    2012 Tennessee Volunteer Season Preview

    Coach Chessedip

I am excited to be the new coach in Knoxville, as this is a very prestigious program and I hope to keep up the winning efforts here.

    Starting QB
SO Walter Rivas(81 OVR, 87 THP, 85 THA)
--There will be no position battle at QB, Rivas is our man.

    Starting Backfield
SR RB Bryce Brown (96 OVR, 94 SPD, 74 STR)
JR FB Toney Williams(82 OVR, 86 SPD, 80 STR)
-- Backfield is loaded with possibly the best running back in the nation and a very talented, blocking fullback. Should put up big numbers this season.

    Starting Receivers
SR WR Nuskeese Richardson(93 OVR, 95 SPD, 87 CTH)
JR WR Marsalis Teaque (89 OVR, 95 SPD,86 CTH)
SR WR Denarius Moore (89 OVR, 87 SPD, 88 CTH)
SO WR Sean Williams(86 OVR, 87 SPD, 88 CTH)
SR TE Aaron Douglass(89 OVR, 80 SPD, 78 CTH)
--Very talented, speedy receiving core with many senior/junior leaders to show the young guns around. If Rivas can get them the ball they should have huge years.

    Offensive Line
    FR LT Doug Newberry(82 OVR)
    SR LG Kevin Revis(85 OVR)
    SO C Dan Hill(88 OVR)
    SO RG Howard Collins(82 OVR)
JR RT Nate Pennington (85 OVR0
--This overall young line should be able to stay together as a nucleus and produce some big rushing numbers for years to come.

    Defensive Line
JR LE Rae Sykes(89 OVR, 81 SPD)
SR RE Steven Fowlkes(92 OVR, 86 SPD)
JR DT Montori Hughes(91 OVR, 91 STR)
JR DT Arhturt Jeffery(91 )VR, 89 STR)
--A pair of quick pass rushers coming off the end combined with a pair of big, strong oxes at the Tackles should cause some major disruptions in opposing teams offensive flow.

SO LOLB Craig Kidd(88 OVR, 83 SPD)
JR MLB Jerod Askew(87 OVR, 87 SPD)
FR ROLB John McNamara(83 OVR, 86 SPD)
--These three guys should be able to make some big plays for the Vols this season. Their speed should allow them to make tackles all over the field.

SR CB Janzen Jackson(94 OVR, 93 SPD)
SR CB Darren Myles(93 OVR, 93 SPD)
FR FS Jonathan Walker(84 OVR, 90 SPD)
JR SS Nyshier Oliver(91 OVR, 93 SPD)
--Two All American, shutdown corners combined with some speedy safeties will round out the VOLS on the defensive side of the ball.

    Special Teams
    SO K/P M.J. Gordon(84 OVR, 86 KPW, 89 KAC)
    JR KR David Oku(94 SPD)
    JR PR Maralis Teague(95 SPD)
--M.J. Gordon holds both kicking and punting responsibilities and does an adequate job at both. Could see some flashy returns with the two speedy return men.

This should be a big year for the Vols, as all three aspects of the team looking very well prepared. 2012 should be a very productive year for the Volunteers.

    Week 2 UT@ FSU

    Cheesedip's Coaching Debut

    #1 Tennessee 27
    #19 Florida State 17

The Volunteers headed down to good ole Tallahassee for this years ACC/SEC Showdown hoping to represent the SEC very well.

The game started off as a defensive battle. As both teams traded possessions, punt after punt. The first break came with 2 minutes left in the first quarter as Janzen Jacksom the senior quarter jumped the route and took the ball 35 yards to the house.

But FSU responded quickly with a nice drive setting them up for a 1 yard touchdown run by Pryor right after the start of the second quarter.

Another quick response by the Vols landed them with a made 22 yard field goal by M.J. Gordon.

The third quarter determined the game as it was controlled by the Volunteers, out scoring the Seminoles 14-0 off a 9 yard pass by Walter Rivas to Nuskeese Richardson, and then a costly interception in the redzone by FSU gave the ball to the Vols on their own 2 yard line. Just trying to give their offense some rooom to work, a weak dive was called, but the combination of speed and strength allowed Senior Running Back Bryce Brown to break it to the outside for a 98 yard touchdown scamper.

But the Seminoles wouldn't quit, Coming up with a big touchdown right after the start of the 4th quarter by a 30 yard touchdown pass to Booker.

A Tennesse punt gave the Noles the ball again hoping to close the margin. A nice drive stalled out, as D. Hopkins hit a 28 yard field goal to close the gap to 7 points.

A nice long drive filled with many Bryce Brown runs led to a 27 yard field goal by M.J. Gordon sealing the victory.

Great, hard fought battle by both teams that ultimately came down to turnovers.

    2012 Week 4 UF @ Tennessee

Dissapointing First Loss For the Vols

    #1 TENN 21
    #9 UF 37

The Vols came into a huge game looking to stand their ground and defend their home turf in Knoxville.Bryce Brown got the Vols off to a quick start, as he took the handoff and scampered down the field for a long touchdown run. The pace of the game changed drastically, as both of Tennessee's ensuing drives led to back-to-back pick 6's. "In hindsight, I would have just kept pounding it out on the ground instead of dialing up a few early pass plays"- Coach Cheesedip after the game

Big Bryce Brown would respond instantly coming up with a big 68 yard touchdown run to knot it up 14-14.Te second quarter was completely dominated by the Gators as UT could not find an answer to the Gator Offense. The second half was a quiet one as both teams just coasted towards the end. Great gameplan by coach Kshersm and his Gators, as Tennessee looses the conference opener.
