half defensive touchdowns and total control of Heisman trophy candidate RB Carlton Thomas who only managed 9 yards rushing for the entire game. Alabama was also able to move the ball against the stout Georgia D. The Tide would score 2 offensive TD's in the first half on an 80 yards pass play to TE Smelley and a 15 yard strike to Freshman WR Eugene Alexander to give Bama what looked to be a commanding 28 - 0 lead going into halftime.

    However, during halftime, Coach Drunken made some necessary and game changing adjustments. The major adjustment was deciding to change up his offense from a traditional style attack to a spread. The 4 wide set of the Bulldogs and backup QB Aaron Murray (the should be starter for the rest of the season) caused all kinds of problems for the BAMA defense. Murray was able to rally the Bulldogs to an improbable comeback. After a 11 yard pass from Murray to Charles, the game was tied a 35 - 35. After two defensive stops by both teams and a fantastic punt by Georgia, Bama would have the ball at the 1 yard line with 1:30 to play. On the first play from scrimmage, QB Star Jackson would find Nate Bullock matched up in man-to-man bump and run coverage. Bullock was able to beat the corner off of the line and get behind him for a 99 yard touchdown reception. Not to be outdone, Murray was able to connect with M. Brown on a 76 yard reception on Georgia's first play after the BAMA kickoff to tie the game at 42. On the ensuing BAMA possession, BAMA would be able to get field goal range with another long pass from Jackson to Kelly. The 43 yard FG would put BAMA up 45 - 42 with :23 seconds remaining. On the Georgia's final play, the BAMA defense would FINALLY step up and pick off a Murray pass to end the game.

    #18 Mississippi State @ #1 Alabama

    TIDE DEFENSE SCORES TWO TOUCHDOWNS TO LEAD #1 ALABAMA OVER #18 MISSISSIPPI STATE

    TUSCALOOSA, Ala -- In a very important SEC contest with two of the top teams in the SEC West, #1 Alabama was able to defeat #18 Mississippi State 35 - 17. The story of the game was the Alabama secondary. They were able to score two defensive touchdowns and limit all-world wide receiver Laron Byrd to only 3 catches for 83 yards. Both of the defensives touchdowns were definitely momentum changers. In the first quarter with Mississippi State already up 7 - 0 and driving, BAMA CB BJ Scott stepped in front of a MSU slant play and took it back 56 yards to tie the game at 7 - 7. The other defensive score was in the 3rd quarter with BAMA up 14 - 10. All-American FS Mark Barron picked off a deep pass in the direction of Byrd and returned it 76 yards to give BAMA a 21 - 10 lead.

    Key Stats -

    * BAMA was 0 - 6 on 3rd downs
    * MSU had 4 turnovers to BAMA's 2
    * Neither team was able to run the ball - Bama 22 carries for 59 yards and MSU 17 carries for 39 yards.

    ALABAMA ESCAPES DEATH VALLEY WITH 34 - 28 TO WIN SEC WEST

    BATON ROUGE, LA -- With the score 34 - 28 with 48 seconds left, LSU needed to convert a short 4th down to continue their potential game winning drive. On their most recent short yardage situation, LSU was able to use their power running game to covert the short 4th down. However, on the most important conversion of the day, coach ControllerAbuser tried to surprise the Tide with a short pass play. Outside Linebacker Courtney Upshaw read pass and was able to get around the left tackle right off the snap and sack quarterback Russell Shepard to end the game and secure the SEC West Championship for the Tide.

    Statistically, the game was pretty even. Both QB's had decent stats with
    LSU QB R. Shepard going 19 for 29 for 237 yards, 1 TD and 2 INT while
    BAMA QB Star Jackson went 11 for 18 for 163 yards 2 TDs and 2 INT.

    One slight difference was in the running game. LSU runner Mike Ford only averaged 2.6 yards a carry on 16 attempts while Trent Richardson rushed for 104 yards on 18 carries.

    LSU did a fantastic job of shutting down Freshman standout Eugene Alexander, holding him to 9 yards on only 2 catches (guarded by the usercontrolled player most of the game :)) However, they had a little trouble with Senior TE B. Smelley. Smelley had 4 catches for 99 yards and a TD.
