TRIPLE CROWN BASEBALL LEAGUE 2012 FIRST YEAR PLAYER DRAFT​

Overview
June 1st is just around the corner, which means that the TCBL First Year Player Draft is upon us. This years draft will likely have a different feel than last year, as well as MLB years because of the new MLB collective bargaining agreement.

Essentially, every team is given a pool of money that will be used to sign draft picks in the first 10 rounds. If a team spends beyond its assigned spending money, they face harsh consequences ranging from fines and loss of future draft picks.

Therefore, teams will be forced to use their money efficiently and will be unable to offer the usual well-above-slot signing bonuses. In turn, it is expected that more players will ultimately honor their college scholarships, as the draft has also been whittled down to only 40 rounds.

What to Expect
The TCBL First Year Player Draft will be held on OOTP on June 1st. We are currently 4 days from the draft, so after tonights sim, we will be ready to start. This means we will be starting the draft shortly after tonights sim. The draft will span over the weekend, ending Monday evening. We will hold the draft here on the forums, organized by Google Docs. The amount of time everyone has to make their pick will be explained further.

How it Works
OOTP has published the draft pool which you can also view HITTERS and PITCHERS online. In order to make your pick, you can do one of the following.

1. Text MSG Frisk with your selection. See PM for #.
2. Instant Message BobJr , ryty32 , Emmdotfrisk , or sdid22 . They MUST confirm they have received your selection for it to be executed.
3. Post in the Forums on this thread.

OOTP will be making selections for the CPU, which we will be posting here on the forums. Every GM will have exactly 3 HOURS & 30 MINUTES on the clock to make all 10 picks of the draft. This means that if your pick is up, and you are on the clock, you have a total of 210 minutes that you can remain on the clock through out the entire draft. We will be monitoring the amount of time taken per pick. by doing this we will be able to complete the draft roughly in 72 hours. NON DRAFT HOURS WILL BE FROM 12AM CST to 8AM CST
Here is an example by means of draft log of how it will work:

• Astros make selection at 9 PM
• Twins make selection at 9:15 PM (Twins have 195 minutes remaining)
• Mariners make selection at 9:16 PM
• Orioles make selection at 11:15 PM (Orioles have 1 minute remaining)
• Cubs make selection at 11:59 PM (Cubs have 166 minutes remaining)
• Padres make selection at 12 AM
• Draft Suspended at 12 AM
• Draft Resumes at 8 AM
• Royals make selection at 8:30 AM (Royals have 180 minutes remaining)

Once your team is up in the draft you will receive a notification via all 3 mediums:

1. Personal Instant Message
2. TSO Conversation/Personal Message
3. Text Message (Please send cell # to Emmdotfrisk via PM)

Draft FAQ
Q. How many live picks will we make?
A. 10

Q. Do I have to make all 10 of my picks?
A. Yes. If not, why are you in this league?

Q. What happens if my time runs out?
A. Your picks will get simulated from this point on throughout the rest of the draft.

Q. What do I do if I can't make my pick?
A. MSG a member of the admin team to let them know and we can work from there.

Q. What time will the draft start?
A. The draft will un-officially start tonight after the sim at 10 PM CST, at which point the Astros will make their pick. Time won't officially start until Saturday morning at 8 AM CST.

Q. Can I send you my picks early?
A. Yes and we encourage that you setup your draft board on OOTP so that if you are simmed, your team will choose from your draft list.

Q. What do I do if I have more questions?
